    Out of surgery

For what it’s worth, my nutritionist and others here seem to focus more on staying hydrated than worrying about protein intake. Dehydration can make you nauseous and dizzy. So in terms of priority, don’t worry as much if you can’t get your protein goals. But are staying hydrated If you are having troubles getting anything down, your doctor may need to know and advise on what you should do. good luck! Hope this passes quickly for you.

    Any March Surgeries?

So glad to hear you are doing better and good luck getting discharged soon. I hope you can rest and take it easy this next week.

    Out of surgery

Ok - just searched this site and found similar questions. FYI - cold pack, hydrocortisone, antihistamine were some suggested remedies.

    Out of surgery

Anyone else super itchy? I’m 7 days out and this is the 2nd day my skin is itchy around the incisions - I know it’s just healing. But it’s sooo itchy. Moisturizer isn’t helping.

    Any March Surgeries?

I know I didn’t lose a lot pre-op. Just 2-3 lbs. and post op I gained for the first few days due to fluids and swelling. Now I’m exactly 7 days post surgery and down almost 10 lbs. so I think it catches up eventually. I hope you are starting to feel and see a difference. Btw-Had cottage cheese yesterday - 1 day before my purée phase starts but I couldn’t wait to eat some other than liquid. Pre-op I hated cottage cheese but yesterday it was the best thing I’ve ever tasted!😋 not sure if it’s my taste buds changing as others have noted or if I was just desperate for a change. Hoping I’ll feel the same about salads😉

    Food Before and After Photos

Do you use an air fryer? I didn’t think fried foods were tolerable post surgery. Maybe if you are sleeve only? Looks delicious!

    Bad Advice and being honest.

I have to admit I look forward to taking my Gas-X chewables. I don’t care what you think - it is the most pleasant thing I put in my mouth all day, so much so I took an extra one even though I didn’t think I needed it (more on that later). the taste was the perfect amount of sweetness and chewiness, I didn’t have to measure it and I didn’t get any restriction feeling. I think we are all looking for honesty. I will speak for myself when I say this is a hella scary ride, with lots of risks and unknowns. i am most afraid that life post surgery will feel like a sacrifice at every turn - social gatherings, work outings, holidays, girls night out. But I decided that my health was worth the trade-off. So it is reassuring to hear from others here that not everything has to change. I knew this really but don’t know what parts might still be somewhat normal. I also know that if I go down that road of having Micky Ds and pringles or licking the fudge jar, I might just fall into those patterns that got me to this place. But it is comforting to know that maybe I could sit down and enjoy thanksgiving meals again or popcorn smothered in butter (really ms.sss, you had me at pop...). tonight, 4 days post surgery, my daughter had a sundae and left the hot fudge on the counter. The chocolate fudge never smelled so good. So I knew in that moment that one day I will give in. I hope support and honesty from this site andfrom others will help get me back on track before I do much damage. It’s not about trying to be perfect but making sure I am never this unhealthy, uncomfortable and miserable again. For me that may mean I can’t go down that slippery slope too often. For now I am still driven by fear so I put it in the fridge with shaking hands and reached for some Gas-X.
  8. I bought the OPURITY® Bariatric Multivitamin With Iron Chewable Supplements (90 Day Supply) thinking it would be easier to take, they would be absorbed better ( I am super worried about malabsorption) and I would only need 1 a day. But I wish I had tried them first - the taste is hard to describe - chalk with super tart berries. It’s painful to take even 1. I think I might toss them - I’ve got enough challenges. Trying to chew a multivitamin should not be one of them. I was told to avoid gummies. I might opt for a pill instead.
  9. Hi everyone I am just 3 days post-op and have been reading a lot about loose skin, mostly about how much people have once reaching their goal and whether to have PS. I realize surgery is the only proven way to address loose skin but I’ve heard some anecdotal reports of other methods too that may help minimize it. I haven’t seen many posts talking about what non surgical treatments people have tried that may have helped at all (collagen, compression clothes, exercise etc) and to what extent you felt any improvement. Also what problems or annoyances you have had with loose skin (is it bulky through the clothes, is it uncomfortable to exercise) and what you did to help this before or instead of surgery. Hearing everyone’s successes has me looking forward to nice fitting stylish clothes and moving my body in a way that has not felt comfortable for at least 10 years. But I also want to learn whatever might work to reduce the loose skin or tools to help deal with it. Thanks in advance for everyone’s input.
  10. I was thinking before PS! I certainly understand how they could make you feel secure. I look forward to adding spanx to my new wardrobe - it was never worth using g them before. Thanks!!
  11. Oh- just to have that hourglass shape again! You look fantastic even Pre-PS. But you echo all my concerns. Though being 70+ lbs heavier, I expect my skin will be more problematic to just my everyday comfort. It’s a problem I will be glad to see replace my difficulty bending, running and fitting into seats! Did you rely on compression garments? Did they help or were they uncomfortable? thanks for sharing!
  12. First, you look amazing. I would not have guessed you were dealing with excess skin. You hid it very well. I have about 150 I’d like to lose so I suspect will be in a similar situation. for now, I just need to recover from the bypass surgery. But it is so good to hear others’ experience. Thanks so much for sharing!

    Out of surgery

My program does not have yogurt in this stage. But good to know it is working for you. I might switch if I continue having problems getting my shakes in. I started my day with E- drink(Gatorade zero) cuz I was getting leg cramps. Then tried to get in my shake for breakfast and started getting nauseous- probably sipping too quickly. Time for a nap. This is a bit exhausting to keep attention on sipping without without getting sick.

    Any March Surgeries?

Same here but I’ve been using a 30 ml medicine cup. I think I may have rushed it this morning. I noticed I started to feel nauseous and have felt a strong pain in my lower abdomen- gas I think. But not pleasant- I will be extra careful now. Still glad I’m not hungry.

    Gastric sleeve - sherbet?

I don’t know if this helps but in the hospital post-surgery (2days ago), they served hormels sin free sorbet. It was delicious and sugar free. It only comes in a big box of 48 and is expensive but I am keeping it in mind once I get to a phase when I can eat rather than drink food again. I’ll probably be splitting a box with my mom who is diabetic.

    2 week Liquid Diet Cheat

I know I’ve been there too. Do the best you can. Though I think the closer you are to your surgery the more important it is to stick to it. Especially the 2 day liquid before surgery. You have got this!!

    Any March Surgeries?

Hey I hear all of you. I just had surgery yesterday, came home this afternoon and barraged by food commercials, then my family had sushi while I sipped my miso soup. But one good bit of news I read on this site, Wendy’s chili! Apparently that is a fast food we’ll (eventually ) be able to eat. anybody else having difficulty knowing when to stop sipping. I hate to push it but I’m trying to find that magic number of sips that will make me full. For now I’m just drinking from 15/30 ml cups ever 5-10 minutes

    Any March Surgeries?

Just had surgery yesterday. I am trying to get through a protein shake - the criterion before I can leave. I’m having a hard time noticing when I’m full but trying not to push it so I do t feel nauseous or foam or worse throw up. Anyone else have difficulty knowing they are full?

    2 week Liquid Diet Cheat

The first day of my 2 week liquid diet my daughter made cupcakes (I haven’t told her what I’m doing, other than it’s a simple procedure). I ate 3 that day. And throughout the week was so tempted. Kept dipping my finger into the frosting for a small taste til I finally told her to eat them or throw them away. She threw them away. Lucky for her she doesn’t have the sweet tooth I have! But had surgery yesterday without any issues.

    Any March Surgeries?

Here I am. I am very hungry. Had to throw out my daughters cupcakes to avoid any risk of slipping on this 2 week pre-op diet. (Just so you don’t think I’m cruel, unlike me, she barely looks at sweets- she made them just so she could practice cake decorating). This time tomorrow it’ll all be over!😬 Good luck to you!

    Before and After Pics

You look fantastic (as does everyone here). Thank you for sharing pre- skin removal. I hope you shared your skin removal process somewhere on this site. I have surgery in 3 days and looking at these pics for courage and motivation. Thanks!!

    Any March Surgeries?

Was that during or post surgery. I have ondansetron as part of my post surgery meds along with a medication to prevent gallstones, heartburn and pain medication of course. but I can never remember what they do for surgery to offset the nausea from the anesthesia. I think the presurgery sedative has kicked in by the time they are explaining it to me.
