    Not losing weight...

I posted something similar last night... Then read about 10 of these post that were posted this month alone so we are in good company. I feel better. This link was the funniest one. It helped.
  3. I don't know why but this makes me laugh! I hope that doesn't offend. I haven't experienced sneezing but it will probably go away when you heal some more. I know it hurt for me to cough or laugh a few days out of surgery so I hope you are ok!

    Scared I'm recovering too fast...

    Scared I'm recovering too fast...

That sucks! lol. I hope mine is closer to 1 week. 😁 But thanks for the encouragement. I will stick to it! I think I was just worried that maybe my surgeon wasn't aggressive enough or something... which I know is ridiculous. I'm just so pessimistic about weight loss. I can't wait to be 3 months in...

    Scared I'm recovering too fast...

Thanks for responding! It's nuts how my thoughts and moods are all over the place since the surgery. Last night I was feeling low but this morning I feel fine again. I think I was being melodramatic yesterday. lol! I agree with you. I'm so used to sprinting towards weight loss and gaining it all back over time. I have to train myself for the long-term. I decided (at least right now) to just keep moving forward. Hopefully, we'll both make it where we want to be at the "finish line."

    Mindfulness about new eating

Hi Cherie, I was just telling my boyfriend that even though I'm not eating as much I feel like I'm always eating or drinking! I'm still on puree/ soft foods so I have to chew everything up to mush. I prefer to chew then blend it down but then it takes 1-2 hours to eat every meal. It also takes some time to drink. I thought I drank a lot of water before but clearly that was a lie. Lol. If I don't put a timer for my water, I don't reach my goals. The only time I feel like I'm not eating or drinking is the 30 minutes of wait time between food and water. Thankfully I teach from home so its doable. When I taught in the building I barely had 10 mins to myself, I couldn't possibly do this.

    Dreaded STALL

I'm on my first stall at the 2 week mark!18 lbs in the first 2 weeks and then nothing for a whole week... still nothing... I feel like going back to liquids... but my doctor cleared me for pureed/soft foods and have actually been tolerating it well. Im just sad i stopped losing as soon as I started eating.
  9. Honestly, this is already the hardest diet I've ever been on. From pre-op until now... I've learned so much and tried a bunch of new "healthier" foods I would have never tried before. My previous diets were all about eliminating foods but because this is for the long haul, I have a different mindset now. People who haven't been through it, can't really understand. I have a bunch of smaller friends who have gotten liposuction, lifts and enhancements but I KNOW they would still judge me if I told them. Its funny that they think their surgeries are minor or not as bad because they technically didn't need it. But they look down on bariatric surgery because they think its a "cheat." They think people should just eat right and work out... 🙄 meanwhile they eat horribly. Its just the way some people are. I decided not to say anything to anyone.

    Jealous Spouse

I'm on a week or so out by my S.O acts a bit weird too. He is also trying to lose weight without the surgery. Normally when we try to lose weight he loses 2x faster than me but now I'm losing more than him and he doesn't love it. Lol! Also he is upset that I'm not cooking anymore and I'm not creating a diet plan for him. Usually I'm in charge of the food. I told him he was free to drink protein shakes, broth and water with me. When I started puree 2 days ago, he was excited until I open a canned chicken, mixed it with marinara and cheese and ate 3 bites. He was like, "so this is how its going to be?" I think he just needs time and I would say the same for your hubby.
  11. I'm happy to hear this!!! I'm on day 11 today. Yesterday I found that I could drink water "normally." AND (tmi) I took a solid poop! All of a sudden today, I feel so much better! So just hang in there a bit more! I also started on puree/soft foods yesterday and I think it made all the difference for me. I think I can "eat" my food better than I can drink it. Let us know when you get to the "yay, I feel ok" stage.
  12. That's true. I emailed my nutritionist and I'm hoping she says yes!
  13. I used to have curves in all the "right" places before I started teaching. I gained about 10 pounds each year and have been teaching for 9 years now! I am really excited to lose weight. My breast are HUGE now and I hate them! BUT I really don't want to lose all my curves. Anyone tips/tricks/ or stories anyone wants to share?

    Keeping my curves...

    Sounds simple enough! Thanks!!!
  15. Can we have mashed potatoes? I figured it would be too starchy? Im entering pureed/soft foods tomorrow. I would LOOOVE mashed potatoes! I ordered flavorless protein powder and can add it in to make it more protein heavy.
  16. I'm sorry your recovery has been so bad! Have you tried messing with the temperature of your liquids? I can drink tea and broth a million times better than water out the fridge.

    NO pre-op Liquid Diet...Anyone else?

My nutritionist wanted me to replace one meal preferably breakfast with a protein shake the month before just to get used to it. I did it pretty inconsistently because she said it wasn't mandatory. At the time I had a habit of skipping breakfast. She also gave me some guidelines to help me reduce my salt intake (I have hypertension) and add protein to my diet. I did follow her suggestions most days. I also felt the urge to have ALL my favorites before surgery and I did that too! Other than that, I was on liquid diet 6 days prior to surgery, clear liquids 24 hours before. I cheated twice on my liquid diet (had some sunflower seeds, I'm ADDICTED) but my surgeon said my liver looked great during surgery! One thing to note, at first he said I would need a Hiatal Hernia repair during surgery but during the surgery he found nothing to repair. My pre-op diet could have helped with this? IDK. Actually, I'm kind of glad I didnt see this post pre-op because I was looking for all sorts of excuses to break my pre-op liquids diet but the internet scared me into trying hard to maintain it. lol. If I read this I would have cheated more.

    I messed up bad

This!!!! I'm on day 7 and although I haven't felt "hungry" my mental cravings are strong! I'm not big on sweets and all the jello and Popsicles are not doing it for me. I crave salts! I'm just soooooo happy I got rid of all the chips and salts I crave. I KNOW I would have caved otherwise. I found a bag of sunflower seed that made it and yesterday I put 2 in my mouth and just sucked the salt! I spit it out though because I am scared to eat solids early and didn't think 2 seed were worth all the pain I went through post op. Whenever I find myself going on a "Can I really do this" spiral, I either go to sleep or skim all the threads on here. It really helps!
  19. I'm on day 7. The gas pain was brutal for me. I am actually still bloated and having gas pain but it is much less than before. GasX helps a small amount but its better than nothing. Peppermint tea has been great for me. I needed to buy sugar free sweetners because I've always just used sugar. I also had a hard time taking my pills after surgery. I ordered a pill crusher/slicer but by the time it came I didn't need it. I would've ordered it earlier. I also needed to get a wedge pillow. That helped alot. The liquid diet pre-op was super hard for me. I only needed it for 6 days but I cheated twice! I wish I had incorporated the protein shakes earlier while I could still eat food with it. My nutritionist recommended it but since it wasn't mandatory I didn't do it. In retrospect, it would have been helpful. Looking at some of the incision scars on here, I'm happy my surgeon used the glue instead of staples. I never even considered asking about that pre-surgery. I would ask my surgeon if they could use the glue for you. Lastly my mouth was sooooooo dry after surgery. I hated it. They would not let me eat ice or have water right away. One of the nurses however gave me this sponge toothbrush I could dip in water and wet my mouth. LIFE SAVER!!!!!
  20. I felt the same way. I just had this nagging feeling that something would go wrong and I wouldn't be able to get it. Even on my surgery day, I was sure something would fall through. I didn't believe it would happen until I was post-op! I'm one week out now. Im so used to failing at weight loss, isn't it crazy? I also only told 2 people, my fiance and another friend who is thinking about the process herself. I've known other people in my family or circle of friends who have done it and suddenly they become the person who had weight loss surgery. It somehow always comes up. Years later. Its not in a negative way but still. I don't want that to be an identifier when people talk about me. I also think people tend to trivialize your journey. They think, ohhh THATS why they lost the weight. As if you went to surgery and ta-da you are now skinny.
  21. Here's hoping! If I can get past my fries cravings I know I'll be alright.
  22. I basically only cook in my air fryer! These look good! I can't wait until I can try them!
  23. Any good French fry alternatives would be great!!!!
  24. I can see that! I think French Fries are my trigger. Im not even hungry yet but everytime I see someone eat fries on TV, I think I can't wait to have a fry! Pre-surgery I could just eat fries for a meal any day of the week. Ill def keep what you said in mind and hold off for as long as I can.
  25. Thanks for saying this! I'm not huge on pizza or cheese for that matter but I LOVE the crust. I was nervous from previous comments that I wouldn't be able to have it again. My boyfriend usually eats the pizza and I would eat all of the crust. Obviously, I won't be able to do that but a crust here and there can't be that bad right? I'm also nervous that all of these delicious suggestions seem so heavy on cheese. Maybe my taste will change when I'm off liquids and I'll like cheese more.
