Gastric bypass and dental cleaning
Breanne (w 2 pups) posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hey all! I’m 5 weeks post op and have been doing great, but I got my teeth cleaned yesterday and haven’t been feeling well since. Usually the dentist is an easy thing for me but this time my body aches and my digestive system is definitely unhappy. My pre-op info did not say anything about the dentist. Has anyone else had experiences like this? Did your info have a timeline for dental cleanings? Thanks, Breanne -

Any October 2021 Surgeries?

Wear a dress to go home in. The pressure of pants, even loose pants bc of the waistband. I would recommend bringing earplugs and an eye mask. You might not be in a private room. I forgot these bc I was spoiled from my previous surgery. -
Any October 2021 Surgeries?

Hey all! I’m three weeks post op today from bypass. I’ve been very lucky with easily getting down the required liquids and my small blended meals. I’m suddenly struggling with food obsession again. I was okay the first while bc I knew I couldn’t, but now I’m trying actual food and really want the “bad” food. I want pizza and creamy pastas and the chocolate. I’ve held off so far, but have been creeping over the calories. It doesn’t help that I’m not losing much weight. “Only” 5 lbs in the last two weeks. I think the amount of free time isn’t helping. I’m still off work and most of my friends/family are busy this time of year. Any suggestions? -

Even standing. Two days post op a friend came over and dealt with my jalapeños from my garden. I didn’t do much, but was standing in the kitchen. Made a huge difference for me. -

I’m two days post-op. I’m struggling to drink enough liquids bc of how long it seems to take my stomach to digest these stupid pills. So many pills! Anyone else struggling with this? -

I found the liquid diet super gross! I was only allowed boost diabetic, specific type of broth and sugar free jello. 🤮 -
Any October 2021 Surgeries?

I just got out of surgery for bypass and am feeling pretty good! I have no doubt the pain meds are helping though. My surgeon warned me that the top wound hurts the most and she wasn’t kidding! I honestly can’t even feel the other ones! Last year I had an ovary out laparoscopically and bc these wounds are higher on the abdomen I’m way more mobile so far. I’ve already walked to the bathroom, and that took me prob half a day w the other surgery. So far so good! -
Any October 2021 Surgeries?

So I just finished day three of the pre-op diet. In my area it’s super restrictive with 5 boost diabetic, and one serving of a specific broth and one serving of sugar free jello a day. It’s not as horrible as I thought. Yet. I’ve been “cheating” a little. I’m using CBD as an appetite suppressant. And I’ve had 3 servings of broth and two of jello a day. Way less than 100 calories for all the cheating. I think the CBD is saving my life. Buuuut today for the first time in my life I learned from first hand experience “don’t trust a fart”. Thank god I was at home. 🤦🏼♀️ How’s everyone else’s pre-op going? What’s your pre-op diet going to be? -
Any October 2021 Surgeries?

Is it the actual hunger or something else? Today I took some cbd to suppress my appetite so that hasn’t been much of an issue yet, but I’m obsessively thinking about food. Way way more than I usually do, but to be fair I probably thought of it more than an average person. -

I’m getting the bypass on Oct 6. I’m so excited, but nervous about the physical recovery. I have a physical job and want to be safe, yet be able to go back to work. -
For me there was a million things about my life I wanted to change that are affected by my weight, but somehow that all became background noise in my life. What made me finally decide to sign up for surgery was the sudden clarity that if I could have done it in my own, I already would have. My being overweight has virtually been my reality my whole life and being morbidly obese has been my life for at least a decade. This “issue” is not a passing thing.

Hello all! I’m going to be starting the boost diet soon and on the forum I saw someone suggested starting to work it in before it’s required. For my program I have to use Boost Diabetic. I just had the vanilla and god is it gross! Please help! What can I do to make this palatable?

I’ve been going over my pre-surgery information (gastric bypass). It specifies that the protein I need to take after surgery has to be whey protein. Does anybody know why or have any experience with this? I’ve done some online searching and collagen protein seems better Thanks, Breanne
