Hey, I too work for he state and hae state insurance and was wondering if either of you were successful in getting them to pay for your surgeries. If so how did you accomplish this and where do I need to start. marek -
Merek: I am actually from the Kansas City area but our insurance is admistrated via SC. I am not a state employee.
My requirement were 1. BMI over 35, 2. Letter from a Pyscologist stating that I was of sound mind to make my own medical decisions. 3. and a letter from a Nutritionist saying that I was a good candidate.
I found that if you CALL THEM and talk to the determination department and find out EXACTLY what they need, it helps.... because each surgeon and each provider (shrink, nutritionist) has their OWN requirements.
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!! The band is by far the best thing I have ever done for myself.. (I am a volume eater, and the band stops that dead it its tracks!)

Hey, Tracey how everythinhg. I'm new to the forum, and was reading through ome of the post and I see you were approved by BCBS of SC. Were you on the state employee plan or regular BCBS of SC. Also, may I get the name and number of the surgeon you used. Any all information and help would be appreciated.
