I need some help here -

MANDA: I can totally relate to you and I'm super excited for you that you have chosen to get the lap band. When I was 17, I weighed about the same as you, and as the years went by, i only got bigger. My intentions were to lose weight but somehow i just couldnt. Now I'm 19, and I just got the lap band 2 weeks ago. I'm super happy and I wish that I could have done this sooner! My parents didnt want me to go to Mexico, even though I'm sure they are great doctors and surgeons there...They chose to do it here in the U.S., around where I live and it cost me about 16,000. They payed out of pocket, which was hard, but it was do-able. I hope that you get everything situated, and on to the road of a new life! I'm excited for you! If you need to talk, I'm here. <3Nina
  5. hi serenity55! i know exactly how you feel....the way you talk about cookies is the way i talk about chocolate and just food in general. the only thing i could say is that we absolutely have to make a complete change. this band is a life changing experience and to be able to even go through surgery, we have to have a changed mind and forget about our old ways. we need to stop turning to food for comfort, joy, or any other emotion that we might be feeling. we cant live to eat....but eat to live. i've had my band for two weeks now...and althought it is hard and i do get my cravings, i always try to focus my attention on something else. stepping on the scale and realizing you lost weight is a great accomplishment. and when i think of cookies and chocolate...i just remember my goal weight.. [which is written down several places, like on the refrigerator] oh yeah and remembering the thousands of dollars i invested on this surgery. good luck to you!! -Nina
  6. wow....i guess each doctor is different. my doctor said liquids for three weeks :crying:...and then one week of mushy foods and then the next week of regular foods. i was banded june 11 and am still on the liquid diet... blah. im super hungry but after weighing myself on the scale and seeing a whoppin 20 pounds in a week and a half makes me feel all the better! GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE AND GOD BLESS!
