    Vitamins

I like pro care health. They are reasonably priced and my labs were fine.

    B12 advice

I’ve been taking pro care one a day multivitamins. It must be enough b12 for me because I didn’t have any vitamin deficiencies on my 3 month labs. I had the sleeve.

    Secret

I only told my husband, mother, son, and his girlfriend. It got kind of dicey because I ended up in the hospital an extra week. I didn’t go out to dinner with the rest of the family during the liquids and soft food phases. Now I can eat regular food and I get a to go box and take most of it home or just get an appetizer.

After surgery am I doomed to a life of throwing up???

It is scary and the first week is the worst. Once you’re into the regular food stage, it gets pretty easy and you forget about the unpleasant first days.

After surgery am I doomed to a life of throwing up???

I’ve only thrown up once in 3 months. The chicken breast I had was too dry. I’ve been able to eat pretty much anything. Just eat a tiny bit of anything you try for the first time. When I eat out at a restaurant, the food lasts for several meals. It hasn’t been bad at all. It’s nice being full from a small meal.

    Peleton App

If you use the app with the peloton bike or treadmill it keeps track of your workout metrics and heart rate so you can see if you’re gaining strength. You can also meet up on the bike with your friends that have bikes and cheer each other on. It’s pretty fun, but I’ve suspended my app because I started getting a pain in my knee when I rode and my favorite instructor left.

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

I’m in the same boat. Some of my medications slow metabolism, so it’s going to be tough for me. Hang in there! We will get there eventually.

    Headache post op

Yes, I had headache and nausea for several days after surgery. You should be feeling better soon.

    Crying over granola

Could you try making your own granola with whole grains? After surgery, I wouldn’t try it until you can move to solid food. I sometimes mix a tablespoon of seeds/nuts with a few ounces of 0 fat plain Greek yogurt and it tastes pretty good. You could probably toast some whole grain oatmeal flakes with nuts and seeds to give you the crunch of granola. After surgery, you’ll probably be satisfied with a small amount, so it won’t be a big deal.

    Diet

I would track all food to see ways to reduce calories while hitting at least 60 grams of protein. There may be lower calorie substitutions you can make or activities you can do to get the extra pounds off.

    Not losing weight

Are you taking medications that slow your metabolism? That’s the problem I have to deal with. I hardly lost anything in December, but January was a better month.

    Food Before and After Photos

You look fantastic! I know you can get where you want to be. I had surgery 11/9/21 at 59 and hope to follow in your footsteps. All the best!

January turned out to be a good month for me and I lost 12.5 pounds. I hope everyone had a good month.

2 weeks post op - not feeling full

I’m the same. I weigh my food on a scale when I’m eating at home.

    Favorite products

I agree about not stocking up on shakes. I still have some from my surgery almost 3 months ago. I put a couple ounces in decaf coffee for extra protein. I seldom want to drink a shake since I can eat food now. I still have sugar free jello and pudding too. I only made it once.
  16. Anyone have high ferritin on lab work? What did you have to do? Just wondering because my doctors appointment is a few weeks away.

    High Ferritin

Thanks so much! My multi does have iron, so maybe that will be dropped. I’ll post again after I see the doctor.

    Old as Dirt

I am 59. I’ve lost 20 since surgery 2 months ago. I am eating much smaller portions. As long as it continues, I’ll be happy.

    Heart valve issues anyone?

I have AFIB and was able to have surgery. After the surgery, my heart rate was really high and my regular medications weren’t working. I ended up in the hospital an extra week until they were able to get the rate under control with more medications. The cardiologist will sign off on the surgery if it will benefit your condition. Weight reduction should also make heart procedures safer if you need to have them in the future. I’m seeing a heart specialist next month and expect that I’ll need to have a procedure to get my heart rhythm back to normal. Hopefully January will be a good month for weight loss. Good luck to you.

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

I hit 2 months from surgery yesterday. In the first month I lost 12.5 lbs. and in the second, 4.5 lbs. I stalled in December and only lost 2 for the month. Nothing I eat bothers me as long as I watch the portion size, chew a lot, and eat slow. I do get hungry between meals and eating slow is kind of hard for me. The sleeve definitely helps to reduce portion sizes, but I have to be diligent since I can comfortably eat anything. I hope everyone is having success.

    cottage cheese

I like tajin seasoning - it’s a chili lime seasoning. It’s good on plain yogurt and cottage cheese.
