    Strange feeling..... COLD

I was feb 2nd, so we were a few days apart. I'm still in the pureed stage, so I find warm oatmeal to really help me when I'm cold.

    Strange feeling..... COLD

I've been freezing cold since my sleeve 14 days ago. I read in one of the comments that a NUT said 80% of sleeves experience coldness. I'm guessing it's a common side effect, but I do not believe it's related to iron.

Any wisdom and tips for upcoming Sleeve surgery?

Hi, I'm on day 13. There's only one thing all my doctors appointments, classes, zoom meetings, and support groups never mentioned to me in all my pre-op months. The pain of the bloating is brutal. The first 4 days I was so bloated and filled with air, couldn't burp/pass gas. The pain was in my stomach, chest, arms, back, and felt like I couldn't breathe. Nothing got rid of this, not all the walking, not the heat pads, nothing. But then suddenly, it went away. So my word of advice is, you'll be super bloated at first, but I promise after day 4 it gets better day by day. Best of luck!!

Keeping surgery a secret? What did you tell others?

I had mine less than 2 weeks ago, and like you, I didn't tell anyone. I told my family I was having a different surgery, at my job i told them i didn't wish to discuss, and honestly i don't know if I'll tell anyone. Maybe one day, right now, I'm not comfortable.

Curious... How long before you could eat your first piece of pizza?

Cauliflower fries, zucchini fries, sweet potato fries...all great alternatives

    Aching belly pain.

If we're feeling the same thing, the spasms after sipping, my dr said it was the stomach recovery. We chopped off anportion of it and sewed it, so he said it was normal. The pills he gave me are like an anti-spasm/anti-nausea pill. Which helped tremendously but honestly, today I'm on day 12, i dont feel those spasms when I eat or drink. It's a process, it's hard, but you slowly adjust as you listen to your body. The hydration was key for me above all.

    Aching belly pain.

I had the pain, too; but it gets better day by day. Did your dr give you medicine for the spasms? Spasms are totally normal.

10 days post sleeve. Sick of all soft/pureed food

Yeah I asked my NUT about that too, she said not in the pureed stage, she only wants me to have melted cheese. She said if I toast it or it gets too hard it can get stuck and cause a blockage. That scared me enough, I'll wait patiently till March for that. She also told me that when I'm able to eat crunchy stuff to make sure I have it with something wet because again it'll get stuck. It's a whole new lifestyle honestly.

10 days post sleeve. Sick of all soft/pureed food

I'm not sure about the sauce. I think it's the sugar content or carbs that's the issue. Not the spiciness.

10 days post sleeve. Sick of all soft/pureed food

I'm 12 days post op, 5 days on pureed. Like you, I've had eggs, yogurt, tuna, pureed my own fruit, and v8 tomatoes juice. All have been very well with me. Today I am tired of eggs so I had sugar free oatmeal, went well. Later today I plan on homemade guacamole (obviously no chips or bread), and some leftover tuna salad I have (pureed). My NUT is not letting me have smoothies or fruit yet because of the carbs. She said my focus must be hydration and protein. I'm excited for my guac though, hehe.

4 day post op gastric sleeve surgery

Did Dr/NUT give you a meal plan? Something that says when you can eat what? Every plan is a little different. I'm in the pureed stage, and I was told I can puree fresh apples, peaches, and pears.

    VITAMINS, PILLS, GUMMIES & PROTEIN

I was put on Iron and vit D after my pre-op labs came back. I took it for about 3 weeks leading up to surgery. The day of surgery they said do not take it. And they have reinforced many times not to take them again. I can however have 1/4th of a multivitamin (chewable) now and I'm on day 12 after a sleeve.

    February 2021 bypassers?

Wow those are great ideas! I asked my NUT for suggestions on the pureed meat and she said "why eat something that looks like cat food when you can drink your protein?" And I thought well okay. So I've been living off of v8 with some lime and salt. Scrambled with yogurt and mozzarella. And triple zero greek yogurt. I think I'm going to try the pureed tuna/chicken today. I was told I could have peanut butter. I attempted a baby spoon of smooth creamy peanut butter mixed with yogurt and instantly I felt blockage, so that was a no-go for me. I tried checking pinterest for recipes and all that comes up are soft diets and I wont start soft stage till March.

    February 2021 bypassers?

Congrats on being down 15! What do you put in your pureed chicken/tuna?

    February 2021 bypassers?

Yes, it did. But not on it's own. My dr has me on a pill twice a day that helps with the spasms and helps with the acid reflux. If I miss a dose, I feel it for sure. So I am taking them right on time. The biggest issue my dr and NUT have is that I havent had a bowel movement since surgery, which was 11 days ago. So they've ordered prune juice and that's not doing anything. I just don't see how I'm supposed to have bowel movements if I'm not eating food?

    February 2021 Sleeve Surgery

I had snow the day of my surgery, but because of covid, I had to go in alone. So I was dropped off at the front door and wore gym shoes. Then I brought a pair of slides and thick socks so the day I left I could wear those. And at discharge, they wheeled me to the car, snow and all. Slides weren't bad.

    Hospital covid restrictions

I had my surgery on Feb 2nd and due to covid guidelines I couldn't have visitors either. I couldn't even have someone with meningitis pre-op while I waited for surgery. My stay overall was good, I did a lot of face timing and when I needed to get up relied on the buttons on the bed. My hardest time was the pre-op, I couldn't stop crying. But the nurses were so nice and comforting.
  18. It depends on your insurance requirements and the plan your doctor uses. Mine felt like a lot but I was knocking them all out as soon as I could. It took me just under 8 weeks, from my first appointment/consult to surgery day.

Pureed - how do I know if I am full?

Noted and will do. Sticking to 1/4 cup 3x a day. I guess that's all I can do till I can figure out what I feel.

4 days post op and I’M STARVING!!!

Did your doctor order you some sort of pepcid? It helps with the spasms and excess acid. It made me sick my first few days but now I cant go a day without it. If you believe you're feeling hungry, can you have another shake since that's the thickest beverage? Or maybe have a popsicle or jello and trick your stomach into thinking its eating? I'm sorry that you're hungry. I actually have not felt hunger since my surgery 9 days ago.

Pureed - how do I know if I am full?

I made some pureed white peaches today and I blended it and although it was smooth, it wasn't what I was expecting. I did not chew it, but I suppose you can? I actually missed drinking today. I made soft scrambled eggs and melted cheese. I had my one table spoon that lasted 20 minutes. It was delicious. I wanted more. But my NUT has me waiting 30 minutes before and after food of not drinking. So I basically went an hour dying of thirst. I was literally counting the minutes. Anyways, from my one egg I made, I have had 2/3 of it. Tomorrow i plan on cottage cheese with the pureed peaches i made.

Lisa, how are egg beaters? Are they runny? Hows the texture?

Day surgery and February 2 surgery date!

And see I cant hold down the shakes, but pre surgery I could. So all I had for 7 days was protein2o and greek yogurt. I pureed some peaches earlier that I hope to have for dinner, so we'll see how that fills me. I dont think it will though. It's like baby food. But who knows.
