Oh ok at least I know I am not alone. If your 21 months out and can only eat 2 bites, I don't feel so bad about it. I honestly don't know if I will ever be able to eat carbs again without feeling so full, and sick. I just avoid it now. I thought at 9 months out I could be eating pretty much what I felt like, but I guess I am wrong about that. I still have a hard time with most meats. I also get very full after a few bites of anything and thought I would be able to eat more at this point.

Oh thank you. I feel so dumb when I ask what all these things mean. LOL -

Yummy salad idea. I can't tolerate regular salad stuff. Lettuce and sliced veggies are really hard for me to digest. I can however tolerate spinach, strawberries, almonds and feta. Not sure about the chicken as I have had a very hard time with meat also. Thanks for the idea. I am def going to try that. -
Oh yes I have also eaten ground turkey and can tolerate that as well. Again, probably because its ground.

How are any of you eating rice? I am 9 months out and still can't eat it. Not pasta, bread, or really any carbs without getting sick and feeling sooooo uncomfortably full (even if I just take a few bites).

Before surgery I would eat fast food at least 3 times a week and sometimes more. I never cooked or hardly ever and if I did, it was all bad, quick stuff like mac and cheese. I do a lot of meal prep now and it is a lot easier to just heat up stuff I cooked earlier in the week. I am freezing a lot of things now also. I put them in portion control containers and just take out one at a time. It is so much easier than I thought it would be. I was never a big soup eater, and now I eat soup at least once or twice a week for dinner. Progresso lite soups are great. I take out the pasta and add chickpeas, carrots and green beans. -

Thanks for the tip. I usually don't like the dressings in the restaurants anyway. I always would get oil and vinegar if they didn't have anything I liked. Now I am ready to bring my own. LOL -
Wow! Thanks for all these awesome ideas. It is so hard to come up with new things to try.

I never thought of just getting an appetizer for a meal. Thanks for the suggestion. -

I haven't nor will I ever eat fast food again in my life. Not just because of the surgery, but because I know its just bad all the way around. I figure I have gone 9 months without out so I can just keep doing it. -

I didn't know you could bring your own dressing to a restaurant? -
I have finally discovered what my system does not like and can not handle. It is anything with the ingredient Maltitol. It is a artificial sweetener, and makes me sick, cramping, bloated, and have diarrhea. If anyone is having belly issues, check the things your eating for this ingredient. I had to change my protein bars to a different brand, as well as a few other things. Thank you for those of you who brought this to my attention. I appreciate it more than you know. My belly thanks you.

I was diagnosed with a thyroid issue back in 2007. I have been on levothyroxine ever since. Before the WLS I was taking 150 mcg. A few months after surgery the doc decreased it to 137 mcg, now this past week she decreased it to 112 mcg's. My question for anyone who has had something similar is, does this ever completely go away so that you are no longer required to take meds for it?

Great advice! Looking at the menu online is a great idea. Also eating lighter for other meals during the day is something I never thought of. Thanks -
My taste totally changed after surgery. I would suggest waiting at least a few months out to start stocking up on stuff. My husband literally bought me one of every brand of yogurt they sell at the stores. I hated all of them. Around month 6 was when I could start eating "normal" again. Meaning I actually started liking the stuff I was eating before surgery (healthy stuff).

If you only eat once a day it makes your metabolism slow down. Your belly has nothing to burn off. -
Portion Control Containers

I am 9 months out and still use portion containers. It helps me to stay on track. -
I am 9 months out and still have a problem with eating any types of meat. It just seems to sit in my belly like a rock. I haven't eaten pork since my surgery. I tried to eat ground beef a few diff times and it wasn't as bad as other meats. Probably because its ground up. I used to eat chicken breasts all the time before surgery, and now can not because its too dry. I can only eat chicken thighs once in a while and eat just a small portion. It is different for everyone. You will know what you can tolerate at the time. Just don't push it or you will feel sick.

Be careful with the crystal light. It has artificial sweeteners and can give you a belly ache. -
