Oh that's the one that hubby said we are getting next. -
No pre-op diet?
HealthyLifeStyle replied to SunnyinSC's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Every doc is different. They all have their way of doing things. My dad had the surgery 5 yrs. ago and he was told that he could never have pasta or rice. He came with me on my 6 month check up and heard them tell me that I could start eating small portions if I felt up to it. He was mad. LOL I was also told that I could never drink carbonated beverages again, EVER. A lot of people told me that they are allowed to. It is very different for everyone. -
Choosing between sleeve and bypass
HealthyLifeStyle replied to lunadreams's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I agree. You are extremely helpful. You always give great advice. Thank You -
Wonder why insurance won't pay for this as part of the WL program? It should be available for everyone at some point after their surgery. I am very curious about getting this done.

I never heard of this. I want/need to get this done asap. Thanks for the info.

New Mattress
HealthyLifeStyle replied to ShoppGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We had a lot of issues with our mattresses over the years. Both of us were overweight which caused us to basically buy a new one every couple of years. The last one we bought, we spent a good amount of money on it. It's called posturepedic and its awesome. -
Nutritionist was NO help at all
HealthyLifeStyle replied to HealthyLifeStyle's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
This is the nutritionist that is affiliated with my surgeons office so I don't know what else to do? She is the only one I have had for the past 9 months. -
Nutritionist was NO help at all
HealthyLifeStyle replied to HealthyLifeStyle's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yogurt really bothers me, the cheese makes me more constipated. I can tolerate eating cottage cheese sometimes. Like I said, I am just going to have to figure it out on my own. She was absolutely no help whatsoever. -
No pre-op diet?
HealthyLifeStyle replied to SunnyinSC's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
They did not make me do a pre op diet either. I was told not to lose any weight or I wouldn't qualify for the surgery. At the time I weighed 216, at surgery I weighed 205. I had the surgery mainly because I was a bad diabetic. I couldn't lose weight on my own. I also had thyroid issues, and a ton of other medical problems. I had the bypass and my recovery was not easy. I was very sick for the 1st few months. I lost 40 lbs. in the 1st month alone. I couldn't eat anything or even drink water without being sick. I had to go on a script of nausea patches that you wear behind your ear. Finally in months 2-3 I could tolerate a small amount of cream of wheat and drink peppermint tea. The months after I had a very hard time eating anything more than a few bites of food. I am still having this problem now. I am 9 months out and down to 130 lbs. and look sickly. I am trying to put some weight back on because I am so skinny. Not trying to scare you, just telling my story. Good Luck -
Ladies! - Swimsuits with a belly flap
HealthyLifeStyle replied to Lilfootie's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
They also have 2 pc. suits with a skirted bottom. I am looking to getting one for this summer. -
I never heard of this. How do you take it? Do you only do it when your severely constipated or for regular maintenance?

Plastic surgery in less than a week 😱😱💕💕
HealthyLifeStyle replied to WishMeSmaller's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
TY for the update. Can't wait to see the pics. -
I am having a hard time understanding why I get so full so quick. I am 9 months out and thought by now that I would be able to eat more. I am basically only able to eat as much as I could at around 6 months. I get full very easily and then feel sick. I cut down my water from 8 cups a day to only 6 thinking that if I did that I would have more room for more food, but that isn't the case. I was getting around 90-100 grams of protein a day and even cut that down to around 70-80 and I am still extremely full all the time. Why is this happening at this stage? Has this happened to anyone else? Does it get better?

I am feeling sick all the time now. I thought this was supposed to get better as more time goes by? I am 9 months out and for the past month or so I feel completely nauseous most of the time. I have been trying to eat a little bit more so I don't lose anymore weight but feeling sick isn't allowing it. I started taking Miralax every day per my docs orders and think that this may be the cause of it? I had to cut back to every other day because it was making me have diarrhea. Now even though I am doing it every other day, I still have diarrhea and a bad belly ache/cramps every day. I called the docs office and they said to keep doing what I am doing and they will see what is going on when I have my colonoscopy. Well that isn't for another month. I used to drink Peppermint tea and that would help but now its not helping.

Some places don't let you order the child portion. -
Stall/Gaining HELP!?!
HealthyLifeStyle replied to Christina J.'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone experiences stalls. I am still going thru it now at 9 months out. Sometimes its 1-2 weeks and others 3-4. Have you tried to increase your protein and decrease carbs and other things? Sometimes it works. Good Luck -

Feeling full
HealthyLifeStyle replied to HealthyLifeStyle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not taking that long to eat, and maybe that is something I should try to do. I feel that it would make me feel more full? I still take the 30 minutes before and after rule to drink the water. Should I still be doing this at this stage? I agree with you on contacting my dietician. Thanks for the input. -
Wow! You are one of the "lucky" ones to be able to eat all those meats without them bothering you. I wish I could eat some of that stuff. Haddock & Salmon seem ok sometimes.

Big belly
HealthyLifeStyle replied to HealthyLifeStyle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
TY for this info. I was afraid of that. I am so scared of getting plastic surgery. My family and hubby are so against it also which makes me even more leery. -
Possible gas??
HealthyLifeStyle replied to lottie2021's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
TY for clearing that up. I have never heard of a cramp being called a stitch before. -

My mind tells me that I want to "try" eating some fries. But my body tells me not to do it. LOL -

I am afraid/embarrassed to appear high maintenance. I don't want to embarrass my husband either. -
Thanks for the info. I recently heard that stretching out the pouch for bypasses is very hard to do. Like you said you have to overstuff yourself on a daily basis. I don't know how anyone could do that without being/feeling sick.

OMG!! You are not 67! You are so pretty and looks so young. I hope I look so good at your age.
