Low carb diet suggestion
HealthyLifeStyle replied to AcidArmor's topic in Vegetarian or Vegan Eating
I still don't eat many carbs. I am close to 6 months post op. I find that I do not miss them that much. I was a big carb eater. Mostly pasta, and bread. I do crave for pasta, but on a suggestion from here, just bought some lentil spaghetti to try. There are other healthy options out there. You just have to find them. As far as protein goes, I add chickpeas to just about everything. Good Luck. -
Covid Vaccine
HealthyLifeStyle replied to HealthyLifeStyle's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Oh ok thanks for letting me know. I know we are all different. If I took that much Tylenol, I would be so sick. -
Covid Vaccine
HealthyLifeStyle replied to HealthyLifeStyle's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am very nervous about it. Both of my parents, in their 70's refused to get it. They think I am crazy to get it, but my doctor highly recommends it for me because of my health issues. -

Jealous Spouse
HealthyLifeStyle replied to HealthyLifeStyle's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Not by the way he says it. He seems scared that I am going to show off my body, and he doesn't want that to happen. Not that I would anyway. -
Jealous Spouse
HealthyLifeStyle replied to HealthyLifeStyle's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Same here. I had the surgery, and he is trying to lose with just dieting. He has always lost more than me, but now not. We eat two diff meals all the time also. He hasn't said much about me cooking. He knows I have to eat certain foods. -
Jealous Spouse
HealthyLifeStyle replied to HealthyLifeStyle's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
No, he doesn't want me to show my body off at all. I can tell by the way he says it. -
Jealous Spouse

No because the way he says it, like he is hoping that I don't wear these things. -

Drinking and eating at the same time
HealthyLifeStyle replied to hel_co's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I am close to 6 months out, and still follow the rules I was given by my surgeon. I don't drink anything 30 minutes before, or after a meal or snack. If I do, I am too full to get my protein in. I have already had to cut my water back from 8 cups a day to only 6. If I drink 8 cups, I am too full to eat all my protein for the day. -

I noticed that you had the sleeve, and I had bypass. I wonder if it will be diff for you. -
I don't have any dumping issues, as long as I don't eat anything over 15 grams of sugar.

Need Help (Puree Stage)
HealthyLifeStyle replied to E. Wynn's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was eating plain oatmeal at that stage. I could only eat a few bites at at time. Mostly I ate cream of wheat. I never pureed any of my food. I just ate really soft food. I actually ate baby food at one point. Like the deserts. Maybe try it. -
Hit a Stall 8 weeks out
HealthyLifeStyle replied to JessicaLY's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My stalls lasted 2-3 weeks at a time. Talk about being frustrated. -
I still have not started a routine yet. I am almost 6 months out. I have fibromyalgia, and am scared to death of being in more pain. Someone else on here just let me know that she just started, and she is more than a year post op. I guess you will know when the time is right for you. Just because your doc says its ok....they don't know how you actually feel. Just my opinion.

Hit a Stall 8 weeks out
HealthyLifeStyle replied to JessicaLY's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
As with any weight loss program, there is always going to be a stall. I have had several of them. I am close to 6 months out. Just keep doing what you need to do. All of a sudden, you will start seeing results again. I know its hard not to get frustrated, but don't give up. You got this! -
That is great news. It will be over soon (I didn't like that stage). You will be able to eat regular food soon, and you will love it. Just remember to chew your food to death..I made the mistake of not doing it, and remember how full and sick I felt afterwards.

Is everyone still peeling their fruits & veggies before eating? I am still doing it, almost 6 months post op. I haven't tried to eat anything with the skin still on. Not sure if this is a forever thing?

This pic is not from today, but from 1/10/21. My sis was recovering from Covid on Xmas, so we had to postpone it until then. This is me, down 75 lbs. and 5 sizes. I feel great, and it was good to get dressed in something other than sweatpants. Hubby did a "photo-shoot" when we got back home. The sweater was given to me as a Xmas gift from my parents. I am Greek/Egyptian, and I love all things Greek Key print.
