  1. I have lost 77 lbs., and 77% body fat. I am 6 months out. I am 51 yrs. old. I have been overweight almost my entire life. I have not exercised at all. I do not have that much extra skin, which is very surprising as I carry most weight in my belly. I was seriously thinking about plastic surgery, but I don't know if I would want to go thru with it. If I can "hide" it under my clothes, then so be it. If I had the surgery 10-15 yrs. ago, then I most likely would have opted for the plastics. I think that age has a lot to do with this decision. Not that I am old, but at this point in my life, I am just happy to have lost the weight, be healthy, and no longer a diabetic, (the main reason for my surgery).

Nausea and light headedness 4 months post op

I am 6 months out. My hair loss is devastating! My nutritionist told me that nothing over the counter will work. She suggested I start taking Flaxseed Oil pills every day. I started taking them in the end of my 4th month. My hair has not started growing back yet, but it has def slowed down the amount I was losing. I noticed a big difference this month. Not sure if the Flaxseed Oil is responsible, but I am relived a little bit.

    Food is disgusting

I had the bypass 6 months ago. For the first month, I couldn't even drink water without feeling sick. I had to get a script for a nausea patch that is worn behind the ear. I could only drink Peppermint tea. By the second month, I could only eat Cream of Wheat, and a little bit of Oatmeal. I couldn't drink Protein drinks until my 4th to 5th month, and even now, I didn't drink them very often. I recently tried the Carmel flavored Fairlife, and I do like that one. I eat raw, unsalted almonds, and walnuts if I get hungry between meals. It is my go to food. I haven't had a problem with it. Have you tried to eat Cottage Cheese? I eat that instead of yogurt, because I don't like yogurt, and it has more protein. I still have a lot of mucus when I eat. I have to spit after almost every bite I take. I asked the doc about it, and they didn't seem concerned. Oh, and if my hubby cooked anything, the smell would make me feel so sick, I would have to go outside to get air.

    R.I.P. Boobs

Have to say that going braless, or just wearing a cami is def a plus for me.

    Taste Changes

I used to eat tuna all the time, but now I hate it. The smell of it makes me feel sick. Hubby made some the other day, and I could not get rid of the smell in my head. It was awful! I noticed that my smell has changed more than my eating habits. If my hubby makes something with cooked onions, it makes me feel ill also. Weird.

    Taste Changes

I used to hate Salmon, but now I love it, and eat it regularly. I used to love Haddock, and now I don't care for it at all. Steak used to be my favorite, now I can't really eat it. The little bit I can eat, I don't enjoy it anymore. I used to love Pork Chops, but have no desire to eat pork anymore, and haven't since surgery. Sausage pepper, and onion subs was also a favorite, now just the smell of it makes me sick. I was a huge salad eater before, and would always have a side salad before my dinner. Now I really don't care for it, and have hard time digesting it. Broccoli & Cauliflower were my favorite veggies, now I have a hard time digesting them, so I don't eat them anymore. I hate eggs, and even the smell of them cooking makes me feel sick. I was a huge ice water drinker, the colder the better. Now I have to drink my water at room temp. These are just a few of the things I can think of right now. I am sure there are many more.

    Stomach Gurgling

My belly makes so much noise even if I don't eat anything. It is so loud that my hubby heard it in the living room while we were watching a movie, with the volume on the tv up. It is a little bit embarrassing, and weird. If I eat something it is so much worse. It is constantly making noises. I am 6 months post op, and noticed it got worse last month. Now it is crazy. Is this happening to anyone else?

    Spaghetti Squash

I made spaghetti squash for the 1st time last night. I roasted it with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Sautéed some baby spinach with parm cheese. When the squash was done roasting, I mixed in the spinach. Layered some marina sauce on top, then added some pizza cheese, and finished with sliced red, and orange peppers. Put back in the oven for about 20 minutes. OMG!! It was so damn good! I will def be making this again. Is this dish considered vegan? Not sure because of the cheese coming from cows milk, etc.

    Raves?

Thanks, for some reason I thought I was posting wrong.

    Raves?

Am I doing this right? Is this section of rants, and raves for people not liking things (ranting) but also for good things too (raving)? I don't want to continue posting where I am not supposed to.
  11. I am looking for some advice on how to get my belly down. I have lost 75 lbs., but my belly is still sticking way out. I look weird because I have no ass, and little chicken legs. Even though my belly has gone down, it still sticks out. From the front view, it looks ok, but when I turn to the side, I look like I am 4-5 months prego. Is there any food I should not be eating, exercises I can do to target this area? I am 6 months post op, and have not done any exercising at all yet. I just want to look normal, and have my belly go with the rest of my body.

    Belly Sticking Out

If I didn't have all the loose skin in my belly, I would probably be at least 2 sizes smaller than I am now. It is the only place that looks fat on me now. I lost weight everywhere else. I hate it because now it looks weird to see just the belly sticking out.
  13. I usually eat dinner around 6pm every night. I then eat a snack around 8:30. Lately I have found myself eating more than one snack at night. I wonder why I am doing this. Last night I actually made myself sick from doing it. I just don't understand why I am doing this to myself. During the day, I am strict with myself, on my schedule, eating only the right portions, etc. Then at night, I turn into this not giving a damn attitude, and try to eat a lot more. I have done it to the point where I have gotten sick twice from it. You would have thought I would have learned from the first time. I get so mad at myself too. It sucks.

    Night time eating

I do continue to drink liquids at night, but it isn't satisfying to me for some reason.

    Night time eating

Maybe I can switch up the times I am eating. I have been on the same schedule since day one.

    Night time eating

Good ideas...taking a bath instead may help me. I can see it now, eating a Yasso bar in the tub. LOL

    Night time eating

Do you save the bar for the end of the day because it is more satisfying than the other foods? I am wondering if I should save something good and won't be tempted to keep eating until I am satisfied by tasting something good.

    Night time eating

I think the TV has a lot to do with it. Last night I was watching it for a while, and noticed that is when my eating started.

    Night time eating

Its not that I am eating bad stuff. It is just too much stuff at night. Like last night, I had a pc. of protein cookie, then about 15 minutes later, I had strawberries with cool whip, then 15 minutes after that I had a bowl of protein granola with almond milk. I am eating the right foods but I am so full by the time I eat the 2nd thing, why eat the 3rd thing? It is truly a mind set.

    Night time eating

It is really weird how I am so good during the day, then nighttime comes and I am like whatever. My hubby tries to help me, but I end up yelling at him. Last night as I am dying in the bathroom, then have to lay down in bed and am crying from stomach pain, he is like "I don't know why you do this, blah blah blah" I am like OMG shut up already!! He just made it ten times worse.
  21. Had my 6 month follow up today with the nutritionist, and surgeon (it will be 6 months tomorrow). They were both extremely happy with my success. I was told that I have done exceptionally well thus far, and to keep up the good work. I have lost 76 lbs., and 77% of my body fat!! All my labs came back good, except I am anemic, but have always been. So now I have to take the bariatric vitamins with 45 mg of iron. I was told to do was to add in some exercise, just light stuff with the tension bands. Only 15 minutes, 3 days a week, then slowly work my way up. I have fibro, so I have to be careful or I will be in too much pain to do anything at all. I am so happy! My journey is far from over, but I am well on my way to being a healthy, productive, active person. My only regret, if any, is that I wish I had this done 10 yrs. ago.
  22. My absolute favorite meat is steak. Filet Mignon to be specific. I waited until now, almost 6 months post op to try to eat it. I could only eat 3 small bites, and it felt like lead in my belly. I was so full, and felt sick afterwards. How long did everyone wait to eat it? Is it too soon? Maybe I should have waited like a yr.?

    Belly Sticking Out

Thanks, I am going to have hubby help me measure. I am very curious now. It seems the "shapes" have changed a little bit.

    Belly Sticking Out

I think you meant when I was bigger. Yes I was an apple shape. Now I think you said in an other thread that I seemed to be a rectangle now? I think I am still an apple because all my weight is in my belly. I wish there was a way to get rid of it without having plastic surgery. I have been researching, and it is very expensive, and I am not sure if I want to be in so much pain while recovering.

    Stomach Gurgling

It is interesting to see that sleeve's also have this. I am a bypass patient and wondered if this only happened to us. This is one thing, they never talked about in any of the classes.
