Yes it is a must to try. You may like it better than the protein shakes. I def do.
-
Mixing in some real peaches might just work. Thank You for the idea.

That is a great idea. I will try it. It will be much cheaper than buying all these other products.

Body Image Issues
HealthyLifeStyle replied to LAJ23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have lost a total of 77 lbs. I am still not happy with the way I look. Hubby keeps telling me that I look "so skinny", and starting to look "sickly". I actually try to avoid the mirror now, more than I did before the surgery. I think we are all so critical of ourselves, and the way we look. I am much healthier now, so that is what I try to focus on. -
Salmon is one of my favorite foods. I couldn't eat it until almost 5 months out. The smell alone, made me feel sick. It gets better with time.
-
Oh Thanks for the good idea. I will have to try this.

Quick Question: Does any liquid count towards water goal?
HealthyLifeStyle replied to XtinaDoesIt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told that only water counted as water. Soup was counted as a meal. Protein drinks were also counted as meal, or snack. -
I have not tried the flavored ones yet. I wish I knew of it in the beginning. I had a very difficult time with the shakes.

What is everyone eating for cold cereal? I am 6 months out, and sick of eating oatmeal. Not sure if I can eat regular cold cereal, or something else at this point. Of course, I wouldn't eat the crappy stuff.

I appreciate your review.

Going to be saving a lot of money on Food, booze and toilet paper!
HealthyLifeStyle replied to Tim C's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All plans are different. My docs told us/my class, not to drink alcohol after surgery. I am not a drinker, so it doesn't affect me. -
That sound delish!! Where are you getting these recipes from? Some people say Pinterest, but I am not on that.

So I decided to try Jim Buddy's Protein Donut, from the Bariatric Pal Store. I got the cake batter flavor. I did not like it at all. I am so mad that I wasted $3 on it! It had a weird texture, and left an awful aftertaste in my mouth. I knew it wasn't going to be like a regular donut, but didn't expect it to be so bad.
-
My nutritionist told me the same thing. She said even though it has more protein in it, it is still processed, and not good for me. I just wanted to try it for myself. I am kind of glad I didn't like it, so I will never buy it again.
-
Its not just the texture of it, even though it was weird. It was the after taste worst of all.
-
I am not really one for experimenting with food too much. If I can buy it, I usually will to try it.
-
The protein cereal doesn't sound so good. I guess it will be oatmeal as usual. After surgery I don't like eggs too much. I have cooked them thinking I will eat them, and end up throwing them away. I am not, or ever been much of a yogurt eater. I am lactose intolerant, and have tried those, but I don't like it. I did end up buying the caramel flavored Fairlife Protein Shake (someone on here told me about it), and I do like that one. I have not tried the chocolate yet. Funny how our taste changes after surgery.
-
I hope it helps you. You too!
-
My doc told me to put ice on it, and it helped.
-
I had the same thing happen to me. It will go away. I had it for about a week or two after surgery. Mine was around the incision, but not on them. I would still ask the doc.

Is it dumping syndrome if?
HealthyLifeStyle replied to amyseattle's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I got it from eating too much/taking one too many bites of food, because I didn't think I was eating enough protein. I should have just stopped when I felt full, but didn't. I started sweating profusely, feeling light headed, then had really bad cramps, followed by pooping my brains out. You would have thought I learned my lesson, but then did it again, and again. I also got it when I ate too many snacks at night. I have not done it now for about a week or so. I am 6 months out now, and at this point I believe I have learned my lesson. -
Support Groups?
HealthyLifeStyle replied to jackie1533's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
This is MY support group. I like how everyone is very respectful of each other. We were all given different diets/plans to follow by our docs. Everyone seems willing to answer questions, and tell their stories, and it helps a lot. -
Cream of Soups

It is so interesting to see that everyone's surgeon/plans are so very different. -
Eating everything before pre op diet
HealthyLifeStyle replied to JustJazzy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I ate just about everything I could get my hands on before the surgery. I didn't have to lose any weight because I was 216lbs. The docs actually told me not to lose any weight. I had the surgery because I was diabetic. Now that I am 6 months out, I can't/don't want to eat any of those foods. I know they will make me sick. I actually don't miss them. I thought I missed/craved pasta, but have tried alternatives that are better for me, and I am able to enjoy them. -
I just had my 6 month follow up, and this was one of my ?'s I had for the docs...to continue doing this? I was told by the nutritionist, and the doc that this will be the ongoing rule forever. Both said it had to do with digestion. Both also said that taking a "sip" of water right after eating is fine. Like if your throat feels dry, etc.
