what changes?
HealthyLifeStyle replied to breonna.schneider's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am now able to clean the house. I felt so bad for my hubby. He would work all day, then have to come home, cook, take care of the pets, and clean the house too. The fact that I am able to now help him, is a huge relief off my shoulders. I used to feel so guilty about it. -
Is your partner normal weight or heavy? How does this affect you?
HealthyLifeStyle replied to Creekimp13's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My hubby is approx. 25-30 lbs. overweight. He has recently lost 20 lbs. just by eating a little bit more healthy. He HATES healthy food, and especially veggies. I love basically all veggies, fruits, healthy foods. Before the WLS he would bring me ice cream, and chocolate every night on his way home from work. It added to my being overweight. Not that I refused it. He eats PB & J sandwiches every night before bed. Something we both used to do. His bad habits, do effect me. I try not to watch him eat the bad stuff. -
I freaked out when I was losing my hair. I was losing clumps of it at a time, and would literally cry in the shower. I even resorted to measuring it. I was losing approx. 3-4 grams every time I washed it (every 4 days). It happened in months 3-6. Now I am almost 7 months out, and happy to say that I am not losing anymore. I know it will take a while for it grow back, but that is ok as long as I am not losing. My nutritionist recommended that I start taking Flaxseed Oil 1,000 mg a day, and increase my protein. It worked! She also told me that none of the commercial products work.

Today's Rant: Bariatric Surgery Lies
HealthyLifeStyle replied to Creekimp13's topic in Rants & Raves
You will have to exercise to get to your goal. Ummmm not true. I have not exercised at all due to my ailments, I can not do much physical exercise or I would be in too much pain. I am only 3 lbs. away from my goal, as of this mornings weigh in. -
I wanted to try the patches so bad when I was first out. I couldn't even drink water without getting sick. My docs would not let me do it. I literally could not take any vitamins thru mouth until around my 4th to 5th month.

Do you have a FULL trigger? I sneeze when full!
HealthyLifeStyle replied to Tim C's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I usually have to let out a huge burp. It just comes out without any warning. It is very embarrassing when people, other than my husband are around. -
Sorry for your loss. Good luck with your surgery. It sounds like you have already made up your mind for better health. That is a huge part of it. If you really want it, you will do it.

I am looking for some advice on how to stop losing weight. I just want to maintain. I already increased my carbs, and portions. I never thought I would be asking how to STOP losing weight, LOL. I am just afraid I am looking too skinny now. My face is starting to look old, and drawn out. My collar bone is sticking out, and it doesn't look good.

Boyfriend rant about food...
HealthyLifeStyle replied to XtinaDoesIt's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If I was the one buying all the groceries, and then is also paying for the more expensive protein snacks, I would be pissed too. Did you calmly explain to him that you prefer for him not to eat your "special" snacks. I think if you approach it in the right way, he would understand. If not, then he better kick in some money. LOL Hubby, and I always used to eat off each others plates, and it never bothered me. Now since my WLS we eat separate meals. He doesn't like most of the stuff I eat, so it's not a problem. -
I am a little over 6 months out. I have always carried my weight in my belly. I do have some loose skin. With this being said, I am looking forward to some type of surgery. Not sure what yet. I still have to wait for another 6 months, according to the docs, but I am sure it won't change the skin much. I feel somewhat confident now that I can cover it up with winter clothing, but not sure how I am going to feel, once I have to wear less clothes in the hot weather. If I had to wear a bathing suit, I would most likely wear a swim dress, or at least something that covered my belly. I could never wear a bikini at this point. I don't even know if I would feel comfortable after surgery.

Everyone is different, and will lose at different rates of time. It sounds like your doing great so far. I wouldn't worry too much. Just give it time.

I "snuck" having WLS
HealthyLifeStyle replied to chiquitatummy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will find that people react differently when you tell them. My parents, and husband were in full support of my decision, and have been my biggest cheerleaders during this whole thing. I am now just over 6 months out. I just saw my parents yesterday, and they were full of compliments. I generally see them once a month. Hubby was very supportive in the beginning, but now he is a little weary of my loss. He keeps asking if I am going to lose more. He has said that I am starting to look to skinny, and sickly. At first I was pissed off, then I realized that he is right. I don't want to keep losing, but it is just happening without me trying. My sister on the other hand has been nothing but a b***h during this whole thing. She has said very rude things to me around Christmas time. We have not spoken since. The way I look at it is this, I did this for myself, and no one else. I did it for my health, and the weight loss is just a bonus. I only told those that were close to me because I felt it was nobody's business what I do with my body. Easter is coming, and that means I will see cousins, aunts, uncles, who I haven't seen since my surgery. I am sure they will ask questions. I honestly don't know if I will tell them about the WLS, or just say I was dieting, going to the gym, etc. -
DUMPING SYNDROME
HealthyLifeStyle replied to DonnaMariaConsuela (MGB)'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't know that Miralax could be used on a daily basis? I made an appt. with a gastro. What is a db dose? -
I decided to try/buy the turkey chili from the bariatric store. It tastes pretty good, and has a great texture. I thought everything was good until the massive cramps, and pooping started. OMG!! I was doubled over in pain for over an hour today. It was awful! I still don't feel well, and wasn't able to each much of my dinner. I will never buy that again! Another waste of $$.

I am past 6 months, and was told from the docs that I should start exercising. I have absolutely no motivation at all. I hate to exercise. I never liked it. It is not because I am lazy at all. It is just because I find it to be very boring. The weather is starting to break here, so my exercise will be to walk around the neighborhood.
-
Well, as a follow up, I am still having bad cramps, and pooping this morning, and I still don't feel good. I was fine until I ate the chili yesterday at lunchtime. Something is definitely not agreeing with me from it. I wish I knew what it was?

Facial Hair

I haven't had to shave my legs for a few years now. I used to have to shave almost every day. It is weird. -
Facial Hair
HealthyLifeStyle replied to HealthyLifeStyle's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Not hormonal. I had a "forced" hysterectomy when I was only 26. My endocrine doc just tested my blood approx. a month ago, and all my hormones are in check. It has only happened after the WLS. -
To get rid of my diabetes. Be able to move around without the use of a cane, or wheelchair. Those are the main things. There are so many others. Too many to list.

What are BEST side effects of WLS for you besides the WL?
HealthyLifeStyle replied to mamabear_2_2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The main one for me is no longer being a diabetic. Don't have to use a cane, or a wheelchair to get around. No more C-Pap machine. Fibro has got a lot better, decreased pain. Going from 13 meds to only 3. Much more energy. Not sleeping for 14 hours a day. Not sweating all the time, having a red face. Feeling healthy, eating good for me foods. Feel good about myself for once. Fitting in my car a lot more comfy, being able to wear my seatbelt, without it squishing me. Much more comfy in my bed, lots more room to move around. Actually looking forward to going to the beach, and wearing a cute bathing suit. So many more things have changed. My outlook on life is much more positive now. -
Yes, thank you. Your one of the people that suggested it to me!

I started eating Joseph's Whole Wheat Pita bread at 6 months out. That is when my docs said it was safe to eat. I only eat 1/2 of a 1/2. That is all my belly can take. I am still eating small amounts of food. I am Middle Eastern also, and we had bread at every meal.
-
I had dumping a few times. Mine was due to eating too much sugar, and eating one too many bites of food. I also got the sweats, cramps, and had to lie down because I felt dizzy/lightheaded. Try drinking some peppermint tea, or eating an Altoids. It worked for me. I also laid on my left side in the fetal position.

Stall on weight loss
HealthyLifeStyle replied to redhead210's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had so many stalls so far. It gets very frustrating. Mine lasted for 3-4 weeks at a time. I am currently in one now. Trying to get to my goal weight now for about a month. I keep getting within 3-4 lbs. then go back up again. Uggghhh so aggravating. I just keep telling myself that its temporary. Just keep up the good work, and eventually it will get past.
