Anyone else have a tough recovery?

I'm feeling out of sorts today too. I felt so good yesterday. Today I started the day by passing out. I have less energy, and more pain. I also caught my drain when I started to get up so I had to deal with that. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using the BariatricPal App

    Post Op Drain

Mine has leaked a lot too. I did get it caught trying to get up, and it pulled a bit, so I blame that. Any tugs to yours? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using the BariatricPal App

    December bypass buddies

I am on day 3 post op. No way can I get my protein in or even all my fluids for that matter, but my group preaches to try to stay hydrated then worry about protein. I'm trying to get one protein shake down and stay hydrated. I passed out this morning, and all signs point to low BP. Also trying to do some salted broth to help with bp. 7. I had a BP drop this morning and passed out. This isn't completely foreign to me as I tend to have low BP anyway and losing weight makes it worse. That's why I had originally chosen band... hope you can shake this soon. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using the BariatricPal App
  8. I was the 15th. Weight fully clothed morning of surgery, my weight was 257. It was 255 naked at home, so I'd say that's pretty accurate. My discharge notes have me at 268, but the nurse said she thought the bed was off. I haven't weighed since I got home last night. I'd love to keep in touch! Lap band to RNY

I had band to RNY on Thursday. Yes, this is a tougher recovery, but I'm so glad it was 1 surgery to go through and recover from than 2. I don't feel too bad, and I'm confident I'll be back to normal before long. I wish you the best! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using the BariatricPal App

    Preop nausea

Well, I left laundry undone. Lol. The clean out took from noon to about midnight. But I actually had an accident in my sleep. ???? You may not get the nausea I had. I have not always been a puker but I tend toward nausea after having my daughter. If you tend to be nauseated, maybe take zofran or something similar ahead of time. On the positive side, I'm well medicated and have no post op nausea. Also, I have a morphine pump I can push once every 10 minutes. I got it at 2 yesterday and have only pushed it 9 times including before and after a walk down the hall. So, I think the recovery is off to a great start. 13. I'm on my bowel prep day for surgery in the morning, and I've been throwing up and had nausea all day along with the poops I'm supposed to be having. In the past, I've always thrown up taking mag citrate. Today, I thought I was doing well because I drank it all and didn't throw up....until an hour and a half later. I've thrown up in 3 big episodes and then when I started drinking my Powerade zero with miralax, I started throwing up again. I am waiting on the nurse to call back and have stopped my powerade zero/miralax mix. I'm wondering if I could take zofran to help. I have to get this down to be ready for tomorrow. Any advice or insight? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using the BariatricPal App

Yeah, I haven't been able to do all the miralax. I did all the mag citrate and 1/2 a box of dulcolax. I'm almost clear now, so I think I'm fine. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using the BariatricPal App

    Pain on left side

Our surgeon sendsome patients home with an abdominal binder. Think of an extra thick, extra wide ace bandage. It puts good pressure on your abdomen and incisions. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using the BariatricPal App

    Pain on left side

My surgery group actually really emphasizes that left side pain is normal and to be expected. The nurse educators did a study on post op complaints and noticed this, so they looked into it further. They actually scrubbed in to the OR. They said for our surgeons, this is the largest incision and the one where the stapler is passed through. They said that wearing the binder you are sent home with as long as possible helps. Don't panic. It's normal, even if it does totally suck! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using the BariatricPal App

    What if? Really worried...

I doubt there is much you c pi ula do. How long have they had your paperwork? My insurance takes up to 15 days to decide on a request. If they respond within their time limit and your surgeon gets booked up in the mean time, while it will stink, I don't think they would be found at fault. It does stink though! I am in a similar spot and worked hard to get mine submitted and then called them several times until it was approved. My surgery is in 2 days. I wish the best for you. post op q's!

And I'm glad you have the post op diet instructions. Yes, programs vary, and mine is very strict, but they also have an extremely low rate of any type of problems post op. They have had 0% return hospitalizations or er trips in the past several years. I credit that to the very conservative program. I'll take conservative if it means safer results! post op q's!

Thanks. Yes, we should keep in touch. Yes, Im on day 6 of my liquid preop diet. We are allowed full liquids on days 1-9 and clear liquids only on day 10. I have had lapband for 7.5 years. It worked pretty well in the beginning. I lost 65 and maintained around a 55-60 pound loss for three years until I had my daughter. I had a complete unfil with pregnancy (I have hyperemesis) and haven't tolerated much fill since then. Also, my thyroid went kaput, so it's been a tough road and I've gained it almost all back, thus the revision to RNY. It was wondeful though because without it, I'm certain I wouldn't have been able to get pregnant. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using the BariatricPal App

Day 6 here. I'm allowed full liquids on days 1-9 and Clear Liquids only on day 10. The first 3 days were the hardest until today. Today I'm not at work, so I've been bored and wanted to eat. But I've been ok. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using the BariatricPal App
