  2. Hey! Yes, it's hard to believe we are already three weeks (working on four) out. How are you doing? I am feeling better and better every day. I have hit some clearance racks this weekend and bought some dresses. I think I will be able to wear those longer than pants. The fit of dresses is more forgiving if they are a little big. It was exciting to get to buy a smaller size already! What have you been up to?

    No Fair!

I can't make you feel any better, but I can sympathize. The same thing, or close, happened to me. I am "eligible" for a fill on August 17 but the doctor is booked up until the 25th. That really stinks! I also have to wait another month (or maybe six weeks) to get a second fill. It kills me how inconsistent the procedures are from one surgeon to the next.

    7/7 bandster question

I wouldn't say mine is like an orange under the skin (it might look that way if I were smaller though) but I do still have some swelling there. It may depend, too, on where your port is. Mine is just several inches below my right breast. I can, however, feel my port now if I gently press around that area, and I couldn't before. BUT, I can't sleep on my tummy yet. That stinks because I'm a belly sleeper and I toss and turn from one side to the other all night. When I tried to lay on my belly, it felt like that muscle was pulling apart or something.

    Surgery Tomorrow!!

I wish you both the best of luck. Being three weeks and two days out, I'll say this is the best decision I've ever made for myself. It's not an easy road, but it is definietly worth it! I am making much better choices, and I am learning to listen to my body. I know y'all will do great!
  7. Who'sThere

    can't stand up straight

Not me...I'd call the doctor...sounds strange. Where is your port? Mine is under my right breast, and that muscle will sometimes be sore if I pull the wrong way or reach too far or something, but I'd definitely call the Dr. if you can't even stand up straight.

    Sharing a funny story

Cute! I wish I had that kind of quick wit.
  9. For me having my gallbladder out was easier. However, that was several years ago and I was 100 pounds smaller, so it's hard to compare. I think the smaller one is, the easier the recovery from any surgery would be.

    Freedom Fighters Weekly Weigh In

Surgery Weight--270 (07/07/09) Today's Weight--258 (07/27/09) Last week I was at 262, so that's 4 pounds for me this week! I couldn't be happier. I expected a smaller amount since I went from liquids to pureed foods, but I guess this is what my body needs right now. Good luck to all!
  11. Four pounds for me this week, and I couldn't be happier. I thought for sure it would slow down since I went off liquids and on to pureed food, but I am pleasantly surprised. I'm thinking my goal may be do-able! Best of luck to all!!! _____________________________________ Blaze21..........255.........176..........176...........16 Hdsantoni.......252.........187..........184...........12 Wyomingirl......376.........283..........281...........13 Aivey.............270.........265..........258...........13 Enchanted......241.........187..........187...........17 Raelita...........331.........310..........310............15 Doramae........305.........257.5........254...........11.5 Jennybeck......252..........228..........224...........14 Bella..............242.........213..........212.6........13.6 Laurr925........285.........225..........225............15 EmsMommy....252.........242...........242............15

    Post Op Foods, Phase 3

Well, I am allergic (deathly) to all types of seafood or shellfish they can test for, so there will be no salmon for me! I have been eating turkey or chicken with gravy to make it moist and baked or mashed potatoes. I have also had green Beans and light string cheese. I did just pull off a bit of sauce and cheese from my hubby's pizza and it was great! My next venture will be some chili which I may have to put in the magic bullet.
  13. That is one thing I did not keep a copy of that I wish I had. Basically, he discussed my weight history, complications that could occur if I didn't lose the weight (I don't have any comorbidities) and my family history of obesity. It was succint but stated all the pertinent information. My surgeon requests the doctor to use the word "recommend" in the letter. Do you have to write a letter to your surgeon? I did. If you want to look at that, I don't care to post it. I posted it for feedback before I sent it and made some good changes. If you want it, just PM me or something in case I don't catch this thread again. Best of luck!

    BTW...good luck tomorrow!
  15. Who'sThere

    psychological consult

This is another one of those things (and there are MANY) that vary greatly depending on the doctor. Some, as mine was, are very simple informal Q&A sessions, while others are very intense with pencil and paper tests that last for hours. You may get a lot of different answers on here, but you will likely not konw until you get there unless someone on here has been to your specific doctor.
  16. Welcome, EmsMommy...the more the merrier!
  17. I'm doing really well. How 'bout you? I have lost ten pounds already, and I couldn't be happier. I did have a litle trouble with my port incision right after they removed the staples yesterday. It came open about a quarter of an inch, but my MIL is a nurse and she was able to close it with steristrips, which is what the doc's office suggested. So far, I have only walked one time, and I really need to jump on the treadmill, but I guess that will come in time. Let me know how you are doing! I can't wait to hear.

  18. I just returned 4 bottles of the Isopure today, as a matter of fact. I tried desperately to drink one bottle, but I couldn't stand it. Even though it was basically clear, it had like a thick tast to it to me. Oh, I thought it was GROSS! I had tried some different sample sizes of Protein powders, and I found some I liked. When I went to return the Isopure, I was going to buy a canister of one that I had tried, and the manager talked me into trying the Isopure powder. It was twice the cost of the one I knew I liked, but she said everyone prefers the Isopure. Let me tell you...that powder was HORRIBLE! It tasted salty! She told me even if I opened it and didn't like it I could return it. For fifty bucks, you better believe I will be doing just that!!! However, I also bought the shaker bottle with the whisk ball, and I really LOVE that!
  19. Who'sThere

    H. Pylori

I think that test is pretty common. I know my surgeon requires it of all his patients. H Pylori is a bacteria that can be in the stomach. If you have it, from what I understand, it can be cured with antibiotics. It wasn't bad. Don't worry about it!

    Any July Bandsters out there?

I feel you, honey! I was banded on a Tuesday, and I went when I got home that day but not again until Saturday. I used to go several times a day, so I thought I was gonna die not going. It was quite a relief!

I'll be glad when I can........

Great thread idea!!! I've got quite a list! I'll be glad when I can... not worry about weight limits on rides shop in the regular section cross my legs in a lady-like fashion sit in any chair comfortably wear my beautiful rings again (without getting them upsized) tie my shoes comfortably see my collar bones wrap up in a regular sized towel walk up a flight of stairs without being winded see my "cat" without a mirror (I know...TMI) Can't wait to read y'alls. I'm sure you'll make me think of other things to add to my list!

    Freedom Fighters Weekly Weigh In

Surgery Weight--270 (07/07/09) Today's Weight--262 (07/20/09) Eight pounds in two weeks is great, but I admit I was still disappointed it wasn't more since I was on liquids the whole time. I only expect the average 1-2 pounds a week once I can eat more normally, but I thought it would be more for my high BMI being only on liquids. Does that even make sense? Anyway, it's a loss, and I'll take it.
  23. Three for me! Yipee!!! I just hope next week goes as well. Any July Bandsters out there?

I was banded on the 7th, so I can't really answer the questions about skin, but I can help with the nausea med. I was prescribed Phenegren gel that I rubbed on my wrists. It was great, too because before I took it, I did get sick, and that was very unpleasant to put it mildly! Good luck, being a week and a half out, I have lost 8 pounds and feel great! It is so worth it!
  25. I cheated, but barely. Every time my husband came and sat next to me with a plate of chips, I ate one. ONE, not two or three or a handful. All in all, I probably had a handful over the ten days. I don't think that's too bad, and I'm just fine now post-band. (I didn't vote because none of the choices fit for me.)
