What could it be? Should I worry?
Who'sThere replied to Who'sThere's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, the verdict is scar tissue. He said he thought it could be, then when he went to put the needle in, he said I definitely have quite a bit of scar tissue. Great! My MIL is an RN and she said the pain may or may not go away. I suppose I might always have a physical reminder of the fat me even when I am slimmer. -

Thanks guys. I go to the doctor in a couple of hours. When I get home, I'll post what he says. Thanks again. -

Sharp Pain on Left Side...what could it be?
Who'sThere posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am having a very sharp pain on my left side. (My port is on my right side.) This happened the other day, but wasn't so severe. It also didn't last that long. It hurts more when I move or breath, but it never goes away completely. This has been for like 30 minutes straight so far, and it kind of takes my breath. I have taken two Gas-X strips just in case it is gas, but so far no relief. Has anyone experienced anything similar? -
Tomorrow's the BIG Day!!!
Who'sThere replied to Soon2B2LittleE's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm only almost 4 months out and I can still remember how excited I was like it was yesterday. It was better than Christmas! I wish you (and all you other posters whose dates are close) the best of luck! This is the best decision I've ever made. I hope you are all as thrilled as I am. -
Way to go! And, don't count yourself out. Nine pounds in four weeks is not impossible. Do the best you can, and you might just surprise yourself.

NEW BANDER with a thousand questions? HELP
Who'sThere replied to Jordangirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well, here's my take... 1. At this point, if you can eat a whole yogurt, you are probably definitely full! I was on liquid only for two weeks after! A yogurt would have definitely filled me to the brim. 2. When you can eat more than you should and are still hungry before it's time for the next meal, you need a fill. 3. At this point, if you eat a solid you take the risk of moving your band. It is probably tacked in place but if you over fill your pouch or eat something solid, you could displace it and it wouldn't heal properly. Also, as you eat solids, your stomach will have to churn more to digest them and that could also cause problems. You have come to far...don't risk it! 3. Yes, you will likely be physically able to eat the things you love again in smaller portions. I was only banded in July, but I can already eat anything I want, really. (That is I haven't tried anything I can't eat if I chew well.) With that being said, only you know if you can mentally eat just a little. If you are a food addict, don't tempt yourself with something that would be like liquor to an alcoholic. Does that make sense? I LOVE pizza. Now I eat a piece (or two really small ones) of very thin crust if I must have pizza. Before, I could have and sometimes did eat the whole pizza. For me, this is the answer...what it's all about. I've lost weight plenty of times in the past by eliminating all "bad" foods. I can t-total it, but only for a while. Eventually, I would go back to eating whatever I wanted because I couldn't help myself. As a result I regained everything and more back. This time around, I am working for a lifestyle change. I will continue to eat anything I want, but in small portions. I can live that way forever, but I don't think I could realistically never eat pizza or chocolate again. Ya know? -
I read once where someone posted that a stuck episode is like "the big O". When you've had one, you'll know it! For me, it is sharp chest pain and the inside of my cheeks go almost numb and Water like I'm going to throw up. I can't eat or even contmeplate it while I'm having one. I've only had four, but those were enough for me. Each time, it was something that I didn't chew well enough.
-
I also had my second fill recently (10/22) and am scheduled for my third on 12/21. It sounds like you and I are on the same schedule. I'm at 4.4cc's but my band only holds 10. I too can feel a little more with this fill. I am hoping that my next one may put me at my "sweet spot."

I'm definitely in! I hope to meet my Turkey Day goal, and I want to set another realistic goal yet one that will still challenge me. Hmmm....I'm thinking 215 (presently 233) sounds pretty good. That is ten pounds between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day. I know there will be temptations, but I can do it!!!

Today is a good day for me. I am down two more pounds which puts me at the 50lb. milestone. I couldn't be more pleased. I think I'll make this goal...yipee!

Do You Feel Bigger Then You Really Are??
Who'sThere replied to ichatter's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, I'm not quite 6 months in, but I will give you my two cent's worth anyway. I am about two and a half months out, and I have lost 48 pounds in all. (13 preop). People tell me all the time how great I look, but I know I'm still very big. (5'3" and still 235 lbs.) I only feel like I have lost weight when I am able to put on something I could not wear before. When I am in front of the mirror, I don't see it anywhere but my neck...not even my face (a lot of people comment on my face). I don't know how long it will take or if I will ever feel like I am getting smaller. I have a long way to go. On the positive side, though, I DO have a lot more energy! That is really the only way I don't think the scales are lying when they tell me nearly 50 pounds are gone. I just finished my second graduate degree, so I certainly can empathize about your master's thesis. Good luck! After my Ed.S. research, I decided quickly there will NOT be a doctorate in my future! -
*Sighhhhhh* (a little discouraged)

I hate to break it to you, but not only my insurance company but also my surgeon requires the 6 month supervised diet. This is to show that you are serious and up for the long haul of the committment. I know how you feel though, as I was wanting to have mine over spring break and it ended up being July. It really does fly by though. -
Whoo, hoo! The fourth time was a charm. I got in and updated. I have 11 pounds to go and 6 weeks to do it. Maybe I will make it after all. I chose to think positively.

Two pounds gone this week. My weight loss is slowing down, so I'm skeptical as to whether or not I will make my goal. However, I do have a fill scheduled for next week, so maybe that will help. I am having trouble getting into the spreadsheet to update, but I'll keep trying.

Well, here I am again posting on a day other than Monday. I've been out of town though, and I figured it's better than not weighing in at all. Anyway...I'm down two pounds this week. Highest Weight: 283 Surgery Weight: 270 (7/7) Last Week: 238 This Week: 236 Percent of WL from highest: 16.6% Percent of WL from surgery: 12.6% Percent of WL from last week: 0.8%

I don't know how many weeks it has been since I last posted. I have been so busy with my second job and additional responsibilities at my first job. Anyway...I know it's not Monday, but I thought I'd weigh-in anyway... Highest Weight: 283 Surgery Weight: 270 (7/7) This Week: 238 Percent of WL from highest: 15.9% Percent of WL from surgery: 11.9%
-
I'm down three this week. Highest Weight: 283 Surgery Weight: 270 (7/7) Last Week: 245 This Week: 242 Percent of WL from highest: 14.5% Percent of WL from surgery: 10.4% Percent of WL this week: 1.2% If I were in Weight Watchers, this would be a milestone. They do something for a 10% weight loss, but I can't remember what it is. I'll just think about what new article of clothing I can buy!
-
Thanks, Bobbie! I'm certainly working hard to get this weight off (pun definitely intended). I really look forward to shopping in the normal section. I still have a way to go, but I'm getting there.

Ughhhh ...when does the burping stop?

Sorry...two and a half months out and still belching here! -
Congrats! My surgeon wants me to get to 140, but my I've set my first goal as 199. I haven't weighed that in five years and it's been ten since I maintained that weight. I'm thrilled for you, and I can't wait until I can proclaim the same news for myself!!!
-
Hey, ladies! I have lost a total of 41 pounds, but 13 of those were preop. I've lost 28 since my 7/7 surgery. I've had one fill, and I have 3cc's in my band. I don't have a lot of restriction, so I'm using a lot of willpower. I also got a part time job because I can't seem to make myself exercise. My job is pretty physical, and my weightloss has increased since I started the job. I work at a video/tanning store, and I have to sanitize the beds after each customer, put up movies, clean the windows, vaccum the whole store, and sweep and mop the lobby each night that I work. If that isn't exercise, I give up! I really work up a sweat sometimes, but I love the job because I get to talk to people all night, and I love to talk! :-) Also, I plan to use the minimum wage money to buy my smaller clothes and save up for any plastic surgery I may need after I'm finished losing. I ramble, but anyway...that's my current plan!

Tired of Explaining
Who'sThere replied to LollyMoe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know what you mean! One of my coworkers had bypass and the weight, of course, fell off really fast. I was worried that I would be compared to her and looked at as a failure because mine is coming off more slowly. So far, though, everyone is very understanding. I totally hear you, though, about having to expalin the difference to everyone. -
