    Any New Yorkers?

I live and work in the Bronx. I’m almost 9 months out from gastric bypass and I’ve eaten out a few times while on vacation. My restriction varies day to day. I’ve eaten salads, sushi even a cheeseburger. But I try to plan my meals by looking at the menus ahead of time. If I’m treating myself to a burger then I will skip the toast for breakfast and stick to eggs and a mandarin orange. Sometimes I eat a bun less burger. I always order unsweetened iced tea and ask for Stevia. I try to find balance.
  2. Congratulations on your weight loss! I posted some of my before and after pics. I was 348 at my heaviest. I was 330 in July 2020 when I began the approval process. I was 310 on December 23, 2020, the day of surgery. I am now 247. My weight loss isn’t going as fast as some. I do eat a bit more in carbs and I work out 4-5 days a week including strength training. I have never felt or looked as good as I do now.

    Runny nose

Yes! I thought it was just me. I had gastric bypass on 12/23/20. I have seasonal allergies so I hope it doesn’t make it worse.

    Any teachers out there?

I’m a Pre-K teacher. I had gastric bypass surgery on Dec 23, the last day of school before winter break. I just returned to work on January 25. Timing was perfect since I would have had two weeks off anyway. I made the right choice by taking off an additional two weeks. I tend to feel a bit tired at times probably due to the restricted food intake. It did give me a chance to rest and prepare mentally and physically to return to work. I honestly felt and looked refreshed! I was cleared by my surgeon pretty early to do cardio and light weights so I did use my elliptical, recumbent bike and weights at home. It also helped that I was able to try foods at home to see what I could tolerate. I would definitely recommend taking off at least three weeks if possible.
