    When will the stall end??

My first stall was around 2/3 weeks out and it lasted like 12 days. Then I started to lose again. I feel like I've been in another stall and have been for the past week+ as I've not lost anything additional in that time. But based on info here and what my dietician and surgeons office have said, I'm doing everything right and I need to stay on plan cause I will start losing again. This is normal and happens to most everyone. You're probably no different. Great news about the meds. That is ultimately my goal too, to be taken off of it all. At my two week checkup I was cut back on my BP meds too and taken completely off the one. Now we'll see in Sept. if they will be reduced again along with my Metformin.

    Strength after sleeve?

Just had my my one month check up yesterday, which I was actually at 7 weeks out from surgery, and they told me I could not lift weights, or even use the bands, until after 3 months. They said in the beginning they just want me to concentrate on cardio then I can worry about toning and strengthening after 3 months. Now that was just my plan/surgeon. I know others here who were able to lift a month out. It all depends on your doc so definitely ask those questions. And of course they will tell you a guideline they like to follow but it will ultimately come down to how you feel afterwards. If all goes well then yeah, it goes according to plan. But if you end up being someone who runs into issues then it could be longer and not according to plan, ya know? I started going to the gym regularly about a month and a half before my surgery. And was surprised at what I could do right out the gate after not having been at the gym in years. I would like to get back to it when I can. Despite the weight I lost since surgery, I do not feel as thought I lost much muscle/strength. If given the green light, I feel like I could jump right back into the gym and be lifting the same weight/reps/sets that I was before. It may even be easier since I've dropped almost 35lbs since then. Of course my situation doesn't even compare to yours as I was not competitive nor was I in the shape that you were physically. LOL Either way, discuss this all with your surgeon. At least then you'll get an idea at what to expect. On a side note, strongman competitions on TV used to be one of my most favorite things to watch on TV years ago. It used to come on regularly every week. I haven't seen it on air in over 10 years. Wish it would come back on again. Best of luck to you.

And that was just one place off the top of my head. I know there are other sites who sell them too. Other stores be it plus or otherwise. Good luck!!

bathing suits that cover hanging skin

Swim dress or skirt. Not sure how you would hide the arms but I do know many people now wear those scuba type shirts/tees to swim in to better cover their bodies from the sun as seen in these pics at the link........ https://www.womanwithin.com/products/chlorine-resistant-zip-front-long-sleeve-swim-shirt/1044196.html#start=1&sz=60&cgid=WW_Swim https://www.womanwithin.com/products/three-quarter-sleeve-swim-tee/1046535.html#cgid=WW_Swim&start=1

    APPROVED!! Travel question

IMO, if you have your surgery the end of Aug beginning of Sept you SHOULD be good by the end of October. I mean, even if you get your surgery the second week of September, by Oct 20-22 that will put you around 6/7 weeks out. That's exactly where I am today (7 weeks out) and I am totally healed, can walk for as long as I want, can now lift and have for weeks, etc. I have no restrictions at all when it comes to that sort of thing this far in. And I'm also on the regular food phase of my diet which will make traveling easier too (assuming you'll be on a similar diet/path). I think you'll be fine. Congrats!!!

    PPI

I was given a 30 day supply to be taken starting the day I got home from the hospital (was in only overnight). Once they were gone, that was it. I thankfully never had issues while taking them or off of them. I'm 7 weeks out today.

    Update On Me (Surgery: 5/19/21)

UPDATE: Today was my 1 month check up with my surgeon (was really his PA). I'm actually at 7 weeks today but they had no other openings closer to my 1 month mark. Anyway, she said I was doing really. She told me that they enter my pre surgery weight and stuff into some program and it gives them guidelines to follow of where I should be with my weight. The following is the guidelines FOR ME and MY WEIGHT and MY PROGRAM. This may or may not be the same for you so take it, or not, for what it's worth. She said at....... 1 month out - my weight should fall between 286 & 293 3 months out - 263 & 277 6 months out - 232 & 255 9 months out - 217 & 245 At a year out they expect my weight to be between 201 and 234. Since my last weigh in was 275, I have already hit the mark for 3 months out even though I'm only at 7 weeks. So she said I was doing really well and ahead of the game. We also discussed my goal weight and she feels I'm being realistic with selecting 180 as my final goal. Although she reminded me I'd still be considered slightly overweight. But yeah, like she said, we can talk about that goal when the time comes. I asked her about being able to start using free weights and/or bands again and she told me no. That I have to wait until 3 months out. She said they only want me to concentrate on cardio for the first 3 months and that I should be getting in 150 min a week, minimum, of that. She said my heart rate should be elevated to the point that I am able to have a light conversation without being too out of breath while exercising. She said the weights and toning can come after 3 months. Bummer, cause I was really expecting to be able to start that again, but it is what it is. So yeah, that's about it. She said I was doing really well with food and whatnot. She did ask about my water intake and I was honest and told her I usually only get in one of my 36 ounce bottles now. Sometimes more. Not for any other reason than I'm not finding myself thirsty otherwise. She said that's fine and to maybe set reminders and to try and get at least 48 ounces in rather than the 64. She said 48 was totally acceptable. Anyway, that's my update!
  9. I had the same complaints/concerns while I was still in the full liquid stage and even the puree stage. You will DEFINITELY feel your restriction once you move on to foods with more substance. I was on full liquids for two weeks after surgery and was soooo over it too about halfway in. LOL Just hang in there.

    Six weeks out and scared??

I was on full liquids for two weeks after surgery. It wasn't until I got into the puree stage (after the full liquid stage), when I was able to eat something with more substance, that the tiredness went away.

Pants Size and Other Bariatric Sites

This is a strange one for me. I swear it takes a LOT in order for me to notice a real difference in my clothes. Since surgery I lost 34.9 but since March 1st my total is 53.4 lbs. I also lost 17.5 inches total since 5/7 which was a few weeks before surgery. Anyway, before surgery I'd mostly wear loose, cotton type capri pants. Those feel way baggy when I wear them but they don't fall down (I think they were a 3x). My shirts seem to hang off my shoulder more (also 3x's). But, when it comes to jeans before surgery I would wear size 28 (a few 30's also depending on the brand/how they were made). I have this one pair of jean capri's that are a size 26 and I use them as reference when I try to lose weight. In other words, if I fit them again I KNOW I lost SOME weight. Well they fit again. Not loosely. But to be honest, having lost all that I have, I still do NOT think I could get into a size 24. This cracks me up because you would think having lost close to 55lbs and 17 inches that I'd have lost more than just ONE pant size. But no. SMH This is the kind of crap that effs with my head and makes me feel like this (surgery) isn't working like it should be. Maybe my body is just too effed up?

    May Surgeries - check in!

No calorie goals were outlined for me in my program until I got to the regular food stage. Then my binder info says to keep my calories UNDER 1,000 a day UNTIL I reach my goal weight. I told the dietician last week that I get around 600-800 a day depending on what I'm eating. She said that was fine and as time goes on I will reach closer to the 1,000 limit. So based on what she told me, sounds like you're plan is similar to mine and you're doing the right thing. Everyone's plan is different.

    Six weeks out and scared??

Yup. I am a lil over 6 weeks out (almost 7, actually) and only lost 34.9! I hit a plateau around week 2/3-ish that lasted like 12 days. Now the entire past week I seemed to have stalled again as the scale has not moved. Not sure why I'm having so many stalls so soon when I have a LOT to lose still (not like I'm at the end of my losing stage when I expect to slow), am doing everything right, etc. It sucks when you're doing everything you should be and it's going slow/stall. I get it. I expressed this to my dietician last week and she assured me I was doing everything right and that I was losing a good amount of weight. She was happy with my progress and told me NOT to compare myself to others and what they have or haven't lost. So I guess I'll just keep doing what I'm doing and see what happens. Sounds like you're doing well too and making similar progress. Congrats!

    May Surgeries - check in!

WOW, you're doing great! I am a lil over 6 weeks out too (almost 7, actually) and only lost 34.9! You lost 45 in a shorter period of time. Awesome! I hit a plateau around week 2/3-ish that lasted like 12 days. Now the entire past week I seemed to have stalled again. Not sure why I'm having so many so soon when I have a LOT to lose still. I'm sure you'll be moving again soon. As will I. It sucks though when you're doing everything you should and it's going slow. I get it. Congrats!!!

    Struggle

Heck yeah!! I am 47 days out of surgery (had mine May 19th) and have missed SEVERAL parties. The first being Memorial Day. That one bothered me the most. I chose not to join because it was just too soon (like a week out) but the thought of everyone out there drinking and eating what they wanted had me upset about missing out. My family eating around me and commercials don't really get to me at all but those gathering/parties really makes me feel left out and it sucks. I have been invited to several more parties since (along with my husband) but they all involve drinking and foods that weren't good for me at the time due to where I was along in the process (be it liquid, puree, etc). Plus I didn't want to 1. be around others who are drinking when I'm the only sober one (I hate that lol) 2. have to explain to everyone why I'm just standing around not drinking or eating (since only a handful of people know of my surgery). My husband has gone without me at my encouragement. After all, he's not on any restrictions. I just had to tell myself this is not forever and only temporary. I am now on regular foods/diet and so I may just go to the next gathering. I'm sure I can find something to eat. Yes, I can eat before we go but when we go to these things we are often there for 6+ hours (all day and night). So eating only once beforehand is not feasible. The drinking I can resist even though I hate being the only sober one. LOL But yeah, I think we all go through this in the beginning especially when we are so restricted in what we can do and have. Once you can get onto a more normal diet I'm sure you'll feel differently.

    Caffeine

I was told to stop before my surgery (especially during the pre op diet) and for a short period after. My plan said once I was getting in all my daily liquids successfully, then I could have ONE cup of caffeinated coffee a day. I have always had no problem getting in my daily liquids so technically I probably could have had the caffeinated coffee early on but I waited until about 3 or 4 weeks out from surgery before I started having it again.

Why did YOU choose your procedure?

I wanted bypass originally but then changed my mind to sleeve before I met with the surgeon. Then, when I met with him, he suggested sleeve due to my medical history with me being anemic. So that just made me feel better about my decision.

    Abdominal pain 2 weeks out?

In response to TripletsMom, Yes, I had that until about 3 weeks out. One of the reasons I could not sleep laying down until that all stopped. If I tried I felt nothing but burning, tugging, and some pain around the incision sites. I'd say give it another week and they'll probably be better.

How much can you eat after 4 months post op?

I was gonna say, I just hit 6 weeks post op a few days ago and have been on my regular food/diet stage for a little over a week now and yeah, depending on the food and whatnot I can easily eat a cup of food too in a sitting (sometimes a little more/little less). In fact, FOR THE DAY, my diet plan says I should be getting in ROUGHLY (give or take a lil more or less depending on what I choose to eat and the SUGGESTED serving size for it) I should be eating 1 CUP of each a day: protein, starch, veggies, dairy.........plus 2 servings of fruits and 2 servings (2 tbsp) of fats. RIGHT NOW I of curse cannot eat all of that in a day. And I just had a call/checkup with my dietician on Wednesday and she said that will come in time and most likely closer to goal. But she was also happy with the amounts I have been eating and told me NOT to be afraid to eat a variety of foods.

    Wraps

I've had Mission Carb Balance and the Folio Wraps. Really like both. I've also eaten Lavash Wraps. I've eaten these for a long time before surgery and have since tried them again after surgery and have had no issue.

    Periods and bleeding

Yeah my periods have pretty much been normal for a decade since going on Metformin for PCOS and IR (was taken off BC pills decades earlier due to high BP). Anyway, the day before surgery I got my period and it was light for a few days (3) then heavy for a few (like 2) then disappeared. Normally my period would come about every 29-34 days. It would be heavy the first two days then end around day 4 or 5. My surgeon told me at the hospital after surgery that it would most likely come on time again in 4 weeks but may be different than I'm used to. He also said I may need to worry about birth control if I hadn't already been on it, but lucky for me my husband has been fixed so no worries with that. LOL Anyway, when it came roughly 30 days after surgery I was not surprised. It was a lil heavier than I was used to but it seemed to end after 3 days! I was shocked and excited about that. However, it was short lived. By day 5 it came back. Not a full fledged period, but enough to be there when I would pee and wipe but not enough to show on a pad, really. That lasted for like 5 more days. Really weird but not too unexpected based on what the surgeon said. He also said my next several periods may be unusual compared to how they were in the past as my body and hormones adjust. I'm sure you're going through the same thing.

    Period 6 days postop

I feel ya on the period thing. I got mine the day before surgery. A heating pad helped with the pain of the period and the extra pain from the gas from surgery and whatnot. Can't offer help on the nausea as I did not experience that at all. Sorry.

    Still a slow loser

Doesn't sound like you're doing anything wrong. My surgery was 5-19 and I spoke to my dietician today (first time since surgery) and we originally thought I lost 24 lbs in that time and she was totally happy with that. Turns out I had recorded the wrong weight and I lost more, but the point is, when we both thought it was the lesser weight it was still considered great progress. She even told me not to compare myself with what others have lost. We're all different. Hang in there and keep doing your thing. As long as you're following the plan you will lose.
