    February 2021 Sleeve Surgery

I didn't have to do any pre-op diet. I got home yesterday and my headache has finally subsided. My incision definitely hurts but it may be because they found a hernia and repaired that while they were in there. Good luck with your surgery!!

    Surgery Done!!

My pain is by my incisions. It is really tight so getting up and down is painful and rolling over in my sleep was really hard. I still have the gas but it seems to be relieving itself. My kids are mortified. LOL

    Surgery Done!!

Congrats! Mine was done on Monday. I am feeling some pretty good pain when I try to move. The water has been no issue at this point because I feel absolutely parched. I wish I could chug the water. Glad to have this board for support with so many having surgery around the same time.
  4. Just got home from my sleeve surgery. I was in the operating room at 7:30 am yesterday. Turns out I also had a small hiatal hernia so they repaired that while they were in there. The pain in my chest from the gas when I woke up in recovery was excruciating. Most of my stay wasn't too bad but I definitely didn't move much. Getting dressed and getting in the car were quite painful. I am home now and took a pain pill so I am feeling a bit better. All the nurses at Hackensack Medical Center in NJ were amazing! I am a bit congested (I think from the anesthesia) and it really hurts to try and cough. I'll check back in a few days and let you know how it is going.

What Should I Pack For VSG Surgery?

Just got back from the hospital and of all the stuff I packed (which really wasn't that much) I only used these: blistex, hand lotion, deodorant, underwear and phone charger I wore home the same clothes I wore there. It was a hassle to get up for the bathroom dragging the IV pole and all so I never washed my face or brushed my teeth. I have now that I am home. I slept on and off for most of surgery day. Today I was up more.

    February 2021 Sleeve Surgery

I am supposed to be under the knife in 12 hours and we are having a huge snowstorm. I am scared they are going to call and cancel on me.

What Should I Pack For VSG Surgery?

WOW! I had no idea. I would use those all the time when necessary.

What Should I Pack For VSG Surgery?

Also, I don't think anything chewable is a good idea. You might be better off with the dissolving strips if anything.
  9. I'm glad you are doing well. 24 hours from now I should be under the "knife".

    Insurance approval

Your surgeon's office may need to push the insurance to get the approval. I am scheduled for Monday and just got the approval today. The doctors office had to call and ask that it be expedited so the surgery date wouldn't have to be moved.

    February 2021 Sleeve Surgery

Ready as I'm going to be I guess. I had no pre-surgery diet to do. No colon cleanse. Been trying to be good this week while also eating all my favorites that I may miss in the near future. I know the thing I will miss most is my wine. The thing I won't miss most is hating my reflection when I look in the mirror. I started packing my bag but it's only 1 night (god willing) so I shouldn't need much.

    February 2021 Sleeve Surgery

I finally got the call around 3:10 pm today that my insurance has approved my surgery and I am going in on Monday. I have to be there at 5:30 am. I am excited and terrified at the same time. My hubby is just dropping me off since there is a no visitor policy in place. No point in missing a days work.
  14. What does everyone use to track their food and fluid intake? I am scheduled for 3 days from now and haven't found anything for tracking yet.
