Mom just died...and my surgery is May 9th...
TheWomanWithin replied to dawner119's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh my goodness, Dawn I am so sorry to hear this. Losing your mom at such an early age is a horrible tragedy and very tough thing to deal with. I lost my mother years ago, when she was 52 from breast/ovarian and lung cancer due to choices she made. While it was tough that she made those choices, it was very difficult to watch her be in pain for so long. I hope your mother was not in pain and that she was well taken care of. Infections in hospitals are a shock sometimes because we think of them as being sterile and clean places to be. I can only say from a personal standpoint what I would do - give your mother a great mother's day present - have your surgery and do something good for you. She is looking down on you and with you always. -
thanks - going to try weed and feed next even commercial round up did nothing, except wash down and kill my petunias that had spread all over - we live on a bit of an incline (see how the paver walkway does?)and it washed into them and they were gone - but the clover came back rofl before we put in the lava rock, we had no clover - I can't stand the smell of mulch so we put in the rock to go with the paver walk and deck in back. that picture was of Feb06 - as soon as some rain came - the plants/shrubs doubled, but the clover came back in droves! we spend so much time digging and pulling the roots out of this stuff, maybe it's not worth it and just get rid of the rock - or is the rock not the problem? DeAnn - go to photobucket.com and sign up for an acct, upload your pictures and then click on the insert image link and copy & past your picture. you might have to resize it with an editing program or paint for it not to be so large. sorry if this question has been answered already

HELP!! Sabotaging Myself With Booze!!!
TheWomanWithin replied to Xann77's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks for that link Kristin - we used to get these daiquiri (sp) mixes like that and have not found them in 2 years, guess they quit selling them in our area. That is about the only thing I would ever have if I drank anything - parties at our house we made those and everyone else brought other drinks. I was a bit bummed when I read no alcohol after banding - 3 or 4 times a year we have bbq's and I thought NO ALCOHOL at all was allowed. Going to order some of those now yummm -A Mai Tai is an exotic pineapple, lemon, lime, orange, rum punch... very tropical and lightly fruity. -
:help: Anyone know what clover grows in this red lava rock? In Feb 2006, we took the whole area up, dug down to the roots, covered the area, sprayed stuff the garden guys told us at Lowe's and replanted everything but the large Palm (?) on the back left. We don't want to take the lava rock out - it was a huge investment, but our HOA requires NO weeds even "clover" in your yard. Maybe they were just talking about the plants themselves :Banane33: We planted yellow delicate ground cover in the dead areas and that has improved it BUT when we use miracle grow to help the plants/trees, the clover just over runs Thanks in advance - seems alot of you have more knowledge than the lawn or garden guys - and we both have brown thumbs! lol

-
Hmmm wonder what she did that she tapped the center of her chest? lol who knows it's been so many years ago I can't remember - is there another gland that is stimulated by doing this or a gland with similar spelling? I have to go research that now - it's going to bug the heck out of me.

TheWomanWithin replied to chabutter's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks Chabutter, I finally looked it up. That sounds like what I need to maybe help with the shin splints from running. Any good brands/names I need to look for? -
thats great Scout, going through the ins approval process is the hard part  glad yours will turn out to be an approval - Ive read things about UHC being the easiest to get approval for - not here in FL that I have found so far. Anyone else have UHC in Florida? I haven't found an ins co. in FL that covers the process yet.

Good to hear you're doing better Yoda. yeeouch on the 2 spots from the tape - not sure if those of you having problems have gotten the tape off. PLEASE ask your doctor about doing this first in case they have any rules against it. A tip I learned from 2 previous surgeries and tons of blood work is this: take a q-tip and some rubbing alcohol and go along the edges of your tape and gently dab over it, keep applying small amounts and it helps the sticky stuff come off.

Omamoon glad you said that - I am being banded May 26th by him and that was my question - did he use staples or the glue woot! does he do glue for everyone? -
What a great article, puts together tons of info I have read/heard over the years. Speaking of Cortisol, anyone ever try Cortislim? About 18 years ago, a bookkeeper I worked with used to hit tap her chest in the center to stimulate her hypothalmus? I thought this was weird so I asked her why? She said her doctor told her to do this 5 times a day to help her. I had no clue with what and didn't think of that word until I read this. Isn't serotonin a chemical you get from the sun or am I thinking of something else? Been a busy day so my brain might be goo at this point.

Can someone help me with the process?
TheWomanWithin replied to Darkwing11's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
try and write down a log, it's best with any situation or doctor etc to keep a log and progress chart of who you spoke with on what date. This way when you call back you can say, I had these tests done on this day and I spoke with this person on this day - what always works too is to say to them: I don't mean to bug you again, I'm just excited to get my surgery done. -

Do you drink with your meals?
TheWomanWithin replied to fiveholts714's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I agree Letha and the sell your firstborn was so funny to me I laughed outloud, I actually said that jokingly and he got this weird look on his face, and said mom! would you really do that? rotfl I have not been banded, have had to rescheduled a few times now. All I know is - since I am self pay aint no way I am going against what my Dr. says my husband would never let me live it down if I did. But, that brings me to a point like Kristin brought up - after researching I have found different doctors have the same basic philosophy but different rules, which makes it hard for all of us to follow the same path. Are there a set of rules/guidelines that each and every doctor have to go by or do they make up their own rules guided by what Inamed has to say based on experience of patients and what they have learned over the years? I don't want to fail because I drink with my meals, thats why I have questioned and gotten advise from others. I drink SO much though I am really afraid this might be my downfall  -
I can understand the concept behind what they are trying to say about the joints and tendons. I would think as long as you start slow and work up to it, when you can run is when you should start? <sigh> I am just so out of the cycle after 6 years who knows lol I'll have to ask when I go to my PcP next week. I just thought it was weird they put the #200 on running. I would question then why - maybe that's what wrong with me! I ask too many questions and think about things too much <slaps self in forehead> My first thought was, individuals over 200 lbs - most major football players, basketball players etc. BUT they are athletes, and look at the larger FB guys omg some of those big guys can run (oh no now Im sounding like my husband)
-
Thanks Kristin  any clue why the exercise physiologist used the #200? I used to run 6 years ago and had no problems whatsoever at that time I weighed 225-240lbs. I ran uphill, downhill and on a flat street. Upteen million years ago, in high school I got shin splints too but that was from not eating and too little Water or so the doctor said - I was 120-140lbs. I saw someone else post about the elliptical machine, and forgot to go look it up - heading there right now hehehe
-
Well Teresa if this were another thread, I might could say, J/K Bah, Im going to push through the stinking pain and just do it until it doesn't hurt anymore. If my surgery date is pushed back anymore I might end up with another excuse not to exercise and feel sorry for myself! Making me feel pain makes it reality lol Im a whats that called Machoist? (sp) lol Yumm did someone say fruit cake? Ive banished all sweet stuff in our house so even that sounds good at this point  Thanks Telly - $6.95 dang Im going to go get one. I might find where I can buy them wholesale through my business and stick them in my store. If I can I'll let ya know.

Do you drink with your meals?
TheWomanWithin replied to fiveholts714's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I tried the SB diet stuff, since someone on another thread said it was good. Can't believe how good the wraps are - with some lettuce and tomatoes, one wrap with a side salad is a full meal and I feel like Im cheating lol 9 net carbs for the whole box was what got me hooked on the turkey & bacon ones
