  1. So I'm seeing that many of you are not breakfast people -- is this correct? I was never much of a breakfast person, but my dietician strongly recommended I eat something daily for breakfast, but I noticed I'm hungrier mid-morning if I eat breakfast versus just having liquids.

    Vitamins

My clinic said the same thing as catwoman, no gummies. But the flinstones complete chewables are on my list of vitamins that are allowed.
  3. I completely understand, but start small so you don’t get overwhelmed. Start with 10 minutes of walking or some other exercise 3 times a week and you can increase from there.
  4. Hello. I’ve noticed I’m getting into a habit of grazing, especially if my stomach doesn’t cooperate during meal time. I’ll find myself taking a few bites of my food an hour later... a few more bites an hour later... and so on. So then I’m not really hungry at meal times. I feel like this isn’t how I should be eating, but I’m not really sure. What has everyone else experienced? I’m 4 weeks post op.
  5. Not sure about the nausea, but for me making exercise part of my routine helped with motivation. If it’s part of my routine, I don’t even get to consider skipping it. In fact, skipping a workout kind of messed up my day after I made it part of my routine. I would pick the days, times, and type of exercise you plan to do and do it for every time you plan it. I would get up 2 hours early in the morning to get a workout in.

    Grazing

@sleeviewonder2021 that sounds extremely frustrating and I am sorry to hear that. I think I am too early out (4 weeks post op) to offer any real advice. I will ask this - are you sure you are counting calories correctly? Other than that, my best advice is to contact your dietician and/or surgeon and discuss this with them. After all, they are the professionals. Sorry I couldn't be much help, but hang in there! It will all work out!

    Grazing

I think that is kind of what I have been doing, @njlimmer. I want to get myself into a routine, but sometimes food just doesn't sit well at meal time so I find myself picking at things during the day.

    Clear Protein drinks

I think they count as both water and protein intake. My dietician suggested I drink those post op because I was having problems drinking the milky shakes.

    Grazing

Thanks for all your thoughts. I am looking to start therapy to help with my relationship with food, because I don't think I'm eating out of hunger and I don't want old habits to die hard. I don't eat a lot at meal time, but I feel like I'm eating a lot throughout the day. I'm also more of a mid-morning and afternoon eater than I am a night eater. I really can't eat much for supper, either.

    Buffalo Cauliflower

I made this recipe. SO GOOD! Highly recommend.

I’m glad you called. Keep us updated when you feel up to it.
  12. Has anyone asked about it? No one asked about mine, so I didn't have to make anything up. However, I have heard of others saying they had a hernia repair, gallbladder surgery, or an ulcer removed.

    Yogurt

I'm one of the lucky ones who has never had any issues with artificial sweeteners.

    Sauces

I just thought of buffalo sauce in with my greek yogurt ranch... if you like buffalo chicken.

    Need help tmi going bathroom

I agree with others about checking with your clinic. I was provided a list of medications that were okay after surgery - I know milk of magnesia and dulcolax were on the list.

    Yogurt

I like the protein content in it!!!!!
  17. My surgeon said after I had been off pain medication for 48 hours.

    Advice Needed Please

Contact your surgeon or their office. They are the only ones who know what you've been through. I had some gastritis over the weekend and my surgeon called to talk to me on Saturday. I think it's safer to speak with someone who knows about Bariatric Surgery and the recovery.

    Sauces

I am a mayo person and have used low-fat mayo. Some other ideas are plain greek yogurt, mustard... greek yogurt makes a really nice base for "dressings." I've made ranch before with a dry ranch packet and a container of plain greek yogurt.
  20. A flavored water or some milk. Before surgery I would end my day with a 90 calorie fiber one bar.
  21. For me, it was extra pillows! I pretty much lived in the recliner in my living room.

    Cauliflower Mac n cheese

Holy smokes, thank you for this!!!! It sounds yummy!!!
  23. I’ve been having some pretty intense pain in my upper abdomen that radiates to my upper back. I’ve been incredibly nauseous and burpy. I haven’t eaten anything today and barely ate anything today. My surgeon put me on an even stronger antacid and scheduled me to have an h pylori test. He thinks I have gastritis. I did some google searching and have almost all the symptoms of gastritis. Has anyone here had it before? What were your symptoms like? What did you do to feel better?
  24. Hi all. Yesterday I was feeling a bit nauseous and having a little abdominal pain. I didn't eat much because I was feeling gaggy and having some abdominal pain when eating. I was even struggling with my liquids. The abdominal pain I've been feeling is like a sharp pain that is in like my upper abdominal area and between my breasts and sometimes radiates to my back between my shoulder blades. It even woke me up a couple times last night. The pain doesn't last any longer than 30 seconds but can be pretty intense. Also, I do not have my gallbladder. I have contacted my clinic and am waiting for them to call me back, but I just wanted to hear your thoughts while I am waiting.

    Lots of pain after surgery?

My incisions weren't that painful, but my abdomen itself was really sore. It was like all the muscles in my abdomen had gone through a massive workout. They gave me a binder to wear around my stomach and that helped a lot. However, everyone heals differently, best of luck to you!
