I’m 10 weeks out and believe it or not I could eat more before until just recently. Now I’m stuffed after a few bites. Did my pouch decrease in size?
-
I’m on my second day of the mush phase. For two morning now I have felt overwhelmingly stuffed from less than one scrambled egg- I hadn’t felt stuffed at anytime in the first phase so when stuffed hits, it hits! Now I get it! Today stuffed moved on to basically feeling sick all day. Then I had smashed blacks beans with melted mozz and avocado for dinner and was able to eat all 6oz without any problem nor did I feel stuffed. So... why do scrambled eggs affect me the way they did and not something that seems like it would be more filling? I’m 16 days post op!

I’ve lost 33 pounds in my first two months lost bypass. I’m pretty happy with this although for some reason I thought it would be faster. The doctor said it’s really going to slow down - I didn’t realize this. Any thoughts or comments? I have 65 pounds to go!

I’ve lost 38 pounds since my surgery on 1/15 and 46 since pre-op. I’m grateful for so many things- I’m actually grateful for the journey. Pre-op was painfully hard for me because I was mourning that overeating was coming to an end. Yes you read that right. Post op was hard because it was immediately a world of unknowns: why did I gain after surgery? why was I hungry after surgery? why did I have a metallic taste in my mouth? why couldn’t I tolerate chicken and eggs? what is this foamies thing that happened twice in one week and only after a few bites? why was my stomach upset all the time? why did I stall after three weeks for 11 days? why was a losing a pound a day in the first three weeks and about 2 a week since? Most of my panicked questions have been answered - mostly by Carrie, but now mostly by myself. The answers for me come when I am calm and collect and redirect my irrational thoughts. I just had major surgery 2.5 months ago. Now I want this to be a marathon and not a sprint because I have so much to learn along the way. And that is a good thing.

I think you should be blunt.

What foods are OFF limits after Gastric Sleeve?
amyseattle replied to JazzyJess20's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I personally think the world is our oyster with food, but you have to accept that every new food you try is an experiment. I’m just taking it day to day. I am not eating sugar or carb dense foods but how can I say I never will again? We are responsible for our choices! -
That’s awesome. No stalls for you?

Seems to be averaging 10 a month and I guess that is perfect!

Some days I can handle a 6” tortilla... but some days I can’t!

I overdid it tonight at dinner and for the first time since my surgery exactly 8 weeks ago. I ate an entire 330 calorie (50 carbs, 12 protein and 10 fat) burrito tonight. I was expecting to eat half but since I never felt the full feeling I usually get, I kept eating. Several things are wrong with this but mostly I’m bothered I kept eating because I wasn’t forced to stop How did my pouch handle that intake without me getting terribly sick?

It was just beans.... so in the world of burritos it was pretty small and less filling than others.
-
Oh how I miss my coffee. I am one week post op. When did you start drinking decaf again?
-
Your weight loss is probably the norm. I need to get the pound a day loss out of my head (that’s what I was told) and be ok that this isn’t a sprint.
-
You are so wonderfully generous with your insight and words. It means a lot. I’m at 600 calories a day now and I’ve recently recognized that 40 gr of carbs a day is probably too little. I’m dragging a bit even with 70 gr of protein, water and everything else I’m doing. So, I was hungry that night and I was with my mom so that combination is dangerous (serious and kidding). Pausing is the key and man, it only takes a few seconds, so I need to get into this habit. So much to learn and as mentioned to someone else it’s so good I’m seeing a good disorder therapist!
-
Being patient with myself is my biggest obstacle right now. I’m 8 weeks out and expect to be an expert and expect my old habits to not come up. Good thing I’m seeing a food disorder therapist 😉

I ate because I still like to eat and was pushing boundaries.... so, I think I learned my lesson to stop even if I don’t get the stuffed feeling.

You rebel!! -
I went in for my 2 month check up. I lost 33 pounds from a surgery weight of 256. They hope that by my 6 month appointment I will be down to 190. I said, well let’s talk about my goal weight. They said 190 is where the surgery (bypass) will take me and from there out I will need to vigorously exercise to get down to 160 (I’m 5’6”/female). I was shocked. I can’t commit to vigorous exercise for the rest of my life. I’m walking about 3-3.5 hours a week. Isn’t that good enough?

How much did you have to lose? -
Oh it was 33 in two months which is good... does it slow down and then rev up at any point?

I’m totally learning that they may speak from an extremely conservative standpoint! She looked at my like I was crazy too and little did she know my goal is 145. -
My overeating is still right there and rears its ugly head!
-
Ok... I wonder how our pouches handled it?
