February 2021 Sleeve Surgery
NiceAnkles replied to LifelongJourney's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have no idea why liquid only for 2 days. I honestly expected to go at least a week or two. I do know from reading here that each bariatric practice seems to do things slightly differently. I don't know for sure, of course, but I wonder if your doctor's office will use the weight you started at prior to the liquid diet. They obviously expect that you'd lose some from that. -

Omigosh softbalmom, I’m so glad you mentioned this! When the tech was getting me ready, she had to attach the ankle leads at least two times because they wouldn’t stay on due to me having put on lotion! I hope that’s all it was too. -
Friday is the day, 1/29, it has been a rough last week.

Oh no! I hope that was an isolated incident for you and all is smooth sailing from here. Pizza isn’t going anywhere. One small slice may not harm you, but I say skip it and concentrate on how awesome you’re gonna feel soon! Best wishes for Friday. 🙂 -
By the way, my family adopted a mostly black kitten in November. My son named him Kevin and he is such a rascal that we affectionally call him Evil Kevin. 😄

Great attitude! If all goes well, my surgery is a day before yours.

February 2021 Sleeve Surgery

Really good but it was a lot of whirlwind action. I am concerned about one thing that could be a biggie. I had to have an ECG and they detected a sinus rhythm which made for an abnormal result. Am anxiously waiting for someone to let me know what this means and if I need a cardiology visit before surgery. I only have to do two days of liquid only which I was really surprised about. And will need another COVID test done on next Sunday. So I’m nervous but moving ahead like everything will be ok. How are you? Your surgery is coming up fast! -
I don't have surgery until 2/4, but I think the feeling of buyer's remorse is common. I am absorbing the knowledge from your questions, so thank you for expressing your feelings.

Hello! Newbie Intro + Feb Surgery

Thank you, ChubRub! Your progress is amazing! How have you found maintaining your loss so far? Easier than before surgery, I hope? -
Hey all, so I've been lurking for about a year, off and on and finally made an account once I received a surgery date. Backstory in a nutshell: This is not my first rodeo. Been on a bajillion diets and yo-yo'ed for too long. Had some success, some lasting years, but my Achilles heel is keeping it off. I like to exercise so mostly that part of the equation has not been a sticking point for me. I started my journey to WLS on Oct 2019. I wrapped up my insurance-required steps by April 2020 BUT initially had been doing so well on my own with losing that I thought perhaps I wouldn't even go the WLS route. Then covid happened and threw me off balance a bit, but I kept to my exercise and keto/low carb diet with success. Things went wonky in June when I broke my ankle and then again in December when I sprained that same ankle (grrrr). All my progress stalled while I healed and it didn't take much for me to gain nearly all my lost weight back in about 7 months. I asked my bariatric team to go ahead and submit my paperwork in November, I think. Processes were slow due to the virus, but I was shocked to get a pretty quick approval and surgery date for Dec 17. That was put on hold, but just this week I received a call that elective surgeries were being scheduled again. I have pre-op visits on Jan 22 with the anesthesiologist and surgeon. I am not sure if I'll have to do a pre-op diet. Guess the surgeon will tell me Friday! I'm pretty excited and trying not to be too nervous about the days ahead. I'm married and have two kids (ages 18 & 20). My username is kind of a private joke. No matter how heavy I am, I've always thought I had nice ankles. 😄 So anyway...Hi! 😊

How do you handle the "How much have you lost" question?

Hmmm...maybe I'll give my response to other questions that are noneyabizness: "Why would you ask me THAT?" LOL -
