    Weight Loss

I wouldn’t worry about a single day’s “gain.” It’s not a true gain, just one of those weird things our bodies do day to day. just stay the course and do all the things your clinic says to do. I know as I try to let go of my old way of thinking about my body, my initial reaction is to want to cut something out/restrict, but with WLS that doesn’t have to happen. Your body is still healing after a dramatic event.

    Sleeve

You may need something with electrolytes like Gatorade Zero. I’d touch base with your surgery center if this continues for you. Hope you feel more hydrated soon!

I HIT GOAL!!!! Validate me! :):):)

    Congrats! You look so good!!!
  4. Protein will be your best friend after surgery! After you discover what your little stomach can handle anyway. Mine still revolts with too much chicken and doesn’t love beef so much now. Waah!

Surgery cancelled due to COVID surge :-(

So sorry for your loss, @Qamilian. 😞
  6. Close to it (like 33 since surgery).

Surgery cancelled due to COVID surge :-(

Yup, it’s a bummer. My VSG was originally scheduled 12/17/20 but was rescheduled to 2/4/21. Hang in there and keep treating yourself like surgery is imminent!
  8. First thing I have is water and I do take my multi on an empty stomach...wait 15 mins then have breakfast. Bfast is usually oikos triple zero yogurt. I was a breakfast eater prior to surgery but sometimes unnecessarily restricted myself and called it intermittent fasting. It was miserable for me.
  9. The last thing I eat is my dinner. I usually have crystal light when I can drink again but no food.

    Weight gaining/stall

You could also have sugar free jello and sf popsicles. They count as liquids. Try some sf Gatorade to help with hydration too. Can you drink crystal light? Tried protein water?

    Stall

What to do? Keep on keeping on. I’m a very slow loser and I try not to get too bothered by it. I try to treat stalls as a breather for my body to adjust to body changes. Patience! (This is to me as well as you) 😉

    HUNGER question- help!

I wasn’t able to eat much at a month out but every journey is different. Are you hitting your protein goals? Are you losing weight? Drinking enough liquids?

    I HATE broth!!!

Could not stomach store bought bone broth! Even ones that were highly recommended. I did however make some kick ass bone broth with chicken bones/carcass using my instant pot. Can you eat sugar free popsicles? They *almost* seem like food.

    I HATE broth!!!

Do you have a Pho place nearby? The broth they use fo their pho dishes are so delicious! I swiped a cup out of my husbands order and loved it so much.

    Hungry hungry hungry

I had my 9 week check in today and one of the things I discussed is HUNGER! I’m hungry but still am only able to eat 2.5-3 oz protein at my 3 meals. I’m not making even the low end of my protein goals (60-90 grams). My RD thinks this is why my weight loss is crawling. I am doing 3 days a week strength training and 3 days stationary bike/treadmill. My level of exercise is too much for the low protein take so rather than pull back exercise, we’re adding in a protein shake. So...make sure you’re hitting those protein goals before adding in anything else!

    Maths!

It does feel so overwhelming at first, but as the others say, it does get easier. I’m only 3 months post-op (today!) and it’s amazing how routine it becomes. Hang in there!

    I Reached My Goal!!!!!

Wow good for you! What has been the secret sauce for your success? Do you exercise? Have you had stalls? Your stats are similar to mine so I’m extra curious. Of course I know our journeys are individual. Thanks for any info!

    Gee, Thanks Mom... I think...

Skinny does not automatically = pretty. That was an uncalled for comment from your mom, but maybe in her bless-her-heart little way she was trying to be supportive? Sorry she hurt your feelings. (Hug)
  19. Yes, I do like them. And yup, the deal sold me on them! I’ve lost 26 since surgery. 228 was my pre-op medical visit weight (and not even my HW). I’m a slow loser but this is still the fastest I’ve lost after years of diets. I’ll take it. 🙂
  20. I take BariatricPal multi One Per Day with 18 mg iron. They’re in capsule form and not too big, so easy to swallow.
  21. I don’t know if it’s standard for my clinic’s practice or for those who had a hernia repair during surgery. I am on omeprazole to prevent a stress ulcer. I have a clinic visit in a couple of weeks when I believe we’ll visit taking me off it. Why do you say it’s hard to get off? I’m so sorry about your situation. I will definitely ask lots of questions at my next appointment. You’ve given lots to think about.
  22. Don’t feel stupid! The newbies (which I am still one of) are learning as we go. For the first few weeks I was supposed to take a children’s chewable 2x a day. I read it as I was to take two 2x a day! No wonder I was constipated. You’re not the only one to goof up. It doesn’t ruin the whole process. 🙂
  23. So you went from puréed food to pasta and burrito? Your program must be different but my next step was soft protein foods that could easily be cut with a fork. It’s more important to make sure your protein intake is adequate before adding other foods. I haven’t had either pasta or burritos but I think they’d produce a doughy bolus (ball of chewed food) that can be difficult to swallow. Not great for a newly healing stomach.
