May Not Be Approved! WHAT?
tracidee66 replied to sunnyd's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just a suggestion, some people have used pictures to cover gaps in weight history. If they are dated they may work as well. -
Insurance approved, date set

Way to go! -
I just got off the phone with the doctor's office that my medical group suggested based on my insurance (which is a whole different set of questions). He's a well respected doctor in the area and has done tons of bypasses...thing is he hasn't done ANY sleeves. The receptionist said that he was "going to start." :scared0: So, opinions please, should I running screaming in the opposite direction? Of course by the time I jump thru all the insurance hoops he may have a few sleeves under his belt, but it's more always better? Thanks in advance, Tracy

I am a slow walker, but I never walk back.

Well, it seems that persistence pays off. It all turned out to be a case of different people interpreting information differently. I have POS plan--so I have the ability to go out of network...although both doctors are contracted providers, I'm still not seeing why I got the conflicting info...but it all means nothing now anyway. I called my preferred surgeon's office and talked to his insurance coordinator (shout out to Lettie!!!!) and explained the situation. She called to double check that the sleeve was covered with this doc as an out of network option and then had me call my insurance to confirm. Long story short I have a consult this FRIDAY !!:thumbup::wink0: So, I guess my journey is really actually beginning. I guess it's really going to happen! Thanks again for all the help. Thank you all for the great replies. I'll ask about DS's when I go to the info session on the 13th. I think tomorrow I'm going to check with the doc I was originally going to go with and see what his record is. I also think I'll call my insurance and how it would be covered if I went to my first choice. I'll also keep in mind that a conscientious surgeon is a good one (usually) and that everyone has to start somewhere! I'll keep y'all posted as the plot thickens, Thanks again, Tracy

Hello everyone, I found this wonderful forum during my research on WLS. A bit about me, my name is Tracy and I'm a stay at home mom to 3 kidlets, a 20 y.o boy, a 4 y.o. boy and a 3 y.o girl. I'm also in school at night taking prerequisites for nursing. I've been overweight all my life, except for five minutes after my first semester of college where I lose about 20 pounds. I hit my all time high of 339 while pregnant with my 4 year old. Like most of you I've been on every diet under the sun twice.finally I got up the nerve to pursue surgery after being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and battling up and down blood pressure and highish cholesterol. I got my husband on board and submitted my first stage of paperwork. Now, I'm getting scared....what if I don't lose weight? What if I actually do lose weight? Arrrgh, I guess I just need stuff to worry about. I hope y'all don't mind if I hang out and pick your brains? Thanks for listening, Tracy

Hello everyone, I'm just sort of beginning my research. I've not quite decided to get the band yet, but, I'm getting closer. A few weeks ago I met a wonderful woman who was banded a bit over a year ago and is down 140 pounds. She was an awesome source of information and encouragement. I'm attending a seminar on July 10th at Sharp Memorial--I'm hoping the info will help with my decision and help reduce DH's fears of me having the procedure. A bit more about me, I'm 42 and the mother of 3 (an 18 y.o., a 2 y.o., and a 1 y.o.). I'm originally from L.A. and have lived in the San Diego area for 6 years. I look forward to learning all I can from the wonderful people on this site. -Tracy
