    Port Revision?

Cheir, I am having pains near the port area and it feels different. I was not able to feel my port unless I laid down and slightly lifted my head up, now I can feel it standing up and I feel like a knot or something. It just does not feel the same and it is sore.

    Port Revision?

Did you have any pain associated with the port being flipped? I have not eaten or dran anything this morning, hope that when I go in, they can just get it over with.

    Port Revision?

I think I might have to have this done. I am actually having pains on the side where my port is and it feels funny. Like it is not in the correct position. I cam going into the Dr office today to see what he has to say, but I am almost positive that this is the problem. I will keep you posted as to what happens an his recommendations.
  4. Ditto to everyone else. I use to sleep with the AC and the fan even in the winter. Now I sleep with a heating pad and flannel PJ's. Too funny. RTEEST- I had my surgery on 6/18- we have lost almost the same amount of weight. I was 250 on surgery day and today I am 187. My goal is 165. Congrats
  5. I had restriction from almost day 1. I have been loosing weight steadily since surgery. I had one fill of 0.5cc in Feb and my sceond of 1cc in 4/1. I agree that your sweet spot changes as you loose weight. I do not know if I am there yet as I just got my fill yesterday but I only want to loose 20 additional pounds and I am through. Then I will be working on maintenance of my weight loss. Happy Sweet Spotting!

    Finally under 200!!!

    Congrats!!!!
  7. You will get there. I just had my second fill. I am at 5cc in a 10cc band. I am not at my sweet spot, as with others, I can more than I desire but I use a liettle will power and exercise. I have been at the same weight for 3 months and I am ok with it. I have lost 60 lbs since June 18, 2009 when I had my surgery. But I only have one fill of 0.5cc and my second yesterday. I do not mind the slow weight loss or the plateaus, I want it to come of naturally as to not have the hanging skin and need more surgery. So far things are good, so take your time and you will get there. I am still looking for my sweet spot as well. You are not alone. Hang in there.
  8. I had my second fill yesterday and my Dr. advised me of a new procedure. No lidacane- that was no biggie, just a little pinch. The biggie is after they drain all of the fulid out, discard it, then refill it with fresh Fluid, this is what happens. You sit up, the Dr. has you drink Water while he fills your band until the water no longer goes down. then he starts to remove it until you can swallow again. I got less fluid in now that when I went in. I had 3.5cc and I only wanted .5cc. I do pretty well. 1st fill after surgery was 10/17/08. Surgery date was 6/18/08. As of today I can barely drink a slimfast shake. I have to take small sips and it is hard to get water down. That traumatized my stomach. It felt like something was stuck in my throat all night and still today. He say's this is a better way to get a more accurate fill but it was painful. I could feel the band tighten up immediately and to have the water stop in my esoughogus (not sure on spelling) not good. In the future: I am ok wihout lidacane and the removal of the fluid and repalcing with the fresh- but I will only get .5cc more than I had previously in without the sitting up and swallowing water. That was a horrible expereince.
  9. It is Saturday, 6 days after my fill. I cannot sit and eat, I have to stand. MY STOMACH IS STILL VERY SENSITIVE. I will most certainly take my fills in increments and not this way again.

    Mexico Danger!

The point is not that the poster uses their real name. The point is just to get the word out. She is not saying to go or not to go, she is only letting you know what happened to her and her husband and to be careful if you choose to visit. Sometimes people take things so out of proportion and totally miss the point of the story. I am glad that you and your husband are ok.
  11. Since he had never done it before, I agreed. I will not be doing this again. This is my second day of liquids and I have to stand to get that down. I am afraid to try food. I will try yogurt in the morning. I hope it goes ok. Thanks for your post.
  12. I was banded in June of 08. They normally just give about .5cc to 1cc for your fills and see how you do. When I went this tmie he said that the Lapband reps came in and showed them a new way to give fills. I am still having trouble getting frozen yogurt down. It feels as if something is caught in my throat and when I swallow, like something is getting stuck. It is better if I stand and drink. I hope this goes away by tomorrow. It is very very uncomfortable and I can barely get anything liquid down. I originally had 3.5cc when I went in. He added 9cc then backed out. I could barely breathe. I just want .5cc fills from now on, I did not have a problem in the past with fills. Thanks for your post.
  13. I do not think that you will have too much of a problem giving it up. I eat it - a slice of wheat toast every morning without any problem. I used to be a bread-a-holic. I love biscuits, toast, cornbread, muffins, you name it but I don't have a craving for it anymore. The toast is all the bread that I have daily. Hope this helps.

    Skin & Stretch Marks

I've lost 60lbs so far and only have trouble with loose skin under my arm. It is not too bad but it is a little giggly. Every where else is good. I do have stretch marks but I had those after having my daughter.
  15. I can eat bread with no problem. I have a grill cheese every morning for breakfast but not much more than that. I can eat rice and pasta but I do not do it often

    Any Regrets?!?

I have no regrets. Like some of the others, I wish I have done it sooner. It is work. I am not hungry but I have surgery on my jaw that prevents me from eating too much. It was not a weight loss surgery. It has been a long time since I have had regular food, it doen't bother me. I enjoy the band as I did not want to lose weight too quickly like the gastric bypass. I am hoping to not have to have any cosmetic surgery afterwards so I don't mind the plateaus. Good luck on your journey.
  17. Keep us posted. I was banded 6/18 and just got my first fill on 10/20. I lost over 40 lbs with no fill and I only got 1cc for my first fill so I hope this will do me good for while. Good Luck
  18. I am in the same boat as you. I was banded on 6-18-08 and and I have lost 40 lbs so far, post op. I had my fist fill on Friday. I got 1cc in a 10cc band. I did not want a large fill as I am doing well without one. I just thought it was time. My Dr. said he normally gives two to three cc on the first fill but not with me and I was fine with that.
  19. Mine is all correct except for my weight as of 10-20-08 is 210lbs. Thanks.
  20. Hi all, I am 4 months out and just want to give an update on my progress and issues. Hair- thinning a lot. Taking Biotin and using biotin shampoo and conditioner and Vitamins, not sure if it is helping but I am doing all that I can. Protein- use whey Protein bullets 42 gram 1/2 in the morning and the other half in the afternoon Fill- I have a 10cc band and had my first fill of 1cc on 10-17-08. I had surgery on 6-18-08. Health- overall I feel great no problems. I have developed heartburn, so if I eat at least 3 hours before bed and lye down, in two hours I am up and in A LOT of pain. So I quickly learned not to do that. Exercise- I work out 3 to 4 times a week mainly walking. Eating- I can probably eat about 1 to 1.5 cups of food per meal. I do not have problems with any foods, getting stuck or slimming. No vomiting or anything. I do sometimes eat and drink but not often and the drink is a sip ( sometimes if the food is a little dry). Weightloss- I have lost 40 lbs since surgery and just received my first fill. Overall- I am glad that I have my band, I use it as a tool as it was meant to be. I do not always make healthy food choice but 80% of the time, I do. I hope this post helps others that are thinking about getting their band or people that have just started their journey and what what they might have look forward to in the future. Good Luck Bandsters!!

    Just want to share...

Congrats on your surgery date. Yeah the hair loss is quite alarming but it is thinning more than falling out and shortening. I am doing all that I can but for me it is a small price to pay for my weight loss. I wear wigs from time to time and in the winter they keep your head nice and warm!
  22. Yes, I have been severly constipated evry since my lapband. I have done accupuncture, miralax, and a host of other remedies. My friend is a naturalist and she told me to take these herbs and all is OK now. I take them once a month for a week and they keep me regular. Wesite is www.herbdoc.com and the product is Formula #1's. They are great. You will go often but not like diarreah or anything. Good Luck!
  23. I have tons of very nice clothes in 20 and 22. I just packed them up for a yard sale. I will be more than happy to mail you some COD. PM me if you are interested.
  24. I am having trouble with my stomach but I am not sure if it from my lapband. 1st of all, I take an eighth of caynne pepper daily in 2 oz of OJ. It is a natural pain reliever and anti-inflamitory. I am about 3 months post op. I just started this regine again about 3 weeks ago. I am thinking that Sour Cream is something that I cannot handle any longer. I had a baked potato and put a little sour cream on it. This has happened to me twice. I ate it about 1.5 to two hours before going to bed. Well in the middle of the night I am waking up to my stomach ON FIRE!!! As if someone has dropped a match in my stomach and I cannot put it out. I have taken Pepto Bismol, Maalox, Cold Water, and Ice Compressions on my stomach. The first time this happened, I thought I was going to have to go to the hospital becase non of the above worked and it had been 2 hours. I finally vomited and all of that up and at the very end, there was a sour taste (sorry don't mean to be gross) Then this happend again last night not as bad as the first time but I had had sour cream again about a few hours before going to bed. My only concern is that the sour stomach burns like the dickens. I am not sure if this is band related, Cayenne related or that is how it is when I have a sour stomach. I could not vomit it up last night. I actually tried to throw it up, but I could not. Today, I have had my stomach grumbling and diareah all day. All I had was water today. I just recently had about 1/4 cup of 15 bean Soup but I started to feel as if I was going to vomit. I kept it down, but I think I will stick to water. The time before today, I did not not eat for two days, I did water only. I will not sour cream again but just curios if anyone else has experienced this burning sensation with a sour stomach. Any suggestions or comments are greatly appreciated.
