Need Suggestions ASAP!
rcoleband replied to rcoleband's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for everyone's advice. I really dont think that it is my gallstones, I am pretty sure it was the acid from the OJ and the cayenne. I have not had a problem since my original post. I guess that I will not be able to use this natural remedy any longer. I realy appreciate everyone. Good luck! -
Lost my carving for carbs have you?
rcoleband replied to Renob's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't crave carbs much but if I have any, i make sure that it is whole wheat. Every now an then i have a grilled chees on whole wheat just 1/2 a sandwhich or whole wheat pasta. I have a thing for grilled cheese and grapes black ones, YUM...O! I eat rice but brown rice. I eat these sparringly. I mostly eat roasted chicken and fruit. I get most veggies by juicing with some of my fruit. I cannot get enough of fresh fruit from the farmers market. 100 times better than the stuff they have in the grocery store. I will miss summer and the fruit that comes with it! -
Need Suggestions ASAP!
rcoleband replied to rcoleband's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for replying. I was thinking that I might not be able to do the cayenne anymore. This does not happen often but I dont want it to happen again. This is very painful. I could not help vomiting the first time but the second time i did induce it because I was in so much pain and wanted to feel better. Thanks for the advice. -
I've got HIVES really bad....HELP!!!
rcoleband posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tuesday night I stared itching all over. When I woke up on Wednesday, I was covered I Hives. On Wed I tried benydril pills and Anti itch creme and nothing worked, I could barely stand my clothes on my skin. I called my Gen MD and she gave me some ointment and pills. They have helped alot but I still feel itchy a lil and I still have the hives. I have stopped all meds (Loritab, Zantac, and Diuretics) I have not called my surgeon yet, I am kind of afraid he will tell me that I am allergic to my band. Open to all comments. Thanks -
GREAT!!! I am 10 weeks post op and feel great. I have lost a total of 25 lbs since being banded, I have not had a fill yet as I am not hungry and I still only eat a little. I exercise daily and weight train as I do not want flabby underarms. I am so very happy with my decision to get the lapband. I know to some my weight loss may not be that much but remember that I did not gain the weight in a month and I will not loose it in a month. As long as the pounds keep coming off I am happy. I have plateau several times and I am ok with that as well. I go on a cruise at the end of Sept and I am hoping to loose another 6 to 8 pounds by then but I hope that you don't mind, I just wanted to share my story. To all that have the horriffic gas pains, port problems, etc. It does get much better. The beginning is much harder than they Dr's tell you. Once you get about 6 to 8 weeks out, it gets very good and you just feel like you again, only smaller. I wish everyone success!! Thanks for reading. Have a wonderful Sunday.

rcoleband replied to JerseyGirl2u's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not sure where you live but I went to the health food store, here in CA is it Henry's. I found Biotin shampoo and conditioner. I bought them both and used them today. This may help in addition to the Biotin pills. My hair is thining as well so I am hoping this will help. It can't hurt. Good Luck! -
Thanks for chiming in. So many times people hear the bad and sometimes in the beginning it is a little difficult but it does get so much better and it is totally worth it. Ijust wanted people to know that it really is not all bad. Congrats to all!!! Lets keep up the good work.

I AM TOTALLY IN LOVE WITH MY BAND TOO! I am 8 weeks out and feeling great. I use to cycle a lot but gave it a rest for a while. I will return to it in a month or so. I exercise 2 days and rest one, then do light weight training. I do not know what size my band isand I have not had a fill yet. I am doing ok with eating and don't feel that I need one. I am glad everyone is doing well and off to a great start. We've come to far to turn back now, so full speed ahead!!!! -
Constipation was worse than the surgery
rcoleband replied to linksmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I understand all of your pain. I was on liquids for 8 weeks prior to getting my band. * I had a previous jaw surgery where I could not eat. My system has not been right every since. I have had to use Senokot but I stopped that about two weeks ago and started going to accupuncture, it is taking a while but my system is regulating itself. I know accpuncture is not for everyone but I have been on so many meds that I just opted for a more natural way. I know it works because I went about three years ago for sever allergies and I have not had a problem since. So for those of you that are not afraid of needles, give it a try, there are no side effects. -
I am about 6 weeks post op and most things have been going well. I am not too restricted in the mornings but yet I do wake to like a lump in my throat. In the afternoons are a different story, after I eat lunch around noon, I feel full the remainder of the day (maybe restricted) I use the word full becasue that is how I feel but I only eat until I am satisfied. So yesterday, I went to Knotts berry Farm and was ok except for the full feeling in my stomach. I only had a small cup of berry punch- NO food. So this morning I woke hungy and I usually do not eat until 9ish. So I warmed up some black Beans and rotisserie chicken and after about 5 bites, I knew this was not going to agree with me Before I could even get up from the table, it was coming back up. Not a good feeling. I still feel like I have a lump in my throat. It has been about an hour or so and I have not had anything else, not sure when I can drink something. I think I stay on liquids the remainder of the day. Thanks for reading, if you have any advice go for it.

When I had my surgery my doc prescribed me zantac. I don't really take it anymore. But I know someone that had gastric bypass and has to take two pills daily to keep gas at bay. Does anyones else take it on a regular basis? If so do you think it helps with the gas?
-
I so understand your pain. I had over a week of it (gas). It got easier over the course of the week but the first 4 days or so, I hurt so bad, I wanted my band removed. I took Maalox Total Care and it helpd with the gas and nausea I was expereincing. I slept slightly reclined in my theatre seating as it was better than lying down (for about 10 days). Then walk as much as possible even around the house. That is what I did. I hope this helps.

PAINFUL gas!!! Help.....
rcoleband replied to nicole1byu's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I totally agree with the Maalox. My Dr. did not tell me and I was trying everything. There is a Maalox called total care in the purple and white bottle. It is the best. Good Luck -
Just a quick note, this is not a quick fix to our problems. As with the sleeve and gastric bypass and all of the other weight loss surgeries, we are going to go through some things- As someone else said you need to be mentaly ready for this. We still have to work at it, it does not come easy. So you really need to decide are you willing to make the changes neccessay in order to drop the weight. The lap band is a tool not a miralce surgery. I am not trying to be harsh but you really need to make sure that this is what you want to do.

Hi Dawn,
I hope all went well with your surgery today. Call me when you can to let me know how you are doing.

Help! My nose is not working right....
rcoleband posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi All, I am looking for any suggestions that you may have to my nose issue. 11 weeks ago I had jaw surgery and 4 weeks ago Lap Band surgery. Lapband was easy because I could not eat from my jaw surgery. I have yet to really eat solid foods. My Issue- meat stinks to me now. I usually have yogurt, yogurt smoothies, Atkins drinks, 42 gram protien shots, Water, Vitamin water, and all of my Vitamins. If I smell meat at all, I nearly gag. Today at work in an attempt to begin eating more solid food (as I have no energy) I ordered a scrambled egg with cheese and bacon on the side- It stunk when my co-worker brought it to me. Later I ordered a chicken salad and potatoe salad- trying to find something that I could have a few bites of and when I opened the chicken salad, it smelled awful. I know it was not spoiled, its just me. It has been 11 weeks since I have had food my jaw does hurt when I chew but now I need more nutrition to make it through the day. I know of you are thinking why is she trying to eat those things and had the lapband, because I do not know what to eat anymore and I need the protien and I am trying anything that I can. I can only eat about 3 to 4 bites and I am full. Not sure if I have restriction or if my stomach has shriveled up from lack of food over the past 11 weeks. HELP ANY SUGGESTIONS. Thanks -
Help! My nose is not working right....
rcoleband replied to rcoleband's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pregnant, NAW!!! My daughter is almost 22, no more kiddies for me. (smile) This is the wierdest thing. Same thing today. I have several friends that have had gastric bypass and they told me you may loose your taste for some things and acquire a taste for this they did not like before. The human body...how interesting. I dont mind loosing a taste for something but to have all meat smell rancid to me is a bit much. Thanks for your comments. -
How many incisions do you have?
rcoleband replied to zeama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't pull tose strips off. They heal really nicely if you don't. I accidentally pulled one off and that scar is a little ugly compared to the rest. -
What a freaky day....
rcoleband replied to hopeendures's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This happend to me on Sunday. I will be 4 weeks post op tomorrow. I have been doing just fine on liquids and mushies. Sunday I tried an egg with cheese as well and that was it. Took two bites and it was like it would not go down. I did not do any slimming, I stopped eating for the remainder of the day. I only had liquids. The next day I only had liquids also. I felt really full and heavy in the stomach are so I decided I may be constipated. Took a laxative and yes, I needed that but still dont feel quite right. Dont have the heavy feeling in my stomach but still feel a little queasy and not sure why. Hang in there. -

when did you start solids?
rcoleband replied to lynnie77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
People have things to say no matter if you are fat, tall, skinny, or short....they always have something to say. Just do the best that you can do. When you fall off, gt back up, brush yourself off and move forward because in reality, that is all that you can do. Don't beat yourself up about the mistakes that you make, we all make them, just keep looking towards the future and guess what you will get there! Good Luck! Slinderella2B- People like your friend drive me crazy, I am with you, I want to make sure that I stay grounded as well because if it was that easy, she would not have gotten a band as well as all the rest of us! to. -
