I know the last thing you want to do is have the surgery all over again like I did, But I tell you I wish I would have pushed a little harder and sooner for the GI. I spent so much time with reflux too. I was up to 300mg of rhinitidine just to control it and to no avail. Take the guessing out of everyones mind and try to get them to give you some help and clear answers. You know you body better than anyone ever will. I felt so much better right away. Best of luck. -
I just got out of the hospital yesterday after my "band slippage surgery". It was a piece of cake (nice choice of words). It really was so much easier than the orginal surgery. I just want to encourage anyone who is thinking they would rather not go thru it again ...... Stop....Do it if it needs to be done.

If you are still loosing weight then trust that you are ok, but if you feel you can't control your food then ask to tighten. Maybe you have a slight hiatal hernia which happens with acid reflux. I understand with the band we are prone to acid reflux but if it comes on suddenly then something is not right. Trust your body. You are the best judge if something is not good.

About 4 months ago I did get some food stuck and had to throw up to get rid of it. Ever since then I had terrible acid reflux and some nausea. We kept taking fluid out of the band thinking it was too tight but I just would return a couple of weeks later complaining again. Finally an upper GI told the whole story. I encourage you to ask your Doc for some type of GI xray to prove it has not moved. I suffered too long. We know our bands and we know when something is not right.

Hi All, I have had my band since Dec. 2008 and have lost 70lbs so far. I was great until last December and since then I have had reflux something awful. I finally talked my doc into an upper GI. Prior to that I kept asking if the band might have slipped but the answer was always no. I did have some food stuck and have to vomit in December so I think I dislodged it. Anyway he called and the upper GI shows it has slipped. Surgery is scheduled for the 17th of May. I am so depressed that I have to start over. I wish he would have listened to me sooner. I have been complaining for 4 months. Any advice? Anyone had to have a "second go at it?" Pattie

Hi all, I had my surgery done Dec.'08 and have been great until 3 months ago. I had a tough time this last December. I had to throw up to get something "unstuck". I have seen my doc and he says I could not make the band slip but I now have some much reflux I can't sleep at night. I did have a hernia fixed at the time of surgery so I know what Gerd feels like. I did have the band tightented in October of last year too. Help! What should I do? Loosen band? More meds?

Everytime I go in for a fill my doc takes at least 10 "stabs" to find the port. He says it is sitting sideways but I don't really want to play around with the amount in my band because I am so sore after the procedure. I am going in next week to have the fill done under flouroscope. Will this help him in the future find the port or do you think he may need to open me up and place it in a better place?

Violent diarrhea help!!

I' sorry to hear about your poor digestive track. But....If you are drinking a protein drink that is not soy or whey based that may be your problem. I had surgery in December of 08 and I still cannot tolerate those protein drinks. They give you the "bullet" in the hospital and boy that just set up some bad nights. The Doc told me to first try to dilute the "bullet" and if you still have a problem then switch to soy or whey protein based drinks and that did it for me. Good Luck and don't give up. -
UCK! Help, I was banded in December of 2008 and have lost 40lbs so far but I still battle with food getting stuck. My GP says maybe I need to "prime the pump" but as we all know the drink prior to meals is a no no. But I tryto chew very samll bites and sometimes I don't even get three bites in and wham I'm in pain for an hour. My surgeon says I may be eating too fast but if I only get three bites in how can it be too fast? I had a problem with GERD prior to lapband sugery and have heard that may have scarred the bottom of my throat? Anyway this is not the way i want to eat the rest of my life!!

Hi December Babies! I was banded on 12-15-08. I have lost 32lbs. so far and have had my ups and downs with fills. I just had my 3rd fill 3-31-09. I did have a bit of a bump when I had a "too muc fill". It really played with my emotions because I could not get anything down for about 2 weeks. It is real strange to be so hungry and not be able to do the basic act of feeding myself. Any advice on how to get back on track and eat the way I should and I know I could?

I have arthritis and I take celebrex but to protect my banded belly I take pepcid along with it. This seems to work fine.....so far anyway. -

PattieW replied to Kage's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I have the answer thanks to another "Banded" friend. "Smooth Move" yes, smooth move is the name it is an herbal tea. I drank 1/2 cup before bedtime and the next day relief. Not a "blow out" just relief. -

I was banded on Dec.15th and am doing pretty well except after my second fill I can't get alot of foods down. They seem to stick in my chest. I can eat the soft and I mean very soft stuff....cottage cheese, eggs etc. But if I try to eat meat even cut the size of an eraser after two bites I have to wait about 20 minutes for these small pieces to go down. I have had a couple of PB'ing episodes. Help:mellow: What am I doing wrong? I don't want to have any Fluid taken out of the band because I am loosing about 4 lbs a week. Thanks:laugh: Pattie -
Oh I know how you feel!! They said this would happen and I did not believe them until......well you know. I tried a product called "Smooth Move" yes "Smooth Move". It is a tea you can get at most GNC stores. It is great! One cup before bedtime and rewards the next morning. Very gentle!
