Post- Surgery Self Care
Rosewyn replied to KelBel3040's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 7 days out and agree with AZhiker that you should consider walking--especially outside-- an act of self-care. I had a couple of days where I was in pain and couldn't so much as take a few steps without wincing, but when you're able, take advantage and go out for a walk. Don't underestimate the power of a hot beverage, even if it's just plain water. Very soothing and a nice change of pace, especially if the rest of your diet is full of cold protein shakes and waters. Also, get yourself a couple of nice, comfy bathrobes. I love the one I have from Target and have lived in it since the surgery. Some days you just don't want to wear pants! -
6 days post-op, sharp stabbing pains. Is this normal?
Rosewyn replied to ArcticFox's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same here. It's odd; I was sore and worn out when I left the hospital, but was able to go for a short walk outside for the next couple of days. Then the next night--bam!-- felt like I had barbed wire under my largest incision. Any time I have to engage my abs--getting up, sitting down, bending over, turning to the side, even just standing in place--I experience sharp pains. I guess those first three days were too good to be true. Wearing shapewear helps; they kind of keep my belly from flopping around and my midsection feels more stable. But man, every time I have to take them off . . . Hoping this passes soon. -
Feeling sick, freezing and overheated at the same time... 8 days out from RNY

I had some hot and cold flashes on Day 2 and 3. Nothing lasted for more than a few minutes and my temperature was normal, too. I hope you feel better soon! -
Gastric Sleeve done 4th January
Rosewyn replied to Neensyb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
January 5th was my sleeve day. I've had a few moments of regret too, but I find the best way to get through those times is to remind myself that it isn't going to be like this forever. Hydrating myself has to be my full-time job right now, so I can only get in short naps during the day, even though I want to sleep half the time. I've been drinking out of a 2oz cup which helps me track how much I drink in an hour. Agreed that it's best if you're sitting up while drinking. Less reflux and bubbles in your chest. Your smoothie sounds so delicious. I'll have to put powdered instant coffee on my shopping list! I think my new stomach will be too tender to drink straight-up coffee for a while, so it will be nice to scratch that itch in the meantime.
