I am being operated on Wednesday morning! I have had a relatively easy experience with the 2 week liquid diet. I have had thoughts of "cheating" but I have not. One of the things that really helped was I eased into it. I started by trying out different shakes and soups. Then I went on the diet a week before my actual start date. I went off because I was going crazy. After "cheating" with some solid food, I went back on. Since then, when I have had an urge to cheat I just remind myself that the diet will make surgery and recovery easier. I also used this period to examine very honestly and carefully what triggers me to overeat. Another tip, every time a food commercial or food laden scene came on when I watched TV, I would change the channel.
