  1. I had a friend who also had breast cancer when she was pregnant. She went ahead and had chemo and radiation and her child was born "normal." The baby is now about 8 years old and doing great!

    protein shots????

I just ordered a case of 12 for $38.00 from supplementstogo.com I don't like the taste of them, but I just pour out 1/2 of the vial and do an actual "shot" then just swish Water around in my mouth. That gets rid of the aftertaste. It is a great way to get that amount of Protein in, very quick too! I have not been getting in the required amount of protein, so I will add one of these a days (split in half at a time) and that should bump me back up to where I need to be. It also helps you not crave sweets (my downfall).
  3. That's Awesome!! I seem to be at a stall between 188-190. I can't wait to get out of the 180's and into the 170's. It has been at least 7 years since I was there....
  4. There is a lot of science to make that claim, if you have ever taken a Physical Education course or even biology you would know this. Here is one site that explains it...scroll down to the section about reducing calories too much.... Daily Calorie Intake for Weight Loss Do a search and you will find thousands of sites stating the same thing.... Good Luck and give it a shot, what to do you have to loose right - just pounds!!
  5. If all you had was 1/2 a beef burger and two spoonful's of cottage pie, then my guess is you are not getting enough calories in. If you are full from eating, try adding in some Protein drinks and see if that jogs the system. Good Luck

    Sweet Spot

YOu will definitely know when you have it. I was lucky and got to mine on my second fill (5 cc) in a 10 cc band. I am still working on learning to eat very slow and take tiny bites. I was on a role loosing but have slowed down. I am wondering if it was because I was not eating enough calories. This weekend included quite a bit more calories, but I am too scared to get on the scale, so I will wait until Friday to see if I maintained, gained, or lost... Good Luck!
  7. I just got restriction with my 2nd fill on Monday. I was kind of going through the same thing this week. But, I have lost a pound every day since then and I couldn't be happier!! I am just having to learn to really take tiny, tiny bites and chew to liquid..I never really knew how fast and how much I was really eating.... You know how they say a portion of Protein should be the size of a deck of cards, well now I can really eat that or less and be totally full....that is amazing to me. No wonder I never did well on diets before... We can do this!
  8. I've lost 13 lbs. and was banded on 3/31. I don't get a fill until 5/13. I may push it back a week or so, as I have had diarrhea for the past 5 days and still counting....:tt2: I definitely am ready for the first fill as up until the previous 5 days, I could eat anything and was having a hard time controlling my portions....
  9. If you are feeling a little nauseous then you might be drinking too much. The materials I was given said I would not be able to drink 8 oz at a time. Maybe try drinking 4 oz instead and wait a while to drink the rest...I think it is just a sip and wait, sip and wait kind of thing until we are further out.... Good Luck.

    Question about CPAP

I'm lovin' my cpap. Except they brought me the wrong mask and I am waiting on them to bring me my nice nasal pillows... I have not had a hard time adjusting to it. I am on a level 12. The only thing that I am having a problem is trying to sleep on my side and stomach with this mask...it is impossible. I think it is a little big too. Things I can absolutely tell is that I am more alert, and not yawning like crazy and can make it more then 5 hours without wanting to take a 3 hour nap
  11. I have surgery coming on Tuesday - 3/31. I have been told the same thing, but I find a little bit of humor in it all as they just don't have a clue and really are not educated on the process/requirements, etc. and I even work in a hospital. All they know is what they see on the news or read and we all know that there is always a reason the writer/journalist is doing the story and it is usually to accomplish something else.... :smile2:
  12. Just wondering how everything turned out. I just had my Upper GI on Thursday (2/12) and got a phone call the next day telling me it came back abnormal with a stomach polyp. My surgeon set me up with an appointment this Tues with the Gastro.... Can you still get the lap band? I guess I will be finding out more in a couple of days...
  13. I have a March 31st surgery date. Hope I make it. Waiting on approval from the insurance company is driving me nuts!

    Anti-Anxiety Drugs anyone????

I take Lexapro. I've taken it for several years. I have never had any problems with it. It has not caused any weight gain or slow down at all.
  15. Hey Sherry, Are you going to be at the support meeting tonight? It is at 7:30 at St. Francis in the St. Catherine meeting room.
  16. Hi everyone! I am just starting the process as well. I am going with Dr. Weaver at St. Francis, partially because I work at St. Francis, and I have heard nothing but good things about Dr. Weaver. I did consider Dr. Woodman for about a 1/2 second, until I read that he told people they were Fat and lazy, etc. I have heard that most of my life, and the last thing I want to PAY my surgeon for is to tell me that. I think that is horrible!! It sounds like he is an Old fart, that needs to respect people who are paying his salary. JMO, so no bashing please.
  17. I just received my paperwork in the mail today and I am already getting nervous. This packet gave directions on the first steps in the paperwork end of things. First get a Psych Evaluation, then get 6 months of weigh-ins from my pcp (not looking forward to having to wait 6 months. I am hoping that we can get around this with my insurance - Definity Health - TN). Then onto the Dietitan appt and nutrition classes. They did include a few medial tests that they felt I needed to have done: A sleep study, and an upper GI. I believe the two above tests may get waived as I think they thought I had been diagnosed with Sleep Apnea and Acid Reflux. On the bottom of the page the secretary wrote that I had Sleep apnea, high blood pressure, diabetes, and Reflux - on prescription. I did mark the sleep apnea on the initial paperwork, but I wrote (suspected) to the side...I wake up gasping for air on rare occasions. I have never had diabetes, I am not on prescription for Reflux (and really don't have a problem with it). I am wondering if she mixed my paperwork up with someone else's. I did email her back my concerns and hopefully this will clear things up... Anyway, I sure did write a lot for my first post! If anyone has any insights to Definity Health - TN insurance or anyway of getting around the 6 months of waiting, I would love to know more...
