I was banded on 06/27/2008 and have my first fill 08/14/2008. I have only lost 13 lbs so far and I feel dissapointed. I know that is a good weight loss for a month but I lost most of it during the two weeks when I was only drinking. I only eat until I am full and have not been counting calories but I try and just eat salads with chicken or tuna and eat the Protein first. Is this correct or should I be counting calories before my first fill. I have started exercises three times a week at a gym and the class is sort of a combination of kickboxing, pilates, etc. I probably should have measured myself huh? Anyway, I just feel frustrated and wanted to get it off my chest. Thanks for listening.

I have started exercising and I am really sore. My scars are healing really fast and I have not weighed since the other day when I whined. I am trying to think as positive as you so if I am a slow loser as well I won't get frustrated. It is hard because I feel like my portions are down like 80% from pre surgery. People are noticing or so they say so that is a good thing. I feel great since I have gotten off of the caffiene as well. I never realized that would make me feel so much better. Talk to you soon. -
Im getting my first fill tomorrow.

 what was the feeling after the fill when you ate? I already try and just stop when I am full and chew carefully etc. but I was curious because I am already not eating very much. Maybe I am still healing and it is sort of like having a fill. It has not yet been 4 weeks for me. -

I am so crazy, I weigh myself everyday and I have lost 13 pounds since being banded on the 27th of June but I have not lost any weight this past week at all. I am eating until I am full and trying to eat the protein first etc. I am also not eating anything bad for me and I am getting upset. I know I should not weigh everyday but I just can't seem to help myself. Good Luck to you and maybe I can stay off of the scale. -

Let me know what the first fill was like. I go in a few weeks and I have not lost any weight in about a week. I hope it went well. -
Terrible shoulder pain

Yes, the shoulder pain from the gas hurt worse than anything else and hurt until around week three for me. A heating pad helped ease it some! -

That makes me nervous to be put on mushy foods! I have not been adding any protein into my diet right now because the kind I bought tastes terrible. I am getting it in a yogurt smoothie but that is not that much. The nurse says it is ok and not to worry about it. I go to the doctor for my first check up on Thursday the 10th of July. I think I have lost around 10 lbs. I guess I need to start exercising soon...Have you started doing anything? -

Your protein shake is not a meal replacement is it? I have not graduated to mushy foods but I do know that if it is a meal replacement protein shake it will have a lot more calories in it...................Just check and see how many calories are in the shake you are drinking. -

You said it better than me! You should not be deterring from the guidelines set in place by the nutritionist! -
I certainly was! I got banded on the 27th of June which was a week last Friday. I was so nervous I was making a mistake etc. I am glad it is done now and you will be as well. I already feel better. I go to the Doctor on the 10th ad I think I have lost around 10lbs. I know it will get harder but I can do it and so can you. I have not been hungry but a couple of times!

Friday was a week for me and I have lost about 10 LBS but I have not had any mushy foods nor have I had any solid food. I totally followed the guideline of eating (drinking) something every hour or as best as I could. Mushy food should not come until after I go to the doctor on the 10th. I also FEEL like I could eat with no problem but I think following what the tell you to do is best practice.......................I don't know if I have helped..........Good Luck! -
I just had the band put in on Friday. Some of the things I read make me feel nervous and like this was stupid if nothing is going to work. It sounds very inconsistent. I hope I did the right thing since I will be paying out of pocket. WOW, I don't know what else to say.

I am also in Texas! I guess there are people all over the country on the board! I sure have appreciated the positive talk. Last Friday seems a world a way now that I am on this side of the procedure. I really got all my bills in order to be able to pay for this and YESTERDAY my car insurance went up 100.00 for no reason and I got my first payment for the lap band and it is almost 75.00 more than I had budgeted for. I can do it but is so ironic the way things happen when you are trying so hard. I did very well and did not get upset about it. Seriously, what can I do but my best in both the lap band and my finances! Do you think when they say you can have creamed soups that would mean it is ok to peel and boil sqaush and puree it? It is going down fine and I didn't put any fat in it so I hope it is ok............learning and praying!

thanks so much!

you have said everything I was feeling. I was so disheartened when I read some of the posts that I just felt confused. Thanks for letting me know you are feeling the same things that I am. I would love to continue hearing about your progress. I am in Texas and I had my surgery in Louisiana.

then I want to talk to you! Everyone else says they continue to go to taco bell etc. and I don't want to do that as I am sure they do not. I just need some encouragement. Congratulations to you! mbrocato@yahoo.com

I have not had my band surgery yet but I just wanted to tell you not to feel like a failure!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone's body is different and you can't judge what is happening to you against what is happening to others! You are brave for just having the surgery and it will happen for you...........

I get the Lap Band on the 27th of June and I am nervous. Will I do well???? I have so many questions and no answers.

You are so nice for answering me! Nobody really wants to discuss it with me, it is like it is taboo! I will look around and ask some questions as they come to me! Thanks Again!
