I did with a hiatal hernia repair on 11/30. Went very well. Only soreness was the incision where he pulled out the stomach. Stayed sore for a couple of weeks.

Boost Glucose Control chocolate, Ensure Max Protein, or Fairlife 30grams. I have found that powders are not for me.

Yesterday I tossed two leftovers. I was raised not to waste food but when I thought about saving it it would make me a little queasy. I am only 36 days out so barely in Phase 4. I'm not into cooking much so easier the better.

Hi. I had the band surgery May 2010 and it only worked for a couple of years. So after gaining my weight back, about 65#, primary doctor suggested sleeve. Went through all the steps last year for my date 11/21/2019. However, surgeon had difficulty removing band and port due to severe scar tissue. Still didn't get hiatal hernia repair either. Gained back pre-surgery weight as required, started process again that April with Dietitian but after 3 months canceled due to weight gain, then in August lost 33 lbs using Optavia program by mid-November and set date Nov 30th. Since then I've lost another 19#. Well worth it.

I had mine Nov 30th along with hiatal hernia repair and all went well. No hesitation as I had to try again after an attempt on Oct 21, 2019. Surgeon had a very difficult time taking out my Gastric Band and port due to extensive scar tissue.

4 minutes ago, Arabesque said:I know green tea is promoted as an aide for weight loss but the reality has not been true for me. Believe me 17 odd years of drinking it did nothing for my weight. Lol! Maybe it does if you drink green tea instead of ice coffee or hot chocolate or carbonated drinks, etc.
I started drinking it for the anti oxidants & low caffeine.
I guess I left something out......it needs to be hot. He said ice tea loses some of the important properties needed. I started drinking 10oz a day plus at least one 16.9oz bottle of Water.

I was down to 284 before my first try at VSG but wasn't meant to be as Band had to come out first and took too long to remove for a safe VSG. So I knew I had to wait until after May this year for my Medicare and Supplemental was active. Well, I gained all that weight back. So 8/10/20 I contacted a health coach I knew from before and at 304 began a 3 month journey so I could have VSG by 11/30/20. By second week in November I was down 33lbs. I am now 1.2 lbs from 50 lost.

I am 65 and had no problem getting the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy on 11/30/20. In fact very little pain except the incision where the cut away part is pulled out. Mine is still a little tender but not an issue. I don't trust weight loss meds.

Full liquids for Protein Shakes are fine as long as low in sugar. Clear Liquids you can use unflavored Protein Powder. genpro has been recommended but I don't like it.

Dr. Rekkas and his staff are 5-star group at Manatee Weight Loss Center are great. He is thorough, straightforward, and no-nonse. So if you are looking for a caring and cautious surgeon, and live around Manatee County, FL, give them a call.

I get it. Went for band revision on 10/21/19 to do the sleeve. So until 11/30/20. I still found rare occasions for food sticking. Sleeve wasn't done last year due to scar tissue so that is why I had issues.

Gastric band - been there, done that. Stopped working and I never felt full. So last year after my weight went back up I decided to have the revision and get the sleeve but due to the build up of scar tissue (surgery was May 2010), surgeon ran out of time to do the VSG safely. So had to wait until 11/30/20 and finally all was completed. I was told he might have to do the bypass and I prayed so hard that didn't happen. I'm 65 and glad I did it.

I had the band surgery May 2010. I would not recommend it to anyone as after 9 1/2 years massive scar tissue made it almost impossible to remove last October when I was to have the Sleeve surgery. It was so difficult to remove the port that four days later I developed a severe hematoma. Just too many dangers and isn't all that great for weight loss. I did finally get my VSG on 11/30/20.

Husband refuses to drop me off or pick me up from the hospital. Now what?

Is there a close friend or pastor you could ask? I understand what you are going through though. Praying God opens that door to your husband's heart. Health is so important.
