  1. Hopefully I am getting banded in August!! I will find out in a week.
  2. Ok, I went to my pcm this week and he sent the referral to my surgeon. I already made the appointment several weeks ago with the surgeon and was Soooo excited about going today for my 1st visit. By the end of the day I would know from insurance if they approved. Well, I was getting ready to go and I get a phone call from the office saying that I MISSED the appointment. It was at 9 am and not 11!!! I am kicking myself. Now I have to wait several more weeks to get in with him (unless someone cancels). Sorry, had to vent!

    Can't believe I did this!!

I will be calling in the morning to make sure I am called if there is a cancellation. I know I only have to wait a week, but I am anxious to get this done!
  4. Just count backwards from 10
  5. AND...all of my decisions that I stated were personal and how it impacts me...I didn't say anything to try to make you feel like your were an idiot to be a democrat, or that you were killing your children by sending them over there.
  6. I think I will keep quiet on that note...since my 19 year old is getting ready to go over there. It was his choice, no gun to his head, and we are supporting his decision 100%. Just like it was my husband's choice to sign on longer after the war started, just like it was my daughter's decision to join 2 years ago.

    Coldstone Creamery

You know that ice cream is considered a liquid.
  8. Let's see, My husband was in Somolia (and in the book "Blackhawk Down")...and got screwed by a Democratic President. My husband was also in Iraq and Afghanistan numerous times and we believe that we had every right to be there. There are things that the American public doesn't get to hear. Also, we own a gunsmithing business now that he is retired. My stepson is in the Army and my daughter is in the National guard. I am a nurse, and I see a GREAT deal of abuse in the system. I don't like taxes. So, needless to say, I am a republican.

    I'll go first

Hi! I am Jamie. I am a CCU Nurse in Nashville, TN. My husband just retired after 28 years . He was an Army blackhawk pilot (Ft. Campbell), and retirement did not come soon enough (we are battling severe PTSD) I am hoping to get banded in August.

    Tri-Care

I have Tricare prime and my appointment with the surgeon is in one week. I am on the borderline of getting approved (the 100 lb overweight thing...I have the comorbidities). I have heard nothing but good things about Tricare and how fast they are.

    Tricare Prime has denied me

It is important that your surgeon knows what your insurance is looking for and how to word it. Some offices have never dealt with tricare before. Call tricare Monday morning and find out why you were denied. Then you can go from there. Let me know what you find out, as I am trying to get approved also.

    Hello from Nashville!

My surgeon is Dr. Steely in Clarksville. I know several people that have gone to him and they really like him. My pulmonologist is at Centennial (you may have to have a sleep study done). I just joined this board about a month ago and I am addicted! I have learned so much. Everyone is very friendly, helpful and inspiring. 6 months gives you plenty of time to get everything done. Go ahead and start a Dr's supervised diet. Keep records of EVERYTHING! This will help with insurance approval. And ask questions...there is no such thing as a "stupid question". Good luck on your journey!

    Hello from Nashville!

Welcome! I work in Nashville, but live in Clarksville. Have you looked at surgeons?
  16. Army wife here. Husband just retired after 28 years Army Special Ops. Would love to join!
  17. Ok, does tricare require the psy eval, or is that a surgeon thing? My surgeon's office says that the doc doesn't require it but they "believe" tricare does. It is taking me awhile to get an appointment with the psy doc.

    Tricare Prime has denied me

I have tricare north and am hoping to get approved. So far they have approved the 7 surgeon's visits. My bmi is at 36 and I have 2 comorbidities (hypertension and sleep apnea on cpap). I would definitely call tricare to see why you were not approved. I do know that every Tricare handbook I have read states the 100 lb overweight or 200% thing. No mention of BMI. But I have heard of some people being a little under the 100 lb overweight limit and still getting approved. Good luck and let us know what is going on!
  19. Zeama, How did your surgery go? How are you feeling. Where did Dr. Steely place your port. Any advice you can give?? Thanks!! and Congrats!
  20. Which tricare do you have? Where are you stationed?

  21. I believe people under 400 lbs should not get the surgery. They should just diet and exercise. Now, lets take a poll on it. Can you see how some people are upset by this poll? (By the way, the above statement really is not my belief.)
  22. My pcm put the referral in on Monday and Today the Tricare site says the following. Does that mean my surgery has been approved?? I meet with the surgeon on Friday for the first time. Office consultation 1 unit Medical care skilled nursing office/OP visit 5 units
  23. Even though SOME united policies cover the lap band, yours may not. It may be a clause that your employer put in the contract. For instance, Humana is my primary insurance. Some people here have had Humana cover their procedures, but because my company (a hospital!) did not put it in their contract, it will not cover my procedure. You can always call back and check again. They may have changed their policy.

I am going to stab someone

    Ah, thanks, missed that
  25. I am so sorry about the loss of your little baby. We just lost our 1 year old lab when she ran out in front of a car (she NEVER went near the road before!) My husband has PTSD and got her after his return from Iraq...she was a life saver to him and she went EVERYWHERE with him. He had such a hard time after she was killed. The kids and I discussed it and MADE him go look at shelter dogs. We thought it would be best for him to get one because of his depression...we now have 2 new babies!! They will never take the place of Chloe, but at least we know that they needed him as much as he need them.
