    Olive Garden NOT accomadating!!

Oh, and also let them know that you will not be returning to their restaurant. Explain the whole lapband/small pouch thing.
  2. Obama's mother was a US citizen. But, interesting to note, Obama's dad was married and had kids in Indonesia (not sure on the country, but it was out of the US), met Obama's mom and got her pregnant...went off to school somewhere else and got someone ELSE pregnant and then went back to his wife in Indonesia. He didn't know his father very well and was raised by white family. Yet, today you wouldn't think he had an ounce of white blood in him. (I heard this discussion on talk radio yesterday, as they were discussing his book). This has nothing to do on whether or not he would be a good president, just interesting. As far as Palin's daughter, well, my 17 year old son got in trouble with school. I guess I should just quit my job as a nurse and forget that promotion I was putting in for. It is funny to hear democrats say she should stay home with her kids. Liberals are called "liberal" for a reason! Are they all listening to "Dr. Laura" now??? (They are sounding more Conservative every minute!!) (Sorry, I have been up for 36 hours and I am just rambling on....:blushing:)
  3. I am sure, since she was raised Catholic, that she is not promoting abortion, although the only thing I can find right now is that her view is if the mother's life is in danger. Obama, on the other hand supports partial birth abortions...something I cannot even fathom. I HAD a friend that used abortion as a birth control method. Had 4. Sorry, I think we need to start with more education and access to birth control measures. IMHO, Abortion should not be used as birth control.

    denied by tricare...lost all hop

Oh, I have been on blood pressure medicine for 12 years and CPAP for a year. Tricare said that I meet the requirement there..just needed 6.5 lbs. (AKA a couple of sonic cheeseburgers, mozzarella stix and a heavy sweater).
  5. Hey! Welcome! I live in Clarksville and work in Nashville. My surgeon is in clarksville. Most hospitals that provide weight loss surgery have monthly support groups. Otherwise, I use this forum as my online support group. Good luck!
  6. As a Senator, you have a couple of issues that you deal with and vote on (you can look at Obama's voting record). As a Governor, you have more authority, more responsibility, and have to make split second decisions. She is the head of the National Guard. As far as being a soccer mom, isn't that what America is supposed to be about. You see that there needs to be change, you get involved, and you get elected to public offices. I would much rather have someone that has taken that route than vote for someone that was bred to be in public office. The media and many democrats have made "UH-bama" almost "godlike". I don't want someone like that. I want a human, one that actually understand the public and has been there. As far as the post saying that just because she has a son in the Army and carries a gun...etc. Just because Obama was raised Indonesia by an atheist mother doesn't make him president material. Palin has made changes, and has turned things around in her state. She has fought big companies and won. Months ago I heard that she could be McCain's running mate...glad he picked her!

    denied by tricare...lost all hop

I reweighed, and had gained 12 lbs, meeting the requirement for Tricare ( I needed 6.5 lbs). My surgeon's office is resubmitting everything. Hopefully they will approve, since their letter stated that was what I needed to weigh. Wish me luck!
  8. I am sorry, this deal about being a woman and having a baby 4 months ago is...well, crappy. I had a baby, and then went back to work and had people's lives in my hand!!! Does that make me a bad nurse or a bad mother. Heck no! Sarah Palin is fantastic. Actually has more executive experience than Obama, Biden, or McCain. She was raised in the US, unlike Obama. I have read quite a bit about Obama, and I am STILL unclear about his background. I have met Obama and shook his hand...and I was not impressed. She is so strongly pro-life from personal experience, which gives her stance on that issue actual credibility, unlike the men claiming the same or opposite stance. Whether someone is pro-life or pro-choice, that one fact HAS to give her a tremendous amount of credibility.. Can you state any specific details on any plans that Obama has on the Economy, Iraq, or healthcare. As the mother of someone in the military, she knows more about Iraq than people give her credit for (she has been over there supporting our soldiers}. It doesn't matter if she has foreign policy experience. McCain has, by far, more experience than anyone these days. She has doubled the economic revenue for Alaska in 20 months (which is aka over 144 days). She fought the corruption left behind. She has an 80% approval rating in Alaska which is unheard of in politics. She is actually decisive in the policies that she has integrated in her legislation, instead of being vague. She may not know much about Iraq, according to the media, but at least she will make a sound judgment, UNLIKE Obama...who says Iran is not a threat and states he will never use Nuclear missiles under "any circumstances". And her stance on gays...perhaps you should look it up..she supports gay rights! AND if I have to hear Obama say "UH" one more time..I will scream! Yes, the US is ready for a woman vice president. And I believe Palin is a GREAT choice!

    Tricare

I reweighed Friday and weighed 6.6 lbs OVER the magic number required by Tricare. The surgeon's office is resubmitting eveything!
  10. We like to have patients knocked out when we intubate!
  11. I fell in love with New Orleans last year. My daughter had done some volunteer work right after Katrina, and we decided to go and tour the city last summer. We were saddened that there are many places that are still affected by Katrina. The Big Easy will be in our prayers!
  12. Tell them to make sure you are out. Perhaps they did not give you enough Versed the first time or didn't give it time to get in your iv/bloodstream
  13. "If you were at my seminar though my surgeon would have asked you to leave and said you wern't qualified for surgery." Froggi God, I said I was done with this thread. Froggi, according to your later posts, she WOULD be qualified for the surgery. Your surgeon would not ask her to walk out. Get over it! Some people may not look that overweight to YOU, but they have the comorbidities that make them qualify, even for your surgeon. Ok, I really need to take this thread off of my email alerts!
  14. Nice comback! Don't you love those types of patients?!?

    Tricare drama, Queen of Denial

I started this journey by filling out a form from a local surgeon and going to an informational meeting. I have Humana insurance but there is an exclusion written by my employer for weight loss surgery. Tricare is my secondary, and their requirements are being 100 lbs overweight with a comorbidity, or being 200% over ideal weight. I knew that I was borderline with the 100 lb overweight requirement, but I jumped into it anyway. Took the test, was poked and prodded in every orifice of my body. Went to meetings and researched and read everything I could get my hands on. Once my surgeons office submitted the paperwork, I felt pretty sure that I would get approved. I was just a few pounds under. Then I get the big fat DENIAL..and the letter stating that I meet the comorbidities, but am 6.5 UNDER their requirement! So, I have eaten everything I can get my hands on! I feel bloated, greasy and FAT...so I went in today and reweighed...and weighed 6.6 lbs OVER their number! YES!! Here I go again...the waiting...the checking the Tricare site every hour. My new diet and lifestyle starts today, with or without the band. I pray that I get approved and can get banded soon. Would love to get off of blood pressure meds and off of that darn CPAP machine! Will it be just another diet, or will I get on the bandwagon? :tongue2:
  16. Palin! Palin! Palin! I was soooo excited to see McCain pick her. And the fact that her son is going to Iraq on Sept 11th! I am impressed!

    Tricare

I am re-weighing today. My surgeons office will then contact tricare and see if the info needs to be resubmitted or if I need to appeal the denial. I am 6.5 lbs heavier, as Tricare said I needed to be. Wish me luck!

    26 and facing a hysterectomy..please help

There are also cardiovascular risks that you need to discuss with your doctor. You need to be aware of ALL of the risks with a hysterectomy. I am not saying NOT to have it done. I just like for all of my patients to be aware of all of the risks and benefits of a surgery and then they can make the best educated decision the is right for the individual. My doctor and I discussed it when I was 30 and we thought that it would be best to wait as long as I could. I continued to get ultrasounds every few months for 10 years until I finally said "enough is enough". Like I said, I have never felt better sinice I had everything removed.
  21. Well, Joy's bmi is 36.2 and she has comorbidities. I am around the same BMI and have several comorbidities too. My surgeon, my family doctor, my obgyn, my psy doc, and my pulmonologist all think I am a great candidate for lapband surgery. I am thankful I did not walk into Froggi's surgeon's office. I am done with this thread.
  22. Why would your surgeon do that! Her BMI is over 35 and she has comorbidities. Most insurance companies will even cover that!

    26 and facing a hysterectomy..please help

I was 40 years old with severe endometriosis, multiple large ovarian cysts, history of ovarian tumor, painful heavy periods, and a history of miscarriages when I had my total abdominal hysterectomy. I can say that I have never felt better. The endometriosis was growing on my kidneys and causing infections. You are so young that you and your doctor should look into all of the alternatives before making that decision. But I was your age when I started having problems. I took off for 6 weeks and I am on an estrogen patch (vivelle dot). Like I said, I have never felt better in my life (although I am fatter). Good luck!
  24. I think what is upsetting people is the tone of the survey, instead of a simple discussion. The choices "No, it's a waste of money and not worth it", and "No freaking way!!! Just eat a little less dangit!!!" and the fact that as of this time, 24 people have chosen these answers. It makes those of use that have lower BMI's feel as though we need to defend ourselves, and those that are voting that we "don't need it" are being judgmental. We Low BMIers often have to defend ourselves to skinny family and friends that think we should just get off of our A$$es and work out. We shouldn't have to defend ourselves or be judged by our fellow bandsters.
