Hi I was just banded 3 days ago and have been upset ever since, feeling that I've done something awful to myself - did anyone else have serious doubts AFTER surgery - will I ever feel normal again? My back is painful, I'm bloated and I havn't slept hardly at all for 2 nights, the stitched areas are painless and healing well but the port area is just so sore that I am still in a great deal of pain and others seem to be fine after only 48 hrs. Is this normal, did anyone else have pain and doubt but a happy ending? I feel that i discuss it much with my family as they were so agaqinst the band in the first place.:cry :help:

I have had this pain since my last fill - but it is much worse when I sit down and eases when I lay flat. Mine is not gallstones as I have had my gallbladder out 2 years ago. In also have new stomach pain around my navel - all since my last fill - I am going to get unfilled - I will let you know if it eases.Tidge.

Congratulations. I have had my band for 9 months with no problems, until... I fell pregnant, I am now 9 weeks pregnant and have a constant stomach pain around my navel, can't eat any solids - it doesn't get restricted but I have pain in the stomach - wondering if it is pregnancy or band erosion - anyone got any idea's? Tidge

is the pain at the band entrance ie: in your chest area of restriction or is it in your stomach/navel area?
-
I also had this - it lasted about a week. I remember others having it at the time, as long as it's no more than a week I wouldn't worry - keep drinking lots of water.Tidge.

I had a fill and when I drank some water it sat in my chest for a moment and then trickled down - the surgeon said that this was too much and he removed some of the fill and now I feel under-filled with little restriction. My friend lost all of her weight by being very filled and had the feelings of a trickle that I described. Are you feeling filled at the correct level - if so how much can you eat and drink and how does it feel? I can still eat a whole burger if I eat it slowly - that can't be right, can it? Your oppinions/experiences appreciated. TIDGE

mini me I replied to your post in the very early days with few facts given, my response was sincere and based on that. We all have complex reasons and issues guiding our concepts and viewpoints. I hope you all find peace and that the decision that is best for the child is reached soon. Tidge.

Pain is near to hip - defo band related - any idea's?
TIDGE posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi I am almost 3 wks post band and from day 2 I have been getting a really sharp pain down near my hip - but what is down there? It's about an inch up from my hip bone and about 2 inches inward - does anyone have any experience of this? Tidge. -
The social services should be involved in this and with the proper support the mother could be helped with housing and her possible addictions. Parenting classes and support are available and I feel that the SS would rather help the child and mother to be together. Adoption is always a last resort and cannot be dealt with casually. They need social services professional help and the earlier you all seek help, the better for this baby. If mum can be cleaned up and housed and taught to care for and bond for her child, that is the best scenario. Perhaps yr cousins are not thinking of babies best interests but their own? Good luck . Pain is near to hip - defo band related - any idea's?

Well I spoke to my surgeon who said that he had never had anyone complain of such pains before and suggested that I go my practitioner. I went to the family doctor and she said that it was band-related and I ought to seek advice from the surgeon. I aggree that it is definately band-related but the surgeon knew nothin of it. Both suggested painkillers - I will just have to hope that it is gas and that it goes!!! -
I didn't have a catheder, the nurse said that as long as I got up and pee'd within 8hrs post op I wouldn't need one. I've had one for other op's - it's okay, a bit uncomfortable to have pulled out but only for a few seconds - you'll be fine either way.Regatds, Tidge.

Pain is near to hip - defo band related - any idea's?

Thanks for taking the time to try & help. That is EXACTLY where the pain is but I cant find a fist or knot when I feel there. If I have to walk with it, it does feel a little better if I push hard with my fingers into the pain area as I walk. Bowell movements small but daily! Owch. Do you think a laxative would help? I don't know what a chiroprator is/does but if it will help - I'll go to one! -

Did you get it treateed Leena or did it just go. How do you know it was wind? Tidge. -
I just had to say how fantastic Carlene looks for 56! I would have guessed 38 - 45yrs. You look wonderful!
-
Never mind the jeans - make sure you buy some pretty knickers!
-
Just explain that you didn't want to say anything in case it didn't work for you. I'm sure it will be fine.

Hello I had exactly the same - I was banded 3 wks ago. I went to the doctor and she prescibed a daily tablet that disolves on the tongue called Zoton Fastab - it's generic name is Lansoprazole. This tab reduces the acid in your tummy. Also I was given 15mls 3 times a day of a suspension called Mebeverine to dispense the wind. The pain is gone - it was VERY bad and now it's completely gone so please go to your GP - I have other pain (hip) but that gassy belly is gone. These are British medicines but I'm sure the generic name would be the same in the states. Good luck Tidge.

Sounds like low blood sugar to me too - I used to get this A LOT along with a hot sweat, and trembles. Hot sweet tea and a 10 min lie down will sort it out.

Hi Hope It's in the front and is much worse when I move around - it gets worse throughout the day and is very sharp. It's making me a bit miserable actually cos all the other peeps banded in may seem to be pain free and out dancing! I'm generally quite sore every day but that pain is the most intense. Yours does seem very similar - I'd like to hear what your doc says - my surgeon will be away until 5th june and I don't think my GP will be much help! Do let me know if you find out a way to deal with it! Regards, Tidge. -
I agree 23 lbs is great - you should be delighted! I have been banded for 3weeks and have lost 8lbs so far - I am very happy with that. I know the rest will follow and that 1-2lbs a week is healthy and will help for my skin to adjust so hopefully less loose skin when I reach my target. Well done and carry on!

Well I did it I joined Weight watchers last night.

Best of luck - you know you can keep it off! Keep focused and you will be so proud when you lose that 20lbs through sheer will-power and good habits. I really hope it goes well. -
