I just got my first fill yesterday, I was banded on 4/23/2008. They only filled me to 4 cc's and I am still not feeling any restriction. I keep reading people say that I shouldn't feel restriction or see weight loss until my second fill. That is not until July 21, 2008. My doc said to come back in if I don't feel restriction but is it just me or do they need to make it tighter? My mom said something to me that I have to keep reminding my self of " It didn't take you over night to get this big, it's not going to take you over night to get skinny." But I want to be skinny NOW! Does anyone else feel like it's taking too long? I've lost 17 lbs and I know more is to come, but I just need to know when I'll start to see a dramatic difference?? Thanks:confused2:

Are Fills Painful?
sdgirl25 replied to greyhoundmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Uhm...mine hurt. I just got filled two days ago and it was not fun. I have a realize band which has a large port but can be hard to find. They told me from the begining that they would try but they may have to do it under floro. I had a 1 1/2 wait in the doc office and I wasn't leaving there without a fill!!! One doc tried with me laying down and it was the worst experience of my life!!! He could not find the port and was pulling the needle almost all the way out and then back in. A few times he thought he was in the port and started to push the saline in but realized he wasn't and pulled the syringe back and I got to see my blood pull into left over saline! Then he would miss the port all together or he would hit the plastic around the port and I could hear this horrible scrapping sound. He ended up getting my actual surgeon and he had me stand against a wall and did it his first try...boy do I know who is going to do my fills from now on. I'm not trying to scare people but everyone else said their fills were all rainbows and butterflies...mine sucked...just want people to know that it's not all sunshine I hope it isn't bad for any one else -
When will I get skinny?

All of these posts have helped me so much! It's nice to know I'm not the only person who is going through this! -
I was banded 7 weeks ago. 3 weeks after surgery I found out I was pregnant. It was my first pregnancy. I went to get my first fill a week later and the Doctor refused to do it, he said he couldn't induce weight loss during pregnancy. When I weighed in that day I had gained 10 lbs back from my first post-op appointment. I credited that to the pregnancy and the fact that I had little restriction right after surgery. Being pregnant, I was starving all the time (it could have been that I'm overweight and love to eat too), and I was too tired to do any exercise. A week after that appointment I ended up having a miscarriage and am waited for an appointment for my first filling. My concern is that I haven't lost the weight that I felt that I was supposed to this far after surgery. I'm working on trying to get back to my post-op weight but it's much harder than I expected. I know that I had a special situation but I feel no restriction at all and I'm almost back to my old eating habits. Does this mean that I have stretched my pouch or made my band slip? How will I know if my band slipped? Will I see the expected weight loss once I get my first fill? HELP!! I'm so nervous that I have ruined everything I've worked so hard to get.
