Food Stuck in Throat
Brockbabe82 replied to Dominic's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You sound like you will be okay. I guess if that occurs again in the next couple of days I would call the doctor. Remember you are healing and there is a lot of pressure. Hope your feeling better. -
There are a great deal of insurance companies that approve and pay for this surgery. Some require a 6 month supervised diet before hand but that is a small price to pay to say $20,000. Call your insurance company, call some bariatric surgeons in your area and see if they have a seminar you can attend. From there they should aid you in the correct steps towards your goal of surgery. good luck.

psych guy might delay my surgery!!!!
Brockbabe82 replied to kteggers's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too had my psych guy tell me that I am depressed and need to address it before surgery. I was so upset but I realized I needed to be proactive about my own health and I told him exactly how I felt. My brother was killed in Sept 2007, and he was my best friend. I told the doc that anyone in their right mind would be upset and if he could not understand that then I want my file and I will go else where. He met with me one more time and then approved me. I actually continued to see him to deal with my emotional issues. Every single one of us have negative feelings towards our weight, and the way our "lifes" are going (being overweight in a thin world), you think they would understand that since we are interested in the lap band. Call your doctor and see if he wants you to lose a certain amount and go from there. All I can say is stand up for yourself, and do your best. Good luck and keep us posted. -
I am sorry this experience happened to you. One of my jobs is a waitress and I am told to never ask questions, just do as the customer wants. The waiter and manager were extremely rude, and you should definitely call the customer service line or call the general manager of the restaurant. Good luck.

Hey hun, I was just banded on Nov 14 and school was one of my biggest worries. I intended on going back to school on a monday when my surgery was on a friday, but it was too much. I was lucky to be able to take a couple of days off but going back I really had to take it slow. Make sure you give yourself the time you need and let your professors know ahead of time , just in case you need to get up and move, or get a drink. I hope everything goes well.

Sweling after surgery!!!
Brockbabe82 replied to kendallsmeme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on November 14 and I am still swollen mostly at the port site. Everyday it goes down a bit more. Good luck to all of you. -
I have too been overweight for a really long time. When I was 17 I began a program that was the beginning steps to be approved for wls. After going through the steps they told me I was too young for the surgery. I was devastated. After that I tried countless diets where I would lose some and gain it back. I finally had enough and I went to a different doctor and began my process in June, and was banded on November 14. I am also 20. There are many doctors out there who band people who are 18 and older, and I know there are some who do it younger. I don't think age is as important as the maturity level. You need to be completely open to a full life change. Good luck.

I was banded on November 14. Dr. Haag is a really nice guy. I still feel sore but I am hoping that will pass in the next couple of days.

Hello, I'm 20 as well, and was banded on November 14th. This community is great if for any age , so I am sure you will find many of us in their 20's. Good luck on your research.

I know exactly where you coming from. I too have about 250llbs to lose. It seems really overwhelming so i have decided to break it down into intervals of 50. If I think about it that way it makes it a little less stressful. It's scary when you really don't have anyone in your family life that can relate. This place has become so important to me because of the support. Good luck hun and keep in touch.

What's a good way to meet a guy? Do guys actually like bigger girls?
Brockbabe82 replied to Amethystjade's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have had a weight problem most of my life. As I reached my teen years I become more aware of my weight problem. With this I felt less and less confident and eventually I gave up hope of ever finding "someone." I went through my phases of crushes and people you talk to and when I was 16 I started dating someone who was 20. He was gorgeous and confident, 150 lbs, but I never really liked him as more than a friend. I think I was so scared that I was missing out on something I would never have the option to have again. I knew all along it was not right but I dated him for 2 years anyway. Throughout our relationship he put me down, told me how I wasn't good enough for him, and why don't I just go on a diet.( I think I have been on a diet since I was 10...lol) I finally got so sick of it I broke up with him only to find that he was cheating on me the whole time. Later that year I met a guy at work and we became best friends. I was so in love with him but was afraid to initiate a relationship because of what I had already gone through. He eventually ended up asking me out and we have been together ever since. He is everything I could ever ask for, and he supports me 100%. He is not a "big" guy, and he is very athletic. I always tell myself that there are good people out there who are accepting and can love someone no matter what. Hold your head high hunny, and remember that you are worth finding someone who is going to treat you like you deserve. Again like it was said before , I have looked at you pictures and you have nothing to worry about. You are a beautiful girl.:grouphug: -
I also was prescribed pills. The doctor said that pills are fine as long as they are smaller then an m&m. If I were you I would try and if they do not go down well I would call the doctors office. Good luck everyone

In May 2008 I developed swelling in my legs and feet, ( not lymphedema) with no real reason for it. After going to the doctor I was diagnosed with glomerulonephritis. Glomerulonephritis is typically caused by an infection in the body such as a virus. I am on an ace inhibitor, and a Water pill in order to help my kidneys secrete Protein and decrease some of the Fluid build up in my limbs. Mine has gotten better over the last couple of months and the nephrologist claims that with significant weight loss this condition will work it self out of my body. My question is there anyone else on here that has gone through this or still experiencing it, and has weight loss helped them with the symptoms? Any info will be greatly appreciated.
