What do YOU do when you get "stuck?"
Brockbabe82 replied to givempills's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wish!!! lol I try really hard not to vomit often, not gunna lie and say it doesn't happen. As far as the discomfort, I have had ones that last for a minute and some that last for hours and hours. I try stretching, laying on the floor, having someone rub my back really hard, coughing, anything really. lol Usually when I get stuck I don't try to eat again for a while just because I'm afraid of being sick. I'm glad yours passes quickly. -
keep up the great work!

I think a lot of people go through this after surgery. For a good month I had to push myself along. Make sure you are taking your vitamins and getting enough of the right foods, but if this doesnt subside call you doc. Good luck to you!

Up in the air!
Brockbabe82 replied to NurseMichael's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Getting banded was the best thing I ever did. I have been banded since 11/14/08 and I have lost 120lbs. This has saved my life, seriously. ALthough every day is a challenge and eating these days is exhausting. Every morsal of has to be thought about, and lets just say that stuck feeling is HORRIBLE. You learn to work with the band, and thats most important to know. This is not a quick fix this is something that you will have to do your part or you wont be successful. I am happier and healthier then I have ever been and I can't wait to see what the future will bring. Good luck to you! -
Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor Banded 3/5/10 Looking for a buddy
Brockbabe82 replied to brodie63's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well first off congrats on the start of a happier and healthier you. Secondly this period from surgery to first fill is called bandster hell. It is called this because most people can still eat a lot, and they have problems with self control. The first thing to do is to stop weighing yourself everyday, stick to once a week. You can also clear your house of any foods that do not meet the healthy criteria. Try eating as if you have had a fill already ( small bites, about 4 oz of food ). Everytime you feel like eating something bad , take a walk around the block, you'll be amazed at how that will help you. There are so many of us that go through the same thing you can always find someon going through the same dilema. I just tell myself that nothing tastes as good as losing weight feels. Hang in there! -
BIG Embarassing Moments - Fuel for Success
Brockbabe82 replied to Mamadot's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sorry so many have had to deal with situations like this. My heart breaks for everyone who shared their story. I too have had some significantly embarrasing moments including; 1. Working as a waitress, I was training a new person, we both went up to a table of a father and son, as soon as I got to the table the kid yells out, dad she is huge! I was mortified especially since the person I was training laughed! 2. Another customer had come in and I was taking her order, as I walked away I heard her say what a waste, I turned and asked her what she said, and she replied with what a waste of a pretty face on such a fat girl. She then proceeded to ask me if I could liposuction, and how I never will find a man who can stand to look at such a fat girl. I then pointed to my bf who had happened to be there at the same time, and told her we have been together for 4 years. She then leaned over and whispered is he legally blind or something.... It took everything in me to walk that off I have also experienced the breaking of chairs, or not being able to fit into them, etc. All of these things will make us tougher and better able to handle anything. I wish everyone luck on their journeys! -
Congrats on the start of a happier and healthier you! Please keep us posted!

Need some encouragment
Brockbabe82 replied to Whillow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey hun, Number one you sound like you are doing great. Secondly your body an fluctuate up to 7 pounds a day, due to the water in your body so no worries on that. I know for me it helps making smaller goals, but not basing everything on those numbers. I make like 2-4 pounds goals that way 10 doesn't seem so out of reach. The scale is just a number, base your success on how good you feel, how much better your clothes fit, but dont worry so much about all the other stuff. Go on your trip regardless of the number on the scale, u never know if the relaxation can jump start your weight loss, and those 10 pounds melt off. Good luck hun. -
I would wait and see. I mean if you are able to swallow without pain, and can keep liquids down, the you are probably okay. Are you on any sort of "phase diet" after your fill, like liquids for 2 days, mushies for the next 2, then soft foods, then solids. I would definitely wait and see but if any pain, and such occurs I would see ur doc. Good luck
