Dr. Bruce Schirmer - Glad I did it!
Brockbabe82 replied to tyme4change's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Congrats on a happier and healthier lifestyle. -
Everyone goes through fear right before surgery. It is important that you dont let that fear grab ahold of you. Think of all the exciting things upcoming for you, happy, healthier, new lifestyle, new clothes. There are cons for everything but for me the cons of staying overweight are far larger then those that come with the surgery.

How do you keep your loose skin under control when exercising?
Brockbabe82 replied to pizzicato66's topic in Fitness & Exercise
You could always try spanx on under your gym clothes. Oherwise I would say spandex gym wear. -

Just an update on my progress
Brockbabe82 replied to littlefroggy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
my only advice is do NOT give up! Keep working hard, try to get back on using the tools of the band, no eating and drinking, small meals, etc. Focus your attention on exercise, taking small walks, or just moving in general. Goosd luck to you and stay positive. -

Brockbabe82 replied to lindsayb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
omg ! How are you feeling, are you having difficulties because of this. A lung collapsing is a serious thing, I do not think that it is normal for that to happen. I hope your recovery goes well. keep your head up. -
Questions I should ask my Surgeon today?
Brockbabe82 replied to katie35's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would ask what to bring to the hospital, how long the procedure would take, staying over at the hospital?, post op diet guidlines, when will the followup appt be, will he give you your prescriptions ahead of time. I hope everything goes well today, good luck, and congrats on the start of your journey. -
Congrats on hitting onederland!!!! As far as the fill goes I would not get anymore added, it sounds as if you probably have a little too much. Good luck to you!

Sugguestions for the grocery store
Brockbabe82 replied to notarychristine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Probably similar things to when you were on a mushie phase. My surgeon makes you do 2 days liquid, 2 days mushies, 2 days soft proteins, and then normal foods. -
good luck to you and congrats

keep your head up! Can you finance yourself? Resend it to the insurance company with more documentation. Just use this discouragement to find a way to do this.

congrats and keep up the great work!

Should I gain weight?!?!?
Brockbabe82 replied to david6789's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Whatever you do don't gain that weight. With that 20 pounds could come those other problems. Try and work with the insurance company, get your docs to send them how your weight affects your health, etc. If all else do self pay. Paying for it is worth far more then having to lose those 20 pounds. Just my opinion, but good luck on your journey. -
Losing weight and my partner..... :(
Brockbabe82 replied to Bigjedda's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm sorry, not a nice feeling I know. Sending you positive vibes. -
You look awesome! Keep up the good work!

Lap band patients do not have dumping like bypass patients do, however sugar free, and no sugar added products are healthier for you.

Losing weight and my partner..... :(
Brockbabe82 replied to Bigjedda's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congrats on the awesome weight loss. As far as your partner leaving you, I am sorry. Sometimes people cant handle change and instead of dealing they run from it. I dont mean you are changing, but maybe the change in your lifestyle. Use your sadness and anger and focus it on working out or meeting new people. Stay busy, and focused, whats meant to be will find its way. Keep your head up. -
Here are a couple of questions you should ask: Are you eating the right things? How much are you eating? Are much are you exercising? Are you getting your water and protein in? Are you eating slow and not drinking at the same time? If you are doing all of these things then you need to see your surgeon or a nutritionist to see what is going on. I hope things get better for you, but in my eyes you sound like you are doing good. Keep your head up and stay positive.

When do you eat your last meal?
Brockbabe82 replied to hollisterblondie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had to do a preop diet beofre surgery, and my surgeon was very strict, If I was 2 ounces over the weight I was in the office a couple of days before surgery, he would cancel it. So my last "bad food meal" never really existed. I enjoy thios though . Nothing tastes as good as getting skinny feels. -
