How many more fills until I feel the fullness again
Brockbabe82 replied to Allformyson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It typically takes several fills until you reach your sweet spot. One thing you should remember is when you have a fill your stomach sells which could lead to a greater amount of restriction. When the swelling goes down your restriction will become less. Just think of it this way at least you have the option of getting another fill and adjusting it to your needs. Keep your head up and good luck! -
Reaching "restriction" ...
Brockbabe82 replied to jayteemom's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Proper adjustment of the lap band is very important to weight loss and the long term success of the procedure. Reaching restriction means you have reached a right amount of fill to only be able to eat 4 oz at a time. It is different with each person and requires a different amount of fill for each person. It is also referred to as reaching your sweet spot. When reaching your sweet spot typically your weight loss speeds up! Good luck -
Congrats on admitting what difficulties you are having. It takes a lot to do that, but your heading in the right direction. I'm sending you positive vibes and wishing you good luck!

Congrats on your date and good luck! -
I'm sorry things are rough right now. At least you are focusing on something productive and using your energy to get back on the band wagon. Like it was said before you have a whole family here, and we are here to support you! Good luck and keep your head up!

I know it is tough but stay strong girl! Your children are going to value you 100% more because you shoed them that you are a strong willed and independent person. It will be much better for your own sanity and your children if you are in a stable, healthy environment, rather then an abusive one. You stay strong hunny, and remember you have a family of people who support you here!

Depressed! Only lost 8 lbs so far
Brockbabe82 replied to volleymom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
8 pounds is wonderful and nothing you shouldn't be proud of! The period between banding and first fill is very difficult, probably why they call it bandster hell.lol . Some people even gain during this period. Give your body a chance to heal, and get a fill, and things should start moving in the right direction. Until then relax and keep doing what your doing. Good luck and keep your head up! -
Awesome way to look at things! Keep up the positive attitude, and it looks as if you are very lucky to have such encouraging friends.

I'm sorry you are going through a tough time. I am sure they just want to make sure you are healthy for surgery, they don't want any further complications. I actually have been banded but then had low potassium. I have a kidney disorder that causes a slight edema in my legs, I was perscribed a Water pill. With the water pill and the new diet my potassium and Vitamin d went way low. I was perscribed a vitamin for both and told to eat things with a lot of potassium . Here are a few foods that are high in potassium, hope this helps, and good luck! All meats, poultry and fish are high in potassium. Apricots (fresh more so than canned) Avocado Banana Cantaloupe Honeydew Kiwi Lima Beans Milk Oranges and orange juice Potatoes (can be reduced to moderate by soaking peeled, sliced potatoes overnight before cooking) Prunes Spinach Tomatoes Vegetable juice Winter squash

Sorry this happened! All I can say is it is just a little bump in the road, and sooner then later you will be in band land. Use the extra time to prepare with post op products, venture around this site, and relax a little. Good luck to you!

Reassurance needed/or reality check!
Brockbabe82 replied to patricksmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think you should take it easy. It wont hurt you to move around but just be careful in how much you are moving. I think it will help your recovery if you are up and trying to do normal things but be careful about lifting and bending, not so much for a slip but for incision reasons. Consult with your doc though just to be on the safe side. Good luck to you! -
Mourning the loss of a friend
Brockbabe82 replied to june09bandit's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
After my surgery I went through a bit of a mourning period. I was mourning the loss of food because food was my friend. Food helped me feel better when I was lonely and it gave me something to look forward to, something to do with my time. Now, I don’t obsess over food. I don’t count the hours until my next meal, or think of what I can eat. Instead, I think about what is going to give me the energy I need to live a fuller life. I used to live to eat, now I eat to live, way big difference. I think to idenitfy this is such a big advacement in the right direction. I can only hope with more time and focus, I succeed in my obesity being a thing of the past. Congrats to you and good luck on your journey. -
Welcome to LBT, and good luck with your journey!

Just needing a little reassurance...
Brockbabe82 replied to sweetbean70's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Relax! You are sounding like you are doing everything the right way, so just continue to do it that way. If you keep worrying the only thing you are going to do is hinder your progress, so relax, and enjoy the start of your happier and healthier life! -
