Bi polar meds
cyndeelouwho replied to cyndeelouwho's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have been on geodon for years and it's the only bi polar drug I have been able to tolerate that actually worked. I'm allergic to many medications and laudable is one of those. I'm scared of myself if I'm not on them. BTW I'm already on Wellbutrin. I'm on drugs for osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, sleep medications. I have PTSD and mood swings and severe nightmares. So I'm not sure if I'll qualify for this surgery. Anyone else have some or all of these things? My consultation with the doctor is Jan. 4 2021. I'll let you all know then. This group has helped me a lot. I appreciate all of the information and advice. I'm sure there are many people who feel this way. Merry Christmas to all and I hope this doesn't offend anyone -
Sleeve vs Bypass
cyndeelouwho replied to Hopefulin2021's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for all of your help with I think I will ask my doctor what he thinks about a MGB. I don't know if that is going to be an option or not. I had a gastric bypass surgery in 1980 and gained all of my weight back. My consultation with surgeon on 1/4/21. Wish me luck 🙏 😅 -

I have a husband who doesn't seem interested but I know he's probably just scared for me. I'm older than most of you and have health issues that might be worried. I'm 69 and have a bmi of 36 but heck i want a better quality of life than the one I have now. I'm scared to but I know if I don't do it now I'll probably never do it. Thank you for all the things that is being said it's very encouraging and helpful, God bless you all with your journey -

I previously had a gastric bypass surgery in 1980 but considering a gastric sleeve any thoughts on this? -
Hi I'd like to introduce myself I'm cyndeelouwho from Nebraska. I had bypass surgery during 1980 in the initial start up stage and not much was known about it. I was 220 or 230 and 5'1. In a years time I lost 120 lbs and I felt great. But not at first it wasn't fun at all. I really didn't know what to do but, I know most of the time I was sick and puking not to mention constipated. I'd say about three or four months out I started to understand what was happening to my body. I kept the weight off maintaining 115 weight. But after my marriage failed and then made bad choices in my life I gained it all back. Now I'm 69 years old and have a BMI of 36. If I don't do anything now my quality of life will only be bad. When I look at a mirror I see a hippo or a Rhino. I have to do something now. Has anyone out there heard of a person who has had a bypass surgery and their stomach stretched out and is thinking about having another, do they even do that? I'm sorry but I can't talk to anyone else please let me know what you think.

I am just going to have my consultation on 1/4/21. I had gastric bypass surgery in 1980 when I was 30 years old. I had tremendous success and lost 130 lbs in about a year. I kept it off for about 12 years but gained it all back. I have a 36 bmi and I'm 69. I can't live like this anymore, health wise and mentally. I have low or negative self worth. To me when I look at myself I see a hippo or rhino. Gross, hey yea I think so too. My staples are still on my stomach that's really stretched out did anyone else have bariactic surgery and then have it again? Please advise me as I was going to ask the doctor about that.
