Rdy4ANewLife replied to JenniLeen's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I was just banded by Dr. Monash on March 16th, 2009!!! I absolutely love him!! He is so caring and truly knows what he is doing!! He did sooooo good on my surgery! -
Hey, sorry I'm just now getting back to you. I'm doing this from my phone and it's a little different. I didn't even notice I had messages on my profile. LOL. Guess I need to check that more often! =P
I had my surgery March 16th, so I'm on my 4th day post op. How are you doing so far? It is so nice to finally conversate with a local!!

I'm currently laying in the hospital bed. I had my surgery at 12 noon today. My port site is definitely sore but it's tolerable. I haven't had any pain meds since thismorning. I've already went walking today too. I went 4 Times up and down the long hallway here. I don't have any gas pain *So Far*. My surgery took 40 minutes. When I first arrived, I had a low grade fever and they thought I might of had a urinary tract infection. So they sent it to the lab and it came back negative. Needless to say, I did end up Crying cuz there for a few minutes I thought I wasn't going to get the surgery that I've been waiting forever for! I'm not having any problems swallowing ice chips and drinking water. Luckily I got a private room. =D It does hurt to get out of bed but luckily it only hurts for a split second! Whew! =P I wish all of the rest of the "Lucky Losers" having their surgery this month a successful pain free journey!! You can do this!! I'm glad I did!! =) Woot!! Let's go LUCKY LOSERS!!!!!!!

I'm spending the weekend wearing a hospital band!! It's so annoying! I went in on Friday for all my Pre op testing and they told me to wear it til Monday and not to get it wet. Hubby has been teasing me all weekend so far, saying that I'm on leave from the looney bin and he has to take me back soon. Lmao! But yeah, I've stocked my pantry and fridge with the necessarys. Got all my laundry done and stuff. Basically, we have been staying away from the house to keep busy and keep my mind off of it. Good luck to you all and may you have a blessed speedy recovery!! =)

Oh boy! I'm so looking forward to my surgery now this coming Monday!!!!!(March 16th) NOT!!!! Lmao!!

Getting The Lapband Done With Tricareprime
Rdy4ANewLife replied to kaitlynmarie93's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello, my husband is Active Duty Air Force, so we have Tricare Prime. I went to my PCP and she sent a referral to a surgeon and all that was required for me was a Psych Eval. I didn't have to do a 6 month diet or anything. They filed everything with Tricare and I was approved 2 days later. My surgery is March 16th. =D Good luck to you and God Bless! -
WooHoo! Mine is on March 16th too!! It's so awesome to finally find some others on here with the same date! =D My Surgery is with Dr. Monash in Tucson, Az. I am so ready to do this and at the same time, I'm nervous as heck! Which is natural I guess. I'm not on a Pre Op Diet cuz my doc doesn't believe in having to do that. However, I took it upon myself to cut down on my food, just to be safe. I wish you all the best of luck and maybe all of us who are having surgery on the 16th can compare our outcomes together! It could be fun and motivating! =) God Bless!!

Calling All MARCH '09 Bandsters - We need a name!
Rdy4ANewLife replied to gabi311b's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon told me to avoid Ensure, Boost, and Slim Fast Products because they are very high in sugar content. So I haven't had a Slim Fast in awhile now. -
"Lucky Losers" (March 2009 banders)
Rdy4ANewLife replied to KarenInOhio's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey! I am from Oklahoma but currently residing in Tucson, Az due to my hubby being stationed here. He serves in the Air Force. My surgery is March 16th. I'm not on a preop diet because my Doc said he didn't believe in having to do that. However, I have cut my food intake WAY down just to be on the safe side. I am sooo ready to begin my new life!! Good luck to all of the Lucky Losers!!!! -
Where all have you been stationed?
Rdy4ANewLife replied to armywife4life's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My hubby is in the Air Force........ We have been stationed in: Sheppard AFB(Wichita Falls, Texas) Robins AFB(Warner Robins, Georgia) Davis Monthan AFB(Tucson, Arizona) All of these have been within the last 2 and a half years. So lots of moving! We never could get settled in. LOL. I think we are finally somewhere that I think we will stay until he gets out next year. We both decided we wanted out cuz were ready to go back home to Oklahoma. We just don't feel stable with all this moving. So far, Tucson has been the best one. We really miss Robins AFB though. They seemed to be soooooo family oriented. They were always having BBQ's and inviting all the families! I loved it. It helped me make new friends too! I think the main reason I like Tucson best is because it is beautiful here and I got loads of stores right at my finger tips. I'm not use to that at all. I come from a town of 6,000 back in OK. So this was a huge step for me to move where there is over 550,000 people here. -
My Pcm on base referred me to a surgeon with no problem. The only thing Tricare required from me was a Psych Eval. I got that done and was approved within 2 days. My surgery is March 16th. I am with Tricare West aka Triwest. My insurance does require me to stay overnight since I am in the state of Arizona. I wish you the best of luck with your journey Hun!! God Bless!!

Tri-care and breast reduction
Rdy4ANewLife replied to BroncosGalAndrea's topic in Insurance & Financing
My doctor told me they would because mine are causing major back problems, but we decided to wait until I get the band to see how much weight I may lose in the boobs. I don't think they would pay for it if someone is just wanting it done, so to speak, but if they are causing you problems, I almost bet you get it paid for. -

Rdy4ANewLife replied to Band_Groupie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah Im staying overnight and I'm not even taking a quarter of that list. LOL. And besides, alot of that stuff you can get from the hospital(shampoo, toothbrush, etc.....) to get by for that ONE night. I'm not lugging all that around when I'm just going for one night and will be sleeping and sore. BUT, just my .02. Good luck with your Journey and God Bless!! -

1.) Go to the park with my baby boy and actually PLAY and run with him without getting winded and telling him every 5 to 10 minutes "mama has to go take a break now" 2.) Go on a rollercoaster with my hubby! 3.) Be an inspiration to my overweight mother whom I love dearly. 3.) Take a run and NOT a jog! 3.) -

Tricare Prime and Lap Band
Rdy4ANewLife replied to connie45331's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm Tricare Prime as well and all that they required for me was a Psych Eval. The process has been pretty smooth for me so far! After my psych eval, the doc sent everything into Tricare for approval and I was approved 2 days later! Approved: January 20th, 2009
