How long did it take for your doctors office to receive your approval? My insurance called on 1/20 to say I was approved but my doctor office says they haven’t received anything.

Girl make sure you make the doctors office check. I called my insurance and they said they sent the approval. Soon after I got off the phone with them I called my doctors office and she was like no we haven’t received anything. I was like ummm can you double check because the insurance company said they sent the approval over in the morning. She was like I don’t think so but I’ll check again and low and behold it was there! She was like oh I just didn’t see the email right away. So glad I called and made her check so call and make them check!!

Okay, I'll play along! I don't have a "before" pic that really represents how big I was, because I generally avoided being photographed back then. My before is from a chorus concert I did--and I will admit that I was wearing a "man girdle" at the time. (Cringe.)

I went from 250 to a low of 132 before bouncing back up to 142.

  4. I wonder how it feel after being overweight all these years to finally be at a “normal” size again. I was pretty slim all the way until my mid 20’s then I just put on like 70 lbs over a course of 15 years and I didn’t really notice until about 5 years ago and been trying to lose ever since. I lost 20 lbs here and 30 lbs there but always put back more so I finally made the decision to have wls. Idk how I’m going to feel to be back to my normal weight it’s exciting and a little scary at the same time! How is it for you guys?

Everyone looks so great. Congrats on your success.

I lost 31kg in 6 months which was my goal & a further 11kg in the last 13 months. The first pxt was about 6 months before surgery - can’t believe I was that big. The second was last week.

It’s a big decision to change how your body functions so your worries are understandable. Having surgery was the best decision I ever made. My journey was pretty smooth. A couple of little hiccups (low blood pressure, a little hyperglycaemia) all manageable & all things I’d experienced in the past when I had been slim. Certainly nothing that makes me regret my decision.

    Good luck on your journey.

I'm a guy but hope this helps. This came up as one of those "memories" timeline photos - MAY 2019 vs MAY 2020 on the same day. Surgery is a helpful tool, but you have to put in work as well! (VSG not bypass - but same concept)

Wow you look great and you are absolutely right about putting work in!

first picture was me before I started my six-month supervised diet (2014). I think I was at my highest weight ever. Second picture (from 2017) is of me when I was two years out of surgery (this was before I had my skin removal surgery, though...I had that in Aug 2018 and March 2019). Last one was of me on my 60th birthday (last year). I've put on some weight since the 2017 picture - but excess skin is gone!

Absolutely surreal to be posting this as I have read so many of these threads! I didn’t think the day would ever come! Excited and petrified. My date is 2/22/21!!

Any February 2021 bypassers out there? I would love to connect and share prep plans and how things go after surgery.

My surgery date is March 17th! I am so excited lol

  9. Keep on top of them. I called every day just to get a status. So glad I did call they told me they approved me, I called my doctors office just to confirm they had the approval, the nurse said not yet, I was like ummm my insurance company said you did and she was like oh really let me check, and oh wow it was there she must have “missed” the email. I was scheduled right away so I am happy I stayed on their asses!
