  1. I'm in that same boat too Kurby. I feel like I'm going to be that one that dies on the table or have a stroke or heart attack. When I went for my pre-op on Monday they said we shouldn't worry about that , that's what all this pesky testing is about to eliminate all types of unforeseen problems. I still worry though and I probably won't relax until I'm back at home in my bed feeling like myself. I'm glad when they send you home you have some good meds because I'm going to need the rest. I probably won't be sleeping well from now and my surgery is on the 16th. I drove to my PCP today for an 11:oo appt only to find that my appt is at 1 . They weren't even open. I had to drive back home so the frustration is already setting in. I hate driving We'll be OK.
  2. I wish Jen and all the others being banded starting tomorrow the very best. I think about you guys all the time. Shadena aren't you also gonna be banded tomorrow? I guess everyone is off prepping and getting ready for thei big day. Shadena they're asking about you on bandedliving.com , so be sure to check in here and there. I was not put on a pre-op diet either but as of tomorrow I will be doing the fat flush smoothies replacing 2 meals with my shakes and 1 fish and veggie meal . to tell you all the truth I have run out of stuff to eat anyway. I cannot think of 1 thing that I feel I just have to have before my surgery. I'm ready to get this thing going.
  3. I know it will be here in the blink... Well it's nearly here for you  and it's already a lot of mixed emotions for me at least. I'm ready to get it done but I also want to be well and be able to do what I'm supposed to to have a great success. We will do this, we will!! I'm going to the other site to post my experience today. Please be sure to check in and let us know ASAP how everything went. I'll be thinking about you.
  4. Hey Shadena , You're almost there. I'm glad you made it through. That pre-op diet tis the worst but you can pat yourself on the back that you did your best and got back on the horse. I saw a cute vid on YT where this lady said she knew from the start she wasn't going to stick to no 2 wk liquid diet so she never even attempted to do it . She just low carbed and did well. She's now at goal and I love her vids. She is so happy you can feel it. I hope we all have the same result. I had my pre-op testing today. I was very nervous about it for some reason but now it's over and I'm counting it down now until the 16th. Dee
  5. Congrats to all who have had their surgery and doing well. Special Hello to Amanda (spoiltmom) , I am so glad you are home and doing well. I know it wasn't easy but you did it. I wish you all the best that are having surgery within the next couple of days. I'm going in for my pre-op today. I hope it's uneventful and my PCP clears me for my surgery on the 16th. I so want to be on the other side and starting to work my band.
  6. I wish you the very best Swirl ..I honestly , sincerely do. When we got 2 pages in and you explained just a little of your problem, I understood a bit more how you feel and quite honestly after reading you had CHF and problems with your liver I was thinking maybe your DR. should have post-poned your surgery until your health improved but he didn't and your here now. No your post and none other is going to dissuade me because I have done my research and I have done everything my Dr has recommended pre-op and tomorrow I'm going for my pre-op testing. If they find I have a health issue at this point it's up to me to take charge of my own life if the Dr will not. I hope you get better and like you said hopefully you'll be on here 1 day saying it was hard at first but this is the best thing I ever did. I'm hoping against hope that will be my story. Like previous poster said "this too shall pass" or like my DH says "bad times don't last forever" .
  7. I read every post and I didn't see where anyone said that your life must suck and that you were a damn fool. It's just that you started a thread with a very , very negative post with no explanation of why you feel the way you do. There are many people that come on here with negative posts but some of them ask and explain to seek answers to a specific question or if anyone else is experiencing what they are. I think it's shocking too that so many people seem to have this surgery without researching and reading. I have read 3 books about this surgery since I started looking into it. I have also been on this site and others religiously especially since my banding date is coming up soon . I have also been on Youtube checking out all the successful bandsters and actually writing down tips. I have been in this process for about 3 years now. I put it off for a year because of coming here and reading posts just like yours. I'm really very sincerely sorry that you had major surgery and now feel like you made a mistake for whatever reason. I hope you get over your bad feelings and maybe come in and ask some of the experts on here a specific question and perhaps find a solution to your problem. Everything is not for everybody...I hope it gets better for you.
  8. I saw that and even though she lost all of her weight and lost all of her weight, I thought she was a bad example of a bandster. The way she was eating and the cookie thing was sad. It was funny to see her Mom constantly telling her about her eating habits and how she had to get control of that and her just looking at her and shoveling a big fork full in her mouth. Congrats on your weight loss . We have to work to do better. Congrats to you Melissa...you make the surgery sound like a breeze. I hope I have the same breezy experience . Well I wish that for all of us coming up to surgery day. I hope Spoiltmom is well and past her surgery. Hopefully she'll check in soon.
  9. Congrats to all the new bandees....Kelly and Sara, Beachbunny and the others. It makes me feel so good as you all check in . I am so scared of not making it through so when you all check in I breathe a sigh of relief Jingleboob, on my pre-op instructions I was told to take a shower with anti-bacterial soap the night before and the morning of the surgery.

    Reached your personal goal???

Congratulations, what a wonderful victory. I can't wait until my day.
  11. I feel you Jen. I am so thankful I don't have that requirement with all the stress I'm going through I know I would ahve had a hard time with that 1. I only have to stay on liquids the day before surgery and I also have to take a bottle of citrate of magnesia too to clean me out. Why don't you do that today or tomorrow? take the c of m to clean yourself out and just try to be cool the rest of the time. I'm gonna be home all next week too to stay out of temptations way. I think it'll be easier after the surgery cause we'll be sore and trying to heal and afraid of messing up the tool inside us.
  12. Honk, I understand and agree with what your saying but I don't really think it's that serious. I'm hoping that the contract thing is probably just and extra incentive or motivator to try to keep you on your toes What can they do ? sue you if you don't lose weight or exercise? Yeah , I can just see that on Judge Judy!! On the other hand if God forbid something go wrong at your surgery because you binged out or have a gut full of alcohol or something it may be a piece that they can use against you if we wanted to sue them. Who knows? I think it's just more like one of those pledges Oprah always has people signing...like yeah O just cause you shame somebody into signing your don't text and drive pledge on your show their not gonna do it but it may make someone think twice about it.
  13. Awww...that's so touching. I suspect the same thing will happen to me. This has been such a long journey for me and I'm so anxious about something going wrong. Congrats on your success!!
  14. I'm glad your not offended . The magnesia is Dr.s orders it's a laxative used to clean out your bowels before the surgery. I have to take it the day before surgery. I was just thinking about taking it a couple of times because I haven't been binging but I have been eating just whatever I thought to have since I thought I would be going on a strict liquid diet for 2 weeks. I have to exercise too to build myself up for surgery, Dr's orders. I have a treadmill too.
  15. That's great ...I was going to delete my post because I didn't want to offend. I'm glad you made a good decision for yourself. Even though my Dr did not put me on a strict liquid diet I'm going to be very careful from now until surgery & will probably use that citrate of magnesia 2-3 times in the next couple of weeks. What Leigha Mason said was deep , a lot to think about.
  16. I totally agree with every word you just posted. Don't feel bad I had the same problem with my surgeons office staff. They treated me like I was begging for a free surgery or something and I didn't appreciate it at all. I talked to my surgeon today about it and he apologized. I too just got a handout about the pre-op diet and what to do when I get home. I have seen some people get binders full of info, free dishes to portion their food and all other stuff. That's alright their attitude has made me more determined to make my goal ASAP and make them beg me to go to their support group to help others. I'm going to be their star patient whether they acknowledge it or not . :blushing:
  17. SpoiltMom you are so funny...I have been following your posts since you were so frustrated about not getting approved and worrying about that. Everything went your way and better and now your thinking of cheating on your pre-op diet!! I'm not being mean or snarky this just makes me worry about people like myself that are emotional eaters. What reasoning and excuses will I use once I'm banded? Will I be a success or one that has only lost 30 lbs after being banded for a year because I have to have 1 last something. There's always an excuse for 1 last indulgence or "just this time" . That's why I'm having to do major surgery to control my weight now. This is not about me though....just made me think. On the other hand I find a lot of Dr.s operate differently . I saw my surgeon today and was so ready for him to tell me I have to do a 2 wk liquid diet starting today but he didn't. I only have to have liquids the day before surgery and I have to have a bottle of that citrate of magnesia to clean out my bowels. So if you just have to...I think it would be better to do like Honk says do it on Wednesday and then clean yourself out the day before surgery. I wouldn't risk my surgeon going in and finding a reason not to operate though. Some of these surgeons can be very strict and don't want to risk their practice for patients that don't follow instructions.
  18. This is the way I feel too. I'm nervous about dying on the table . I fear them opening me up and closing me back because I have some undetected problem. I'm hoping and praying for all of us that all will go well. It will be OK.
  19. Hello LaurieH, I just came back from my surgeon. So, yes it's a go for 8/16. I was so afraid about the pre-op liquid diet myself but guess what...he doesn't require one!! I only have to do liquids the day before the surgery and now I can relate more to KellyO I have to take that citrate of magnesia stuff to clean out the bowels the day before. He did say that he would like for me to lose 5lbs by the surgery date and I can do that easily . I can lose weight , I just can't keep it off. Try to do your very best with your pre-op diet we made this commitment so we have to follow all of our surgeons rules. You'll be fine!! I hope KellyO is doing well having her surgery today. It's probably over . She is probably in her room or maybe even home by now. My Dr. requires an overnight stay.

    How much do you lose

That sounds good . I hope I have that result. I know it's not good to lose a lot fast but I really do need to come down . I am really too darn fat!!
  21. Oh... my father used to take that from time to time. Yeah, you have to stay close to the facilities with that. I never heard anybody say that they had to take a laxative the day before.
  22. Wow Kelly, What a surprise !! YEAH, what is the poo-poo meds I never heard of that before. Do you have to stop eating now? Please let us know as soon as you can how everything went, every detail. I'll be thinking of you tonight. All the best.
  23. Hey Aline, you found us!! Are you on your pre-op diet yet ? or does your surgeon require one?
  24. Hey all my fellow August Rushers, Along with this great site I have gotten a lot of positive energy and encouragement from Gloria and Sandi . They have had long term success and don't mind sharing so come and join us over there too. Being so close to surgery I'm perusing the net for all the insight and support and encouragement I can get.
