  1. I have 2 more days too. I'm planning on some scrambled eggs w/red. fat cheese on top and some baked flounder with some mushy broccoli..yummy!! I just saw a recipe today for some refried Beans with just a little ground turkey ,some ff cheese and salsa on top that was posted by an at goal bandster . She served it on a little saucer . I think that may be good.
  2. Since the day before my surgery I have lost about 14-15lbs. Not weighing again until fill day the week of 9/20. I tried starting my Leslie Sansone DVD today and my legs felt so heavy absolutely no energy so I had to stop. Surgery was 8/16 do you all think this is normal? When did you start exercising? Dee

    Leslie Sansone

Her DVD's are great . I was off on another tangent on my treadmill but I decided to take it back a notch and do Leslie until my energy kicks back in. I was just banded on 8/16. Starting this tomorrow.
  4. Congrats on being banded . It is funny how everyones Dr's have different diets but your new pouch needs time to heal so just rest and savor your broth and jello and popsicles :scared2: On my stage 1 liquid diet I can have grits, or cream of wheat. I hate grits so if you just feel like your gonna break down call your Dr and ask if you can have some real creamy , liquidy grits he may say yes. Congrats and take care of yourself. First time I ever heard anyone say they wanted to stay extra in the hospital!! I hate hospitals too and I wanted to come home the same day but now that I look back the hospital was nice and clean and comfy and I'm glad I stayed but when discharge time came I couldn't get out of there quick enough and back home to my hot shower and comfy king size bed...ummmm!!

    Stuck on soup?

My surgeon didn't put any fluid in mine but I have read on here that some have fluid in on surgery day.
  6. To the poster that asked about P90X . That set is very difficult and I believe for seasoned exercisers. I would love to exercise 2x a day . I want to get this weight off ASAP within reason. I think I'll start out slow though with the Leslie Sansone DVDs in 1 session and a little treadmill walk for the 2nd session to get my body used to exercising again and then step it up later with the many other sets I have. Dee
  7. I had no pain either , really none. I was amazed after reading all the negativity here. Especially because I got the band and I had a hernia repair. I also had minimal gas pain that was easily handled with Gas-X. I asked for a pain killer the night of my surgery more so to help me sleep than for pain. I took 2 of the prescribed pain killers since being home to head off pain that never came. So I take the liquid Tylenol at night to sleep and I'm good. I'm amazed at how good I feel. I started working out just a little today, 20 min on my treadmill ( a slow walk) and my temp spiked a bit but I took another dose of tylenol and I feel fine now. Dee

    Stuck on soup?

This is what I'm thinking. I was just banded 8/16. I don't have much of an appetite at all but we have to get used to eating as we should. i still make the mistake some times of just taking a big gulp of Water and then I don't feel stuck but I feel it in my throat like a piece of bread going down slowly. That feeling reminds me to slow down and sip. Dee
  9. Jen, stop stressing you'll be fine. As others have said it seems these docs have different approaches I'm sure based on their experiences and erring on the side of caution. The not eating is to give your stomach pouch time to heal and the swelling go down. If you felt fine and ate a little off plan but took your time and did not have any repercussions I think you should put it to rest and move on. I had my pre-op yesterday and my Dr told me to do liquids for 4 more days and then I can move on to mushies. Fortunately, I'm not hungry but I'm going to have a Chobani greek yogurt now and drink some Water and keep it moving. On Wednesday I'm gonna broil up some flounder with butter & garlic and some mushie broccoli and enjoy myself as I lose, lose, lose. I'm already so happy. We have to follow our Drs instructions but we also need to get to know our own bands and what we can and cannot tolerate. As we see here there are a lot of different perspectives on the same thing.
  10. I am 55 and other than being embarrassed and depressed about my weight I feel great and not old at all. My couple of friends that know I had the surgery on 8/16 tease me about being a hot mess when I get to goal. I still feel youthful that's why I decided to finally do this so that i can still enjoy myself while I have a glimmer of youth left. Hey 50's are the new 40 and 40's are the new 30's and I guess it helps that I have a younger DH that I've been with for over 21 years. Age is all in your mind and just a number if your healthy and fit it's even better and that's what all of us "ladies of a certain age" are trying to achieve. I wish you all the best.

    Port protuding

I was just banded 8/16 and I can feel my port quite easily already even though my belly is still swollen. I guess that will be good when I get my fills so I'm not complaining. There is a woman on Youtube that has reached goal with her band . She was showing herself in a bikini and you can clearly see her port. I am pretty sure when I reach goal mine will look like that but since I have passed bikini age it will not bother me one bit as long as it's not painful.
  12. I was just banded on 8/16 and I'm feeling good so far. I may change my mind as time goes on but as for right now...I'm praying for all the feelings above. I've had and tasted and indulged in all there is to eat bringing me to this point. I would love to lose interest in food and eat to live instead of living to eat.

    Goodbye 200's

Congrats Dena, I was just banded Monday and I've lost 10lbs already. I'm so excited. I have a ways to go b4 onederland but I'm sure I'll get there. My next appt & first fill will be in the week of Sept. 20th . My goal is to be down another 20lbs by then. My Dr cleared me for exercise already so I got up today and did 20 min. on the treadmill planning to work up to at least an hour a day bit by bit. Dee
  14. You had major surgery yesterday so I would think it's only normal that minimally you are sore and swollen . As for taking meds unless its a pain pill maybe you should lay off anything else right now unless its crucial. I was just banded this past Monday. I thought they would send me home with a liquid pain killer but they didn't . I got a prescrip for Percocet Tabs. I really didn't need them thankfully because I was not in much pain at all but when I did take a couple I broke it into 3 pcs and swallowed 1 pc at a time with a sip of Water and allowed it to go down before I took the next piece. I've been taking liquid Tylenol to head off any pain at night. Sips, sips, no gulps. As for the gas I have taken a whole pack of chewable Gas-X since I'm home to get it out of my system. It has helped immensely. You are supposed to be on a strictly clear liquid diet ckn broth, water , Crystal lite, etc....sip, sip, sip. Watch that throwing up right now you don't want to slip your band already. Call your Dr if you don't know what to do or are concerned. Dee
  15. Congrats BeachBunny!! Glad all went well for you and your home free, YAY!! Dee
  16. So I guess I should be posting here now. I was banded on the 16th and had to stay overnight so I didn't get home til last night. I immediately took a hot shower, myDoc said I could and took my pain killers. I am fortunate , I have not had really any pain at all. I'm just taking the pain killers to head it off and as a sleep med. I've taken the painkillers 2x since I got home and the liquid Tylenol 2x . I don't have much gas pain either but taking the Gas-X if I feel a twinge. I have not had anything to eat of course since I've been home I've had water and half of a 20 oz Diet Snapple. Just taking small sips. I was not able to drink since Sunday night so with the walking that I had to do in the hospital the night of surgery and the morning after and having to wait until after the barium swallow to have even a sip I was parched. Wow 3 days without food was a piece of cake 2 days without water was very hard for me. Reading all your posts has taught me a lot. I said in another thread I will not be weighing myself until at least a month out. I know it must be frustration to go through all we're going through and not see any loss or even a gain. I know my belly is very bloated now and I'm drinking a lot of water so I wouldn't be surprised if I'm heavier now even though I haven't eaten in 4 days now. Kelly, you sound like your doing great with your walking. I would love to start doing something but I can't see it right now. I have an appt with my Dr on Friday so I'll see what he says then. Take it easy everybody and be patient we just started this long journey.
  17. Just wanted to check in and let you all know I survived. I'm home my surgery was yesterday and it was fine. Much like amanda a breeze. I had to stay overnight so I'm just getting home so I'll share more tomorrow. Congrats suzmelon to you too and your MOm. I'm sleepy so excuse any oversights or misspells. Did Laurie check in? let me see before I sign off. Thanks for the good wishes all, Dee

    Way off track

rguay..your almost there , go get your fill and finish the race. Hey Sarah, funny you post today finally after much hassle with our surgeons office I'm finally getting banded today. I've realized from their dealing with me that this is going to be all about me and I have to do this for myself. Their neglect and attitude has shown me that I have to work this band for myself. Your too young to be going through this. Seems like you have a good start already. Recommit, get your fill if you need one and start over from day 1 if you have to. I wish you the best. Dee
  19. Wow BeachBunny that's great!! I'm up getting ready to go to the hospital. I couldn't sleep much at all last night . The last time I saw was about 4am and then my neighbor called at 7 to wish me well today. Hopefully , I'll be tired tonight and sleep in the hospital. I have to stay overnight and I loathe hospitals. I'm also really thirsty but can't drink anything and my surgery probably won't be until after 2 or so . I'm trying not to think about it. Getting my clothes together and playing with my dog. Dogs are so smart she knows something is going on so she keeps looking at me Like she does when we're packing for vaca. LaurieH and Amanda , be well. Please let's all meet back here tomorrow. Beachbunny try to chill today and be ready for tomorrow.
  20. I Googled the Protein Bullets. They come in a little bottle like 5 hour energy now and they have 42g of Protein in each serving. On some sites they are even sold as for WLS patients. I read a lot of controversy about it on OH.com and a couple of other sites. Some say they have researched and our bodies cannot absorb that much protein in one take. They make them in to 2 drinks like Jen said and they come out much like a Kool aid thing, haven't had that in ages. Some say their Dr recommended and others No. Some say they take them regularly and their protein levels are perfect. I was about to buy a case from vitacost but I think I will just buy a couple or 3 shots and try them out when I have the days when I can't take in much and go from there. I'm a little vain and worried about losing hair and keeping my nails up. I have yet to find a Biotin supp. that doesn't come in a big white capsule. I've always had problems swallowing pills and caps and would get stuck sometimes w/o the band so I can just imagine with it.
  21. Ok Jen, sounds good I have a Target right across the street from my house and a Costco pretty close too. I'm not a fan of super sweet things and I hate grape flavor but I'll look for them it sounds like a good thing to have on hand when your struggling to get the protein in.
  22. This is why I decided not to tell anyone but then I did tell at least 3 close friends and I already feel like that's too many . This was a very personal and hard decision to make so I am not tolerating anyone giving me a hard time about it. I understand whatever decision a person has to make for their own good but I cannot see cutting up my stomach or intestines unless I am told I have a cancer or something like that . A person is an idiot that suggests you have such an invasive surgery over the lap band and their ill-informed . I'm gonna do what I have to do for myself and whoever doesn't like it is welcome to step off and never speak to me again.
  23. You all sound good and encouraging. I was told by the nurse at pre-op that I may very well have a sore throat after surgery because of the intubation. I'm pretty sure the Dr's have to struggle more with some of us to get that tube down our throats so we may have a sore neck too. Can somebody tell me what is a protein bullet? I've heard it mentioned a couple of times. Oh I guess I can google it. AmberK , your walking plan sounds really good. I've been doing that 10 min at a time. I've been sedentary for so long I think I'll do that too , don't want to jump in gung-ho and then fall off from burn-out. Dee
  24. Thanks for the well wishes. I know I'm crazy. I'm walking around the house looking at things like my dirty mirrors in the bathroom and thinking "If I don't come home what will they think of me" I'm looking at my jewelry wondering who will get it. Looking at my shoes thrown on the closet floor thinking I should put them away. :cursing: My PCP reassured me all is well but honestly I won't feel good until I'm back in my own bed. Dee
  25. Doesn't sound like your band was suddenly too tight though I have heard of traveling causing that. You said yourself you stuffed the 2 bites down perhaps in your rush you didn't chew the chicken well and it came back up. I've read it happens to the best banders every once in a while. Doesn't seem like it's anything to be worried about just be careful from now on perhaps you should have asked for a take out container and took your time taking a few bites and chewing well in the taxi. I hope you feel better.
