I hear you . I am very happy too and even my friends that don't know I was banded have noticed it. I don't feel like I'm starving either. I have cravings but somehow just saying what it is out loud makes me laugh about it and move on. I'm going to try to keep this attitude and let it move me forward. I'm having my first fill on 9/22 so I'll be right behind you. I don't know what my Dr's policy is but I'm going to ask for an aggressive fill so it won't take me forever to get to that sweet spot. I'm excited about it!! Hang in there Diane it will get better. I feel you. I love clothes too and I have always bought a lot of clothes the more insecure I became with my weigh the more I bought. Expensive ones too , from Nordstrom and Bloomies hoping they would help me to not look so big that includes expensive shoes and designer bags too. I can't wait to be at the size where I can buy great clothes and not spend so much money. I'm looking forward to now fitting back into the things I haven't been able to wear in a while. Because I love good clothes I refuse to buy stuff now that will just go to waste. I'll be saving that money for goal day when I head to Nordstroms to buy a whole new wardrobe from the underwear out. Sounds good to me. Just go back to eating well at the next meal. We have to learn to live with this band. Dee

I have!! I posted this in the thread where a poster was complaining about being depressed since surgery. My surgery went so well and I have been feeling great since then. For the life of me I can't change my ticker but I'm down 19 lbs since surgery and I feel like I finally have hope that I will lose this weight. I stayed in the house most of the Summer because it has been hot as blazes here in NY and I just didn't feel confident throwing on clothes that would show my bloated body. I was just embarrassed about myself and did not feel comfortable. I don't feel bloated now and I just feel happy like I did something for myself. I am just in the mood to exercise and see the weight just come pouring off. I'm looking forward to coat time so that I can wrap up and diet and exercise and work my tool so that when it comes time to take the coats off next year I can wow everybody but especially MYSELF!!. Been in a bad mood since getting banded????
msdv replied to BethC's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm sorry to hear this and hope you start to turn around soon. I am the opposite. I was miserable and hopeless before my surgery but since I've been banded on 8/16 I have hope that I won't have to die obese with a stroke or heart attack. I feel better mentally. I have not had the peace at home that I thought I would have because of illness in the family and having to have houseguests at the most inopportune time but I made up my mind to not have an attitude so I wouldn't have tension in my house and it has been good. I've lost 19 lbs since being banded and I feel so much better. I still have about 90 lbs to lose but I feel so much more confident and like I'm ready to just do this and reach goal. -
Different Drs have different diets, on my puree list I can have scrambled eggs, toast and mashed potatoes so if you were with my surgeon you would be fine. You're not a failure. Just go back to whatever is on your surgeon's list right away. Feel better.

Just to add on to my last post...I haven't even had my first fill yet but I'm down 19lbs since surgery date and my port already protrudes a lot. I know it won't be a problem finding it for a fill but I'm thinking as I get smaller and smaller this thing will really stick out a lot more. It is already quite obvious, if I were to bare my belly now I know people would notice. I don't plan on wearing bikini's but this may be bothersome later on . When I go for my 1st fill I will ask my surgeon already.

I was banded 8/16 and I feel the way you do sometimes when I sip liquids too fast or I try to drink too much. It doesn't worry me though just reminds me to sip and to slow down. I have noticed a couple of other things like that but I guess I just have to get used to my newly altered plumbing

YOU ATE A SANDWICH!!!!! 11 days post op!!! I would be so scared. I agree with above poster if I were you I think I would go back to soft or even liquids for a few days to calm things down. I hope it gets better.

First glass of wine stories?
msdv replied to BeachBabe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Drinking alcohol helped to get me where I am weight wise. Alcohol bloats me terribly. I have not had any wine since a couple of days before my surgery and I have already released so much of the bloat . I won't be doing alcohol for a long time to come. It's not worth it to me. Losing weight is my top priority now. -
I was just banded on 8/16 so maybe I should be quiet right now but I absolutely have no regrets. If any I regret that I didn't do this when I was in my 40's . I regret that I really had not heard of it when I was younger and yo-yoing and I regret that I didn't jump on it as soon as my Dr. told me about it. I've lost 18lbs since surgery date and I'm extremely happy right now . Even though I have about 90 more lbs to go. I already feel so much better and I have a different outlook. I know I will be successful with the band. Failure is not an option.

I was excited reading your 1st post because my 1st fill is coming up on 9/22 and I was hoping that my Dr would give me an aggressive fill too, not this 1cc at a time business . Please keep us informed as to how this goes for you. Hopefully when you start eating solids again you'll feel a difference. I already know I'm going to ask my surgeon to give me a more aggressive fill not 1cc at a time. Hopefully, he'll say yes.

Kelly sounds like you are doing fab!! 25lbs in 28days is great. I hope by the time I get to 28 days I can claim 25lbs. I have set mini-goals for myself ..like to be down at least 30lbs total by the time I go for my fill on 9/22. It's been slow getting into the exercise because the first time I tried it I spiked a little fever so I slowed down a bit. This week so far I have exercised on treadie both days but only about 20min each day. I've been eating btwn 500-800 cals a day not intentionally but I just don't know what to eat so I'm sticking with what I know, yogurt, Protein shakes a little Soup, refried Beans and filling up on Water . No sliming or PB'ing yet, thank goodness the thought of that stuff kept me from being banded for a while. I know it will probably happen one day but I'm doing everything to avoid it.

Well August rushers ...it's come and gone for us. We've all been banded already unless I missed someone being banded today. We've gone through the testing the appt's , the anxiety , the hospital admission, the relief of waking up from the surgery , the healing and now we're all learning our bands and living with them. I myself am so thrilled. It was a long stretch for me from my 1st seminar back in 11/09 to all of the Dr.s appts, the hassles with my surgeons staff and then waiting for approval and then the date of my surgery...8/16. I swore I wasn't going to weigh myself until my 1st fill on 9/22 but I had to and as of yesterday I'm down 18lbs since surgery day. I still have a long way to go because I catch myself gulping my Diet tea or grabbing a drink too soon after I have taken too big a bite of my yogurt but I'm learning. Failure is not an option with my band. Ok, I guess my musing is over what have any of you learned since band day? Dee
-
Oh that's a good Idea . I never thought of that. I'll try that one day. I don't trust Dr's scales because they weigh everyone on those same scales and who's to say when or if they're ever calibrated? I go by my home scale which I think is very accurate, I'll know better when I do the above trick. Not weighing myself right now. I'm just banded and don't want to get on that "I'm not losing" rollercoaster.
-
I don't know if it's in my mind but i do feel that . Even though I have no fluid in my band I do feel like if I gulp too fast or eat just a couple more sips of soup I feel it, so I believe what your Dr said.

i take the Vita fusion Gummy Vitamins from Target. Their really good and a quick chew. Somedays I take Centrum chewables, whichever I reach first. I think your nutrionist was probably referring to gummy bears or candy because their an easy slide through .
-
I don't believe in taking or eating anything that grosses me out to that degree. I know those vits from those sites can be expensive but I would chalk it up to experience and trash them. You can get some Centrum chewables or I got some great tasting gummy vits from Target called Vita-Fusion. They are deelish I take them and consider them a little treat or snack. You can't succeed making yourself consume something that grosses you.

Liquid Tylenol and Liquid Advil where do you buy it???
msdv replied to losethemess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Liquid Advil is a no, no post surgery. As for the liquid tylenol, I asked the same question on Bandedliving.com because I too was told by a not a clue pharmacist that there was no such thing as liquid Tylenol. She said the only liquid is children's Tylenol and that I would have to take a mega-dose for it to be effective . Some Tylenol has been recalled but not the adult liquid. You have to go to a few places to find it but I found mine at Duane Reade in NY and at Rite-Aid. I have 3 bottles now since it is so hard to find. You have to shop around for it . To me the taste of liquid Tylenol is not bad about on the level of Nyquil perhaps a tad milder. -
First Fill... Should I Even Get It?
msdv replied to StormRoyale's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bleeding from where? if your incisions you should call your surgeons office. Are you feeling feverish? Is the place your bleeding from swollen , inflamed, looking infected? Call your Dr. Dee -
First Fill... Should I Even Get It?
msdv replied to StormRoyale's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is exactly what I was going to say. sounds like you are bare-knuckling it right now (bummer) Your 1st fill will probably leave you feeling just as you do now perhaps leave you satisfied a little longer. It will also give you time to work on that chewing better thing . I know I have to I just got banded and I still gulp sometimes and today I was so hungry I wolfed down some broth w/ mashed veggies 'til I caught myself. Now all I've had today was that 1 can of light Soup and a 1/2 diet Snapple and I'm uncomfortably full. -
Congrats to you . Get lots of rest and take it easy. Dee

This was my fear too last week but I didn't want to voice it because this site can already be so negative. When I went for my medical clearance with my PCP I asked him...can I die? can I have a stroke? can I have a heart attack? He looked at me like I was nuts and said , NO!!!! He said that's what all the testing is about to insure there are no problems they can foresee. He also reassured me this the lap band surgery has a very low complication rate. I was really nervous about dying because I'm a little older now and I'm so heavy and have high blood pressure but after he told me that I felt a whole lot better and I hope you do too. You'll be on here posting your surgery story like everyone else. Chill out, be positive that will take you further. Dee
-
Thank you Kelly, that sounds like a lot to me (dummy) but I'll try it. Laurie we're right here >>>> <<<<< I'm gonna get off this pc and try my treadie again. Dee
-
Ok, tech dummie alert!! I'm trying to update my ticker. Can I do it here right in the thread or do I have to go to my cp and edit the ticker there? I have right clicked here and tried to go into editing my siggy but no good. Please explain it to me like I'm a 2 year old somebody , anybody...please!! Dee

Kelly...I'm starting to get over my not hungry feeling too. I'm on my 10th day of liquid diet and these last couple of days I've started to get the hungries back. Last night I opened up a can of Progresso light Soup and had half of that mostly broth with 5 reduced fat crackers crumbled in the soup and it was satisfying. In having that I saw that I can basically eat and fill up just like I did before surgery and that is a little scary. Tomorrow I'm going to start stage 2 and I will have some flaky fish and some broccoli with cheese sauce ...ooooh that sounds so good. Even though I failed at exercise yesterday I'm gonna try to get back on the treadmill today for 15-20 minutes. I didn't have surgery to fail so I'm just gonna try to do the best I can . Dee

Hey Diane, I'm doing great , will start mushies in about 2 days. The liquid diet passed by in a breeze didn't really think about it much because I was not hungry, can't wait to move on though. Most of us that have been banded already are in the August rush in bandland thread. Dee
