Ellis Hosptial Bariatric Center NY?
Jimbo749 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Has anyone had any experience with the center at Ellis Hospital? I am scheduled to attend the weight loss seminar there and was wondering if anyone had any inside information. I have been there before to visit a nutritionist but never met any of the doctors or surgeons. -
I havent been banded yet but i have a few in mind, 2 are NSV and the last is an SV. 1- To be able to go back to normal stores, as opposed to big and tall stores. And during my bi-annual shopping for clothes not having to move up another pant size every year. 2- I like to keep my "boys" trimmed, very difficult and dangerous when you can barley see them. I cant wait to see those motherfuckers again!!! 3- Be eligible for surgery to remove a Pylonidal Cyst (sp). The surgeon that healed the cyst said they wouldnt do surgery at my current weight, too risky and healing would be a major problems. If i lose 100lb i can get the surgery and rid myself of that god awful thing.

Marijuana Use After Surgery
Jimbo749 replied to KBates's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a daily user of marijuana and have no problem with the "munchies", i got over those about 10 years when i started smoking. Im glad i found this thread i was worried about asking the doctor. Im wondering if the medicinal properties of marijuana will help with recovery, Symptoms like naseua (sp). If it turns out it is not advisable before or after surgery i can easily go without, I just wanted to figure whether i could use it post op for the medicinal qualities, because i guarantee they wont send me home with nearly enough painkillers. -
Marijuana Use After Surgery

You sure that was pot? It is not even a physically addicting substance. Now if you said heroin, cocaine, crack, or something of that sort i could understand 3 of your friends becoming basically homeless. I guarantee you they were smoking somehting else other than pot. -

If you are a student of the medical profession you should already be aware that there are NO physically "addictive" properties to cannabis. This must be your first year of "addiction therapy". -
I dont let other people create my feelings for me. If someone thinks it's "the easy way out" they can try doing the liquid diets and shitting their pants. This is your decision and only yours. If you are confident that this is what you want, then thats the end of the story.

My parents actually brought up the idea of the lap-band, so they will support me 100% becuase they have seen my struggles with dieting. They know that "just don't eat it" is not the answer for everyone. I am truly lucky for that. I have a feeling that some of my friends may think that i am taking the "easy way out". From all the research i've done, i can say that the lap-band procedure and all of the accompanying lifestyle changes are FAR FROM EASY. So i have decided that whoever doesnt agree with my choice or support me can suck it, they arent a true friend at that point. Lots of folks think it's an easy way to get skinny, but for most of we are just trying to live HEALTHY, not skinny. I have my Seminar scheduled for Aug of 2008 and will begin the pre-op planning phase.

Hello fellow posters, Today i have my first consultation appt with my primary care physician. Today we should be able to get the proper paperwork started to see whether or not insurance will cover the surgery. A little background, i am a 25 year old male with a bmi of 52. I have dieted many times as all of us have, trying several of the prescription "diet" pills with minor success. I am seriously considering the surgery. Wondering what kind of stuff you guys ran into during your first consultation. Did you find anyhitng unexpected, were you dissapointed at all, did your PCP have any deep knowledge of the surgery? Have any of been rejected by your insurance company? If rejected do they allow you to re-apply?
