    Pregnancy and Gastric Sleeve

That makes me so happy to hear, I too was afraid to tell my surgeon, but he called once he found out just to assure me everything would be fine. He said even though it isn’t ideal because they wanted the weight to be off first, all the other patients that have gone through this had healthy babies. Congratulations on the birth and weight loss, thanks for responding

    Pregnant 4 months post op

I too got pregnant 4 months post op, so nerve racking… everything seems to be normal so far, but I keep losing weight and am concerned my baby isn’t getting enough nutrients. Surely you’ve had the baby by now? How did everything go?
  3. Hi all, I had the gastric sleeve surgery done in December and found out I was pregnant in May. I know it was advised to wait 12-18 months before getting pregnant, but I had a slip up. It’s all good news to me seeing as I never thought pregnancy would be possible at all for myself. I think like all first timers I am nervous about many things, my surgeon called me to reassure me that while it’s not ideal he is sure everything is going to be fine. I’ve lost nearly 85 pounds, but this week gained 2. Anyways, I was wondering if there are any other sleevers who have gotten pregnant and if they could tell me what their experience was like, during pregnancy and after. Will the weight come off just as easy after the baby is born?

    Rice, Pasta, Bread, etc

I am also not able to digest anything white....but I am not sure if that is because I am only 2 months post-op. Sometimes it is sad to know I cant ever have a thin crust pizza again, but then I think about how much of it I have had in my life and that there are so many substitutes to things that I cant even complain. I wanted to try and make homemade pasta with almond flour.... I will let you know how it turns out.

    Rice, Pasta, Bread, etc

Hi there, being Italian I know exactly how you feel about possibly never eating pasta again lol. I found these noodles at metro, tofu based, there is even white yam based ones. Anyways... I make sauce regular and then use these shirataki noodles. You should try them!!! It’s not exactly pasta, but pretty damn close.
  6. I am just over two months post op and I have lost 52.8 pounds. It’s not as rapid as it was in the beginning, but definitely the scale is only going down. I also have been exercising plenty.

    Feeling Happy

I think you will find success this way, you might even want to throw in a quarter of an avocado in there. I’ve mostly been eating eggs, avocado and salad... tuna is a great idea. I am going to try that next week :)
  8. Today is 1 month and 1 day since I had my VGS surgery. And I can’t tell you all how happy I am to have had this surgery. It has made all the difference in the world to my life. I have 10x the amount of energy I used to have, almost like I have a bounce in my step again. My SW: 260 My CW: 217 GW: 175-180 It just seems like it’s really working. What I wanted to share with some people that seem to be struggling with the weight loss is that I have made my diet mostly keto. I understand carbs are just as important during the recovery time, but being more keto has helped the weight come off faster. Faster than even when I was not eating much after the surgery. I am really surprised by how fast it is dropping now... I think I’ll be at my goal weight before I even know it. Because of all this new found energy, I have been able to do so much more. I want everyone to be this happy 😃

    No exercise?

He could have said that in another way. I think it is sooo great that you are walking. It speaks volumes to how seriously you are taking this lifestyle change. I think maaaaybe the doctor was trying to say it’s 80% diet and 20% exercise and wants you to make the diet a priority? I’m not sure, but in any case.. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK

    Hungry at night?

Maybe you can consume something like a stalk of celery before you go to bed or when you feel hungry? I am two weeks post op and sometimes I get that hunger you are referring to, but am not able to consume much right now. You might also not have enough protein throughout the day? Just a though

    How long until starting exercise?

That is good to hear, I will definitely be speaking to my surgeon to see what he has to say. I have another appointment with the doctors' in 2 weeks and I will bring it. By then it will be about 4 weeks post-op. I am just trying to keep the energy going by doing what you said you were doing, walking, maybe 10,000 steps. I guess its a good time to put my Apple Watch back on haha. It has felt like forever since I have had this type of energy, this type of motivation to get things going in my life. I thank you for your information, it is more helpful than you think, but I will seek out advice from a doctor before I do anything too strenuous
  12. I have noticed a tremendous amount of energy since having my surgery just over a week ago. I am not trying to push it because I do not want any complications. I know that it is extremely early to even have this cross my mind, but to be honest with all of you I feel like I am having the smoothest possible recovery. I have just started having a little bit of yogurt today, and want to be able to jump start some sort of fitness regime while I have this good feeling. I have not been doing much except taking the dogs out for an hour walk around the block. Does any one else have new found energy? Want to work out but know they cant? When is the safest time to start something?

    7 days post-op.

I noticed I am also noticing that my heart is beating really fast... is that happening to you?

    7 days post-op.

Congratulations on making it to the other side! Just think about all the wonderful opportunities this is going to present for us! I am 4 days post and feeling good, the weight is coming off, I am not in pain, but I am having a very difficult time getting all my water and protein in. Sounds like you are doing a great job! I find everytime I drink some water I develop a gas bubble, any tricks on how you are getting your water in? Tomorrow morning I am to talk with the doctor.

    Just had surgery on 12/15

I had my surgery not too long ago either, while I was ambitious to get all liquid, protein, etc in, I have to admit I am sort of failing too. I consume a water bottle a day, some of my shake and maybe some broth. That is all I am consuming right now
