had 1st fill today, no pain at all, just weird sensation when the neddle was being taken out, the port seemed to waNt to come out as well. Had some Water and felt the restriction again, got home and has a small bowl of Soup and has lots of restriction it took me 25mins to eat it. WOW. Looking forwar to the next 48hrs as I can only have fluids again. Will be intersting to eat something like wholemeal toast after that period. Looking forward to the next month as I have had little if any restriction for about 2 weeks. would be interested if anyone else here was at the consultation today, heard several stories. X

Hi
When do you have the surgery.
I have and never will look back, except at the pics of myself and wonder why didn't I do it sooner.
I look at food totally different now, its no longer the main thing in my life, but a neccessity when Im hungery.
I drink more water now than ever before, I would estimate I drink more in a day than I did previosuly in a month.
I wish you all the very best for your op, please keep in contact I would really like to be there for you, if you want anything answered etc
good luck kevin

Being Banded in Bristol on 1st October, Advice needed!!

Hi Heard a milk diet is good pre op, I personally just cut back on all fat from my diet approx 1 month pre op. Good luck -
hi I hope goes well for you, of that I have no doubt. Welcome to your new start. I haven't looked back, although I do remember I had serious doubt's, traveling to Belgium, seeing the consultant the same day for the first time and being operated on the very next morning. Waking up and thinging, oh god what have I done. Then a week passes and everything settles down. Then 2 weeks pass and the weight has dropped enough to think 'interesting' Then 1 month passes and your on a role, weight dropping off and finding the band easy to deal with as long as I remember to eat slowing, never forget that, thinking about chewing at least 15/20 times, putting my spoon down and having a break. Your stomach talks to you. Then 2 months pass and stones have fallen off, new clothes are needed, old ones disposed off instead of putting to the back of the wardrobe as I am never going there again. I have never felt so good, the last time I weighed this little I was 20, Im now 43 and thinking why oh why did I not do anything about it earlier, deep down I was so unhappy. So in short go for it. Yes there are doubts but the goal is endless. Good luck.

cheers, to be honest I have found it really easy, I always eat 2 slices of wholemeal (alisons wholemeal batch) for Breakfast with either lime marmalade or marmite, depending on how I feel, it generally takes me at least 20 mins and the last slice is always cold but I enjoy eating it. Sometimes, I can only manage to eat one. Throughout work I drink lots of Water, its amazing how good water tastes with ice :-) I will then have a yougut at lunch, a yougout or a slice of toast when I get home. Then for my evening meal I will eat approx 1/4 of what I used to eat, I do try and fill my plate half full, remembering it used to be full to over flowing, and I would get more once finished, but I always never finish half a plate, its just to much. I continue to drink water throughout the day. I generally have a cup of coffee when I get to work, maybe one around 11am, but generally its one a day. Before I would have at elast 4/5 cups of coffee a day and maybe 3/4 cups of tea. So in all I have found it really easy and amaze myself all the time with the weight loss. I have bumbed into so many people whos mouths drop when they see me, as they cannot believe its the same man they saw maybe 3/4 months ago. Thank you too the lapband :lovechoc:

good luck, I am sure you will never look back but learn from the past which has really helped me. My wife dug some pics out yesterday of me when I was 21st, I just didn't realise how big I had got, although happy outside really sad inside. I am so so happy I did this and cannot wait till my next fill. -
Hi I was nbanded by Dr Chris on the 10th June 2008, all went very well. Have you meet him yet or having consultation just before op, as I did. Kevin
-
I would call the surgeons office, for advice.

Hi Could luck on your new path. What are you up to eating at the moment. Kevin

well I seem to have exhausted my weight loss for now, I can eat a little more as my band seems to have minimum restriction at the moment, had a weigh in this mornin and still 16th 3lbs. I am due my first fill on the 18th Sept and cannot wait till then. Hope I can keep at 16st 3lbs until then, although my appetite seems to be very small these days.

took the family out today as my boy just got his exam results from school. We went to the red hot buffet, which serves several different types of cuisine, chinese, indian, mexican, italian etc etc. Its eat all you can buffet. Tried a small portion of rice and one piece of lamp rogan josh, very nice but really struggled to get the lamb down, so gave up, but sauce was nice. Then had a small portion of rice with sweet and sour pork, again struggled to get the pork down but enjoyed the rice and sauce. Absolutley stuffed, and didn;t desire anything else to eat but watched the kids really enjoy themselves. Pre op, I would have eaten 3 if not 4 plate fulls of a mix of foods and the plates would have been mountains and so stuffed, I would be uncomfortable. Watching others eat the way I used too brings it all back in perspective. Phycologically I could never had done this, having tried for many years, doing it physically has really worked for me, although I am sure when I have my fill I would have only managed one small portion of food and not 2 as I did today, so I am really anxious to get my first fill. I have too say I have, losing this amount of weight within approx 10mweeks has blown me, my family and fiends away. I was at a do at the weekend and say fiends I haven't seen for 3/4 months and they were astounded, one didn't even recognise me. What a great life.

big weigh in this morning after my hol in spain and wieghed 16st 5lbs, well happy. ate so much fish.
-
got back from hols yesterday and had a weigh in this morning. Have to say, I went out with the family every night for dinner and had fish every night bar one were I have singapore rice. So the weigh in this morning I was a bit anxious as I thought I may have put on maybe a pound and wieghed 16st 11lbs, so the weight is still coming off. It looks like 3 lbs a week which is amazing me. Looking forward to my fill in Sept, off too Spain for a week on Monday. Kevin
